Went there on the recommendation of a server at the Bard & Banker, and boy was she spot on! I had the daily special, a chive biscuit Benedict with crispy thin sliced ham, homemade apple & pear chutney arugula and chipotle aioli. There was nothing left on my plate, not even crumbs.

Their homemade jams are magically delicious. Very attentive service, funky atmosphere. Reminds me of squat & gobble in San Francisco a LOT.

Went to Victoria for a visit and did a search in Yelp for breakfast and the Blue Fox jumped right to the top of the list.  The reviews I read were absolutely correct.

Though there was a line, but only took a few minutes to get to a table.  Once we were sitting, the waitstaff was very attentive for being as crowded as it was.  The speciality coffee of the day was the pirate's booty with cane sugar and rum, it was excellent.
The food choices are varied and both dishes we had were excellently produced with humongous portions.

My wife and I have already agreed that next time we visit Victoria, this will be our prime breakfast spot.

from this point forward, when i think of creative culinary cuisine, I will think of The Blue Fox Cafe.  Their use of spices and blending of cultural cuisine was quite the experience.

-tried the Moroccan quesidilla and eggs Benedict and was floored by the flavors
-special coffee drinks with liquor, delicious

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE visit this place.

I will have to rate this in the top 5 "There is no way in hell I would have found this place without Yelp Mobile."

We arrived about 30 minutes before they closed and there was no wait....

The waitress suggested a specialty coffee that basically had homemade whiskey in it...  YUM!  She also suggested this Cinnamon Bun special thing they had.... What arrived was a huge plate of gooey carb laden deliciousness that was out of this world....

We should have stopped there.. but no, we both ordered breakfast.... I'm a big eater... and ate a little more than half of it.... HUGE portion sizes...

If you find yourself in Victoria, this is a MUST stop for breakfast or lunch!  It is a one of a kind place that puts out huge amounts of delicious food!

The Blue Fox deserves their reputation. They put thought into their food and they work really hard. They need a bigger location though...you will have to wait in line every time you visit.

    In a word:  amazing.

We waited for over an hour, and it was worth it.  Just plan on the wait. Our breakfast was out of this world.  Local and fresh ingredients, and a whole slew of variations on Eggs Benedict.  There were five of us, and each ordered something different.  All were well executed, and very large.  I think they all came with the same potatoes, which were outstandingly seasoned and prepared.

If it is raining, consider whether you want to stand in the line . . . outside.  There is room for a few people to wait inside, and another dozen under cover outside, but we were out on the sidewalk for half an hour.  If it has been wet or windy, we would have missed this treat.

Rolled off the ferry and went right to Blue Fox because of all the great reviews. I waited for about 30 minutes, which was fine. The hostess made sure she remembered the order we'd arrived so she could seat everyone appropriately. In fact, I really liked the staff here - lots of ladies with friendly smiles and stylish hair.

BUT I didn't really like my food!

Had the Pacifico Eggs Benedict - wild salmon, avocado, and maybe a roasted tomato with some kind of spicy aioli. Food came in a reasonable amount of time but the english muffin was so tough and rubbery I could hardly cut through it with my knife. Had it been sitting out too long? Warmed in a microwave? Overall it completely detracted from the meal. The dish was also classified as spicy but had no kick whatsoever. The potatoes were good but I was unsatisfied overall. I left mumbling something about The Blue Fox being dumb.

So, ok, this place was fine/mediocre and has redeemable qualities but after the wait and the reviews I was hoping for more.

I love blue fox!  I make a point to come here every time I visit Victoria.  Yes, there is always a line.  No, I don't care.

Some reasons why this restaurant is awesome:
    - They have lots of vegetarian options. (I love their omelets.)
    - Servers are super friendly
    - Serving sizes are enormous! (I always bring home leftovers)
    - They have home-made jam that is AMAZING. I mean it! You must try their jam. If what I order does not come with toast, I order it on the side, just to get their jam.

In short, the food here is homey and comfortable.  It's definitely not fancy, and it's stuff that you could probably make at home. But it tastes delicious, and the atmosphere is fantastic.  A great place to come with family or a group of friends.  Having breakfast here is always one of my favorite ways to start a morning in beautiful Victoria.

Many good things have been said about this place, but a visit serves as the reality check. I thought the food was decent and abundant and the service was great, but this place is only worth a 15 minute wait, not 40 minutes.  While the eggs benedict with pulled pork was good, I almost wish they'd serve them apart because the flavors did not really pull together. Additionally, as other reviewers mentioned, it was impossible to have a private conversation because of the close seating.

If you are looking for an amazing breakie in Victoria please please find the Fox. Basically the portions are Caligula sized! It is a orgy of Bennies and took me 10 minutes to choose which one I would have. Went classic and ordered a side a Chorizo which is mexican for OMG what great spicy meat in tube form! They also do the bennies on Montreal Style bagels which almost made me weep for my home town and for more bagels. Potatoes why yes more please, even though they give you a mountain of them. They also have the god of all hot sauces Sriracha! I was in food heaven. No skimping on portions here. It would satisfy a average cruise ship glutton. Honestly it was on of the best breakfasts I have ever placed in my gob. Oh Blue Foxy I shall dream of your sea of Hollandaise sauce.

This place is super busy for brunch. We were there on a weekday and we still had to wait for about 20 minutes. It's right by bus stop and on the way to craigdarroch castle. You can probably stop here for brunch then visit the castle afterwards.

I ordered an orange del sol. It came with very fluffy and big pieces of french toast topped with orange pieces and pecans. It's so delicious and I could hardly finish 2/3 of the plate since the portion is so big. I wish I could eat breakfast there all the time, but who knows how much weight I will get from doing that! :-)

I am so glad I got to eat here during my travel at Victoria. I will definitely miss the food there!!!

After listening to tireless, 'must go to' reviews from friends, I finally took the bait and went for breakfast here.  Waited over a half hour to be sat on top of another couple (who was clearly having a 'morning after' meal together). The 4 of us joked how we might as well be in a double date and that there's no way we could possibly have a private conversation while here.
I had the standard breakfast. Bacon was standard, toast was standard, potatoes were visually deep fried and disappointing, and the sausage...which had all the hope in the world...standard. Although the food was alright, I will never wait for this amount of time to be served the standard meal and enjoy my man's company, that close to another couple.
    Kitschy, but not worth it.
3 stars for being just like everyone else.  Standard.

On our Honeymoon this spring we stopped in here for brunch one morning. We waited about 15 minutes for a table which wasn't bad at all (considering Calgary brunch lines)... the only issue I had was that nobody greeted any of the people standing in the small space by the front door that we were all sandwiched into. They should take a cue from other busy breakfast joints and take names, encourage people to linger outside the business as opposed to crammed like sardines at the front of the restaurant while other patrons try to enjoy their food, maybe offer a cup of coffee for the wait. None of that occurred which was disappointing.

The food was good, not amazing, but good....I found the portion sizes way to large and I didn't really feel like I had tried anything new or special there. We did have a plate of french toast with bananas and almonds which was an interesting combination but again it felt too heavy. I wouldn't rush back, there were plenty of more wonderful places in Victoria for brunch but I also wouldn't refuse an invitation.

This is the best breakfast place of all time. Bar none. You can't beat it, so don't even try.
The lineups are huge yes, but you'll just have to deal with it because believe you me it's worth it.
The cafe is also the cutest thing ever. It's small and cozy and decorated to perfection - from the art on the wall to the customized salt and pepper shakers.
And the food...omg the food (glaaaargh - that's me drooling). Everything I've had here has been the best of its kind that I've ever had. The French Toast, the oatmeal (SO good. I know oatmeal isn't a favourite as breakfast joints, but try it, it's outstanding.), the eggs, the specialty coffees...all of it is incredible.
Service is always prompt and super friendly...you could not possibly do better.
Go here. WAIT in the line. Enjoy. Come back. And repeat :)

I say a lot that breakfast isn't ever good, just OK or even bad. But Blue Fox is one of the few places where I feel compelled to give it a better rating. Another Yelp success, we found Blue Fox on a Sunday morning, and as it was on the way to Craigdarroch Castle, decided to stop by.

Lines were long - with nothing else to do, we waited about 45 minutes, but might not have if we'd had more pressing plans. I'm glad we did - my "Oranges del Sol" was three slices of nice, thick, fluffy french toast, topped with a sweet sour creme sauce, cinnamon, orange slices, and triple sec syrup. Really good combination, really good toast, just...really good. Others enjoyed plain french toast and some nice, lean bacon. Even their coffee was decent.

Service was a bit slow once we got in, but it was a tiny place and it was jumpin - again, I had nothing pressing on me, so that was fine. Price might be a tiny bit high, but not out of control...just know it's not your $5 breakfast joint and you'll be OK. That $$ rating on Yelp is accurate. Would definitely return.

Did I think Blue Fox would live up to the hype after standing in line for half an hour on a late Sunday morning?

    No.

But I gladly ate words along with the Triceratops Benny I devoured. I must say, they got some things right.

They took their time organizing the tables and ushering people in, but once you're seated, service is impeccable. Perhaps a long wait means famished customers, and food does better when you're hungry?

Coffee was quickly served in small mugs, and they came around and topped it up frequently keeping your java fresh and hot. I do wish they had brown sugar though.

Free-run eggs are the star of the show, and they're perfectly poached. Oh that delightful explosion of yellow protein, matched only by the decadence of Hollandaise sauce with feta cheese over spinach, tomato and bagel.

I guess we should have known with the way the question was asked, but there was an extra charge for the hot sauces, whether Sriracha or house of 50 cents each. Honestly I wish they told us, we would have shared one since you really don't need that much in the first place. Good but unnecessary.

    Overall fantastic brunch spot!

The decor is beautiful, the wait staff friendly, and all-in-all it's got a great vibe, but I think my expectations had been built up to nearly insurmountable levels by the lengthy, lengthy wait.

I had the benny . It was... okay.  The egg was nicely done, the sides were good (really good, actually), but when you're serving something as funderful as hollandaise sauce, why would you serve a scant amount?  I had to ration it out like I was in a survival horror.  Resident Evil?  More like Resident Not Enough Hollandaise Sauce, The Blue Fox Café.

It's got a lovely ambiance, and I gladly admit that in this instance it's probably not you, TBFC, but me, and my gluttonous desire for hollandaise (this, in my mind, is the only reason to actually eat breakfast).  It's a great place to go for some decent food and a nice place to hang out.  Just make sure you plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before you're actually hungry, and maybe bring a good book.

A delightful surprise: Fun vibe, caring servers, distinctive and unexpectedly delicious meals, girth-pushing portions, reasonable prices.

I found this place on Yelp and wanted to try it post-triathlon on a recent trip to Victoria with my family. We found a lineup and were discouraged. How could breakfast be different enough to get 5 stars? The Zagat and enRoute stickers kept us around.

The Orange Del Sol and Pulled Pork Enchilada were delicious, even mouth-watering in hindsight. The beet, carrot and greens side salad was different and appealing. The portion sizes were generous.  Even though I was gulping down the water after my triathlon, my glass was never empty. The servers were courteous and made me feel good about the orders we made. I also admired the way they gently encouraged lower cost debit use over credit on their signs at the cash register. Reminds me that the decor isn't fancy or glitzy which seems to be reflected in their reasonable prices.

The only downside was the waits to get in and wait for the food after ordering. Luckily, we had lots of conversations and the fun napkin art under the table glass to pass our time.

Having never vowed to go to the same restaurant twice, Blue Fox has piqued my interest and allured me to going again. Looking forward!

Yum, Yum, Yum. We were debating about breakfast here or at the Dutch Bakery, and boy did we make the right choice! We walked in and realized the place was half-full of police officers - always a good choice to eat where the cops eat, in my book. The service was friendly, the food was absolutely delicious, and it was very well-priced!

The peasant toast was absolutely amazing!!

This restaurant was highly rated by our hotel as well as yelp so we decided to give it a try.

If we hadn't had to wait 20 minutes in a lineup at 830 a.m. on a Sunday morning it may have been a 4.5 star but the food was solidly good, not awesome to be deserving of 5 stars in my opinion.

Decor of the restaurant was bright, welcoming, and sunny; exactly what you'd want for a breakfast joint. The hand drawn pictures of the Blue Fox by previous patrons on the tables were a nice touch. Once you were seated at the table, the service was prompt and attentive.

We had the french toast with apples and traditional benny. I had read good reviews about the french toast but it was a bit too sweet for my liking, even without the maple syrup. The traditional benny was good but a bit too saucy.

So, would I come back if I were in Victoria again? Nah, especially with that kind of lineup and the restaurant selection that this city has to offer!!

Likely the best restaurant we tried during our vacation!

Recommended to us by a friend, it was said that it is usually packed with lines out the door in the mornings for breakfast service. We didn't have lunch until 2pm, so there were plenty of seats.

The decor is creative and fun. The staff is friendly and quick. The food was fresh and delicious!

We tried the Bubbles & Squeak, the Big Breakfast, an omelet, and the Moroccan Chicken Sandwich. All of it was tasty! It is so apparent when fresh local ingredients are used. It all tasted so fresh. Portions were large and cost is roughly $10-15 per plate.

I also had a latte which was awesome. Strong, full bodied flavor!

This was our first time to Victoria, so of course we checked Yelp for places to eat. Yelpers have never failed us and the recommendation to come to Blue Fox was no exception.

We had breakfast, which they serve all day. Hubby ordered the orange zest french toast. I had the Fox Grill. Both dishes were huge and I'm surprised we ate every last bit of it (it was that good, that neither of us wanted to waste any). The french toast was seriously the best french toast ever, fluffy and packed full of flavor.

The space is small so expect a line up. They do not write your name down, you just wait in line and get seated in that order.

This is definitely a must try.

This place is super busy for brunch, even on a Tuesday morning. My friend and I got into Victoria around 8:30am, so we thought we'd pop by and beat the crowd. But despite it being early on a Tuesday, the two of us still had to wait about 15-20 minutes to be seated. Service was very friendly & prompt though!

I ordered the Eggs Pacifico (eggs benny with salmon), and my friend ordered the Lox Omelette. Both were super tasty. We also got lychee mimosas, which were really unique!

They do take credit cards, but a sign on their register says that they prefer cash/debit! This place is really fun, and the interior is very eclectic. Definitely be prepared for a long line up if you come on a weekend morning though!

Adorable Alice in Wonderland type decor, awesome staff, delicious breakfast food! I love this little joint.

We came for breakfast Saturday morning, they were busy, but we were able to get a table within 10 minutes. Our server was very engaging and effortlessly nice.

When you read the menu and receive your plate you quickly realize just how much care and pride is taken in putting every dish together. Local, sustainable ingredients, robust flavor and cute presentation is everything you get even before your first bite. Note worthy dish:

    - Breakfast Quesadillas, that came with a sweet curry chutney which was out of this world delicious!

Blue Fox was a perfect start to our weekend!

Very poplar choice for brunch, so there was quite a wait, but it was worth it. Very large portions, much more than needed, and a little pricey. Adorably decorated and a fun atmosphere!

We shared a mocha with red chili flakes. It was pretty spicy but a fun change.

We tried the huevos rancheros -- had a base of  tortilla, refried beans (would've preferred an option of whole black beans), & cheese. Lots of avocado, which was great. Could've used something to make it a little more exciting but it was a good dish overall.

But the real highlight was the spicy eggs benedict we had! The name had Hell in it I think. A bagel with a chipolte aioli, chorizo, eggs, avocado & a spicy hollandaise! So amazing. The best eggs benedict I've ever had!! The breakfast potatoes were good but just too much food.

I definitely recommend this place for a great breakfast/brunch in Victoria. I'm glad I looked on Yelp before I went to Victoria or else I probably would have missed this place as it's a couple blocks north of the main downtown tourist area.

We got there on Sunday around 1pm and had to wait for about 30 minutes which wasn't a problem since I was expecting the wait and wasn't starving when I got there and the food was worth it!

The orange juice was delicious and tasted fresh squeezed and the coffee was smooth and tasty. I got the French toast which was amazing - 3 thick and fluffy slices with just a little powdered sugar, yum! I also got a side of sausage thinking it was going to be 2 small sausage links, but it turned out to be 3 huge homemade sausages that were soooo good! My boyfriend got the badger benny and it was really tasty too. The portions are big and everything was really really good. They also have a homemade green chile hot sauce that they charge 50 cents for, but is so worth it if you like hot sauce and want a variation from sriracha (which they also have, but don't charge for).

The staff was also very nice and all seemed to be in a good mood even late in day on a busy Sunday.

I will definitely come back again next time I'm in Victoria!

    Fantastic Brunch wth impeccable service!

Came here for brunch on Wednesday with my colleague.  We waited about 20 minutes for our table, but we both had to get back to the office in another 40 minutes, so I asked to see the menu so we could order immediately when we were seated.  The server did one better; she said they could take our order while we were still waiting to be seated, so we could be served as soon as we sat.

Wow!!!  This is truly unforgettable service!  Amazing.

My virgin caesar arrived first and a few minutes later my Huevos Rancheros arrived too.  Not only was I blown away by the service, as soon as I took my first bite, I was now blown away with the food.  Tasty, cooked to perfection, just the perfect amount of food for brunch.

Thank you Blue Fox Cafe for making my first visit truly rockstar!  See you soon.

For the hype it was getting, I was expecting more.  It's not at the top of my Victoria breakfast/brunch places, nor is it at the bottom.  It's an A-OK place.

Part of the lack of stars might be the waiting.  And waiting.  And waiting.  Frankly, it's not the waiting that really bothers me.  It's popular, it's not that large, and people flock.  I wish they had a better system for the waiting, a la Zazie in SF where you sign your name on a sheet.  It takes out the guessing game of "who got here first?"

Once inside, it's cute.  Didn't really get to look around much because I was playing with a friend's baby, but it seems like a lively place, decor wise.  Got the apple french toast because I was feeling "healthy" that day, and the BF got some egg thing.  It was good, but not blow my mind good.

I doubt I'd go back, but I wouldn't recommend against it.  I would just plan the timing better, that's all.

This place totally reminds me of quite a few excellent brunch places in San Francisco. Filled with character, awesome food, great service, etc.

I felt like having some brunch one morning during my short stay in Victoria. The yelp reviews for this place seem good, so I decided to try my luck.

I was lucky to get there early enough, right before the brunch line queued up around noon. I ordered the almond and banana French toast and a side of fruit and mushroom. The waiter realized I might be ordering too much, he kindly suggested that they could offer half size for the French toast for me. Plus points for this friendly gesture.

I completely indulged in the richness of the French toast and finished my plate within minutes. The fruits weren't the freshest, due to it might be winter at that time. However, I was sincerely satisfied with the warm service there as well as the flavor of the toast that I don't hesitate to give them a five star.

Their prices are so avoidable that I couldn't believe how little the bill was. I tried a different brunch place in town during my stay in Victoria, it didn't even come near as Blue Fox. I will fondly remember this lovely place as part of my fond memory of traveling to Victoria.

Southwestern was the theme when we visited.  Obviously a very popular resaurant, it was filled to the rafters even mid-morning on a weekday.  By the time we left there was a long waiting line.  The screaming message is that portions are huge.  Think Claim Jumper.

As is typical for restaurants and coffee houses these days, art for sale is on the walls.  What was original about these paintings were their very unusual shapes.

I ordered the Blue Fox Breakfast.  It came with seasoned potatoes, bacon strips, two sausage links, two eggs and toast.  "Seasoned" in seasoned potatoes is a mild seasoned salt, not junk like rosemary or thyme.  I didn't really like the odd flavor of the links and only ate one of the them (in fairness, JP thought the sausage was good).  But what I loved was the apple marmalade that came with my sourdough toast.  Flavored with cinnamon, it was incredibly good!  That is a must have for breakfast (it was the marmalade that tilted this review to four stars).

JP requested the Chorizo & Sausage Eggs Benedict option.  It was good and appeared as you would expect a  Benedict dish.

Oh, you can substitute regular fries for seasoned potatoes.

Service was very good.  My only snark, and this is a minor snark, is that the specials were written on the specials board with such cutesey handwriting that they were darn near impossible to decipher.

It was interesting that they our server was peddling a couple of hot drinks with hard alcohol (remember this was mid-morning).  For okay, but not outstanding food in a lively environment, come here.  But you may have quite a wait.

The breakfast was good. It was totally packed due to a wedding event but the staff handled it well. I ordered eggs benedict and was happy with what I got. I'll be back nex time im in Victoria.

We went to the Blue Fox for Sunday morning breakfast based largely upon the reviews we read on Yelp. I am happy to report that we were not disappointed. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and attentive without being overbearing. The food is delicious and plentiful. And the breads are phenomenal as are the homemade preserves for spreading. You can't go wrong. One word of advice: get there early and be prepared to wait, the space is small and people linger over their plates and coffee without being rushed out the door.

Had a good breakfast there this morning. We both had the breakfast special which was quite good.  I especially liked the toast. The sausage was kind of "British" ie boring. It could have used a bit of spice. They were fantastic with our 10 month old son. We got there right after opening at 7:30 and there were plenty of tables. By 8 am on a Tuesday it was packed.

Alright - you know you're in the right place when you're asked "Would you like HP sauce or anything with that?" after you food arrives. YES PLEASE! My husband's family is British so HP sauce is one of the many great British things I have become addicted to thanks to them. It's like a cross between A1 and ketchup. Anyway, on to the restaurant review ;-)

Going with the British theme, I got what was basically a full English breakfast, except not as greasy as you might get in England. 2 eggs cooked perfectly over easy, SUPER CRISPY and amazing seasoned potatoes, 2 local sausage links, fried tomatoes and mushrooms, bacon, buttered toast. It was huge! It was also delicious. The potatoes were good (some chunks were too big and I did get a stray french fry, but no complaints here!), the eggs were perfect for dipping toast in, and they give you a little side of homemade jam or marmalade with your meal.

After waking up at 5AM, a long drive from Seattle, and ferry from Anacortes, I was starving and my brain figured that it must just have rolled over to breakfast time again. If you're in the same boat as me, you'll be glad to know that  breakfast is served until 4PM every day.

Service was good - I can see how some uptight types might be put off by the slightly hippie atmosphere of the place (you're encouraged to fight the man and not use a credit card because of the higher fees, but credit cards ARE accepted, cool fox-related napkin artwork under the glass tops of all the tables) but I will definitely be back next time I'm in Victoria.
