I don't understand the low star rating. I went there for lunch, and had one of the best experience in a while. Has a cozy interior, very nice decoration, the staff was polite, courteous and very efficient. I'm always dissapointed when I order fruit juice in restaurants, afraid to see them pull a box of Oasis concentrated garbage. I asked for Pineapple juice and actually was served real fresh pineapple juice. That's a good start. Went on to order a Mushroom Risotto with parmigiano. It came with very acidic marinated onions on top which was perfect to cut through the rich rice and cheese. I finished it off with a glass of milk and their famous brownies (Three warm, soft, melting, ridiculously good brownies with 2 vanilla ice cream scoop in between). I think it's meant to be eaten by 2.. but I managed to eat two thirds of it and had the last one to go. 28$ taxes and tip included. A joke considering everything I ordered. Highly recommended.

I've eaten at the Blue Door on many occasions as I'm up to Fredericton 2 or 3 times a year for work. This is close to a 4 star for me; however, the soup I had this week - asparagus, zucchini, and something brought this to a 3 star. It, for me, was far too laden with ground cloves. It overpowered the soup and all I can recall from it.

I had the Wok Chicken, which was quite good. And the Brownie for dessert was very good!

    I'll be back.

The Blue Door is terrific. The atmosphere is warm and urban with one wall of exposed brick -very intimate.  The wine menu is extensive! We had the shrimp spring rolls - they were delicious. For our main course we both had the gorgonzola tenderloin with roasted root veggies (I love parsnips - who knew?) and, wait for it - whipped, dreamy olive oil potatoes. The whole meal melted in our mouths. I don't think we spoke during the main course. The presentation was impressive. I can't wait to go back. The only thing that we questioned was why they have their butter in plastic take out condiment containers. Not in keeping with the rest of the upscale feeling.
If you are catching a play, this is within walking distance - in 4 inch heels girls.;-)

If the street view of large bamboo in the window isn't enough to bring you into this modern, chique restaurant, then their Mojitos definitely will!

I've been to the Blue Door many times and only left disappointed once *and only because there was no mint left for Mojitos.

    The Decor:
TBD gets a 5 for atmosphere and style. The walls are complimented with art which is fresh, vibrant, and -of course- local. The downstairs has some wonderful banquettes next to the door which make any party that much more exciting (close to the bar with a great view of the action happening inside). The tables aren't too close together which is nice, however when it's busy, it's busy so don't move around much. Unfortunately, the upstairs is less exciting. There is still art all over, but the whole experience is dulled as it feels like getting thrown in the attic because all of the good spots are taken. I've actually had a full meal at the bar too! My friend and I had a great evening, the food was the same no matter where we would have sat. The only difference was that our drinks arrived instantaneously-AND we had some personalized martinis made.Score!

    The Food:
Fresh, in season, and plated beautifully. The menu changes probably 1-2 times a year which says they take what the do seriously.

    The Service:
Spot-on. TBD doesn't fool around with service. I have yet to have a bad experience. Nothing more to be said, except that I love that the servers get to express their own style since there's no uniform.

    And Finally....

    The Price:
With all the great art displayed, modern Decor, picturesque plates, and great service one would be correct in saying $$$ is an expected/acceptable part of TBD right? Wrong. The food is slightly overpriced, but the fact is this; restaurants in Fredericton think because it's Fredericton and not Vancouver that it's okay to charge $2-$4 more on everything, as if the customer should feel privileged to be seated there. It's a frustrating part of living in a smaller city, but there it is, and we still pay it.

The bottom line is that TBD is a cool place to dine and like I said, makes a KILLER Mojito!

Best restaurant in Fredericton.  If you're into huge portions of mediocre pub food (like so many Frederictonians), this place is not for you.
    Upscale, interesting, tasty, creative.

I had business up in New Brunswick twice this past year and both times got treated to dinner here.  The place is really cool.  It's upstairs so not good for those who can't get up a flight but for the rest.. .I'd highly recommend it.

My first time we started with a baked brie that had yummie fruit in it and some pan seared scallops.  The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly.  For dinner I've tried the bacon wrapped fillet (go for it you can cut it with your fork) the next time I ordered a seafood pasta dish.  It came with salmon and I asked the waitress if I could pass on that (it's one of the few fish dishes I never seem to like) and without blinking the waitress asked if I'd prefer extra scallops or extra shrimp!!!  YAY!  It was DELISH!  The sauce wasn't too heavy and it was nice and garlicky, the shrimps and scallops were plentiful, I couldn't finish the plate and was too full to even attempt dessert though what I saw made me drool!

The wine list is awesome, I had a Cab from a vineyard in Ontario, it had a nice spice in the background.  A friend got a local blueberry beer which I tasted and it was good, they even floated blueberries in it so they bounced around on the bubbles... I thought that was amusing!

If I'm ever up here again I'll make it a mission to go again as it was well worth it and there was a lot on the menu that I wanted to try!

I was in Fredericton on business and enjoyed a nice meal here.  The restaurant is definitely popular with the expense report crowd.  The interior decor is fresh and modern.  My crispy haddock was a well prepared meal, although the portion size was slightly on the small side.

The food is good. The food presentation is fantastic.  The wait staff is wonderfully efficient and do a great job without  hovering.  THey refill your glass and appear out of nowhere to replace lost napkins or whatever they see that you need.  The liquor selection is great and the menu reflects a WEST COAST homage  as well as EAst Coast selections.  This is a place where you should dress - up but casual dress is fine as well.   I have had numerous dishes there over the years and have only made one suggestion about a dish- they listened, & followed up with it the next time I was in.  IN the past, they have had martini nights.  I do like their outdoor patio with its stylish awning over top.    It is definitely an upscale restaurant in the heart of downtown FRedericton.

This is one of the only two places in Fredericton which is reminiscent of a 'city' kind of nightlife spot. People dress up to eat here (unlike most of NB) and the service is taken seriously. We were there on a fully booked Thursday night, and sat in the lounge area. We still felt very much looked-after and everything was great. My partner had the house-made taglietelle which I tasted and was exceptional. I would go back just for that. I had the crusted Atlantic Char, which was well cooked and a nice healthy option, served on lemon cous-cous with bok choy. The creme brulee duo for dessert was excellent. Highly recommended, even if on the pricey side.

had pad thai and it was inedible.  could have been used as a foundation building material.  and Way over priced.  the cook and manager that let that dish go out need serious remediation.  if you can't do it half right, take it off the menu.

every dish that passed my table seemed to have the same congealed white sauce.  guess that is their signature dish.

this is not a place for food, but the drinks are good.  the wait staff definitely hustles.  decor is decent.  just don't expect the food to be worth half of what you pay and you may be satisfied.

another problem is the water, which is undrinkable.  it's overdosed with chlorine.  a serious restaurant would use filtered water for cooking and serving.  the blue door doesn't care and hopes that your standards are as low as theirs.
