Only a four star review because they recently changed management and did away with the (fabulous) sandwiches. They maintained all the coffees, teas, desserts, and daily soup, but it's no longer much of a lunch destination.

Still, it's a wonderful, independent cafe, where you can sip excellent lattes while surrounded by books. Our family favourites are the swamp donkey (latte with maple syrup), the kafka cookie (a chocolate shortbread that could use a bit of salt), and the sweet sassy molassy (ginger cookie). The desserts are made in-house. The coffee is roasted by a company in Bridgewater, but the Biscuit Eater sells bags of beans.

The staff are delightful. Most of them have been working there for years, recognise customers, and know their usual orders.

The patio is in the backyard, making for a protected oasis that gets lots of sun.

Oh, and they sell books! They have both used books and a nice selection of new books from local authors/publishers.
