    Ah. Once again a great start to my day at the BLCH. I can't get over how welcoming the staff are--they are a breath of fresh air. I also couldn't help but notice that they've pulled out all the stops here: plasma menu screens, a top of the line blender and expensive Fair Trade roast. Their prices are great, too. How they do it, I don't know.

    I had the matcha frappe with soy milk and it tasted great. Sometimes Soy just tastes bitter, you know? Not here. My bacon + chicken wrap was yummy too. We ordered our food to go, but then didn't want to go... that's how warm and fuzzy you feel when you come in : ) Big love for this place.

    * BLCH *

    I somehow just can't keep myself from thinking about burping when I see the sign of this place passing by - BLCH?!?!?!  Really???  Ok.....It drew me in as I had to see if I would belch after trying it out.

    For some reason in this stretch of Kingsway I was expecting this to be a Vietnamese cafe.  It isn't!

    I ordered the carne asada tacos.  These were a mixed bag.  The salsa was a delicious smoked chili version with a good level of heat.  Really delicious salsa.  The tortillas were good corn tortillas.  Those were the good things.  The meat was awful.  I'm talking reheated dried out awful.  So sad that it didn't live up to the salsa.  The toppings were a bit short on cilantro, and had lemons instead of limes (apparently the great Vietnamese restaurant lime shortage has spread throughout the neighborhood).  So overall a 5 for the salsa, but a 2 for the tacos overall.  If they could improve their meat and get some cilantro and limes it could be a winner.  Photo:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

    The espresso, while served in a VERY large coffee mug, was spot on.  A solid 4 stars with a nice crema and smooth finish.   Photo:  http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

    Service was very friendly, and very fluent in Spanish.

    So I may return for coffee, but I won't be having any of the food anytime again soon unless I hear it has drastically improved.  Overall a 3!

    Ironically I did find myself with a little belch after walking out the door.  Appropriately named!

    Cycling along Kingsway on a grey, windy Sunday, I needed a latte! Spotting here, I pulled in, chained up the bike, and ran in! What a nice little place :) Very clean, new looking. Makes a change from the very old places I'm used to!

    The guy serving was super nice and friendly, noticing my accent an asking where I was from, how I'm enjoying Vancouver, etc. And what a nice latte! Sure no latte art, but when it tastes nice, no problem! Also had some banana bread...which really does taste like banana!! :O

    Free wi fi, 2 stamps on my card, good view out onto the street, a nice little place :)

    While my four-day weekend should have left me relaxed and carefree, the fact that my internet at home had been down all day left me extremely distressed. Shaking and sweating from withdrawal, I eventually mustered the strength to get up from my spot in front of my screen forlornly F5-ing and set out in search of a coffee shop with free wifi where I could get my e-mail fix for the day.

    Living in the KCC is sort of the Bermuda triangle of Vancouver in terms of there being no Starbucks within a stone's throw, so I used this rare opportunity to try out this relatively new cafe. As I approached on foot, their "Free WiFi" sign beckoned to me and I rushed forth into the cozy interior.

    There was only one other patron, so it was relatively quiet, save for the two TV's. Bizarrely, one was showing the news and the other was showing wrestling. I guess this really increases their chance of appealing to all demographics. While I was curious to try their coffee, the rain rendered it more of a tea kind of day, so I ordered a London Fog from the friendly girl at the counter and nabbed a table.

    Once I had recovered from the frenzy of checking my e-mail and other basic 'net functions, I took a sip of my drink. It was really delicious - one of the better London Fogs I have had. As an added bonus, I enjoy the mugs that they serve their to-stay beverages in. Clear, fluted lip, decent-sized handle. Although I would have loved my experience here for the internet alone, I have to say that I would certainly come back for other reasons as well. Bonus points for comfortable chairs and clean bathroom (the food doesn't look particularly great, however).

    Just went to The Beverage Lounge Coffee House and was pretty happy about the cappuccinos and prices.  The place still has the brand new smell and the staff is very friendly.  It's an easy small shop to miss but it is very classy and quiet.  Next time I go I'll try the food.
