Review from Kenneth E.
Vancouver, BC
It's gone through some renovations and reorganization, trying to be a bit more high-end, after all, this is Oakridge.
Other than Kenneth Cole & tommy hilfigers, nothing else really stands out. It's a fairly big men's store if you include the casual clothing too but compared to the Metrotown & Richmond Bay's, this is the neatest men's department.
Seems like this weekend's a great deal on dress shirts, 40% off already reduced prices on Geoffrey Beene, etc. -

It's kinda funny how, with so many retailers and so many choices, virtually every Canadian couple registers at the Bay for their wedding registry...and feel they have no better choice.
I was among them, and after the whole process I was left thinking "there has to be a better way".
My main beefs:
- prices - they're high, then they have discounts, sometimes. Basically they confuse you so much with their pricing that you have no idea whether you're getting a good deal or not.
- registry scanning system/database - they use some hybrid between something they introduced 20 years ago mixed with something from 5 years ago. If you're getting so much business from your wedding registries, spring for some modern technology!
- product availability - it took 6 months for us to complete all the stuff that our guests had purchased for us on our registry
Other than that, the whole experience was fine, but I'm thinking that it's not long before consumers look to better options for our registry needs, http://amazon.ca maybe? -

Nothing says " gee, I wanna buy lipstick" like the smell of roasted hot dogs in a cosmetics department....I'm not kidding..they were roasting hot dogs and giving them away to clients as a "cosmetic event"..huh??? What is this....Moose Jaw?? I was surprised they weren't also offering Tang...I'm not sure who thought of this idea but I personally do not want to purchase anything that smells like BBQ'd miscellaneous meat...call me crazy....
The staff are all rude and incredibly unhelpful. The store is always a mess. And quite frankly if one more person asks me,"will that be on your HBC card"? I will not be reasonable for my actions....
Skip The Bay and make your way across the boarder to Macy's..it's worth the effort....Listed in: Just Skip It

Of all The Bay locations this is my least favorite. There's a disorganization and poor choice that plagues the store.
We were here looking for jeans for my boyfriend and although we found a style he liked the displays were so jumbled that finding the right size took 15 minutes. And there definitely was no sales assistant on the horizon.
I also ended up getting the Hbc credit card here -- a decision I regret to this day. Hmm, I suppose there's nothing standing between it and a pair of scissors (now I think about it).
Perhaps if you're at Oakridge anyway, visiting this Bay wouldn't be a... well actually, it would still be better to skip it. -

A mess. What else is there to say? (Yes, that includes the staff).

if it wern't for the fact that the Bay contains my favourite skin care I don't think I would shop there.
Today I was desperate, I got up this morning and was getting ready for the day and I went to squeeze my tube of Blade Runner shaving cream... and ... nothing! crap I was out.... so I had to do the worst thing imaginable.. shave without any lotion!! people are cringing I know.
Off to work I went and made a much needed pit stop at the Bay to swing buy the Origins counter. I swooped in, grabbed my shaving cream and headed to the till. This is were it all went wrong. I was pleasantly greeted by the associate who BTW did not offer me a piece of mind handshake. She asked how I would be paying, and on a whim I decided to put it on my Bay credit card (double the points I guess). She swiped my card.. and nothing.... she just stood there and blinked. She then turned to me in a shaky voice as if I was going to yell at her or something "it's says I need to call this in? do you still want to pay this way?" well me in my stubborn way said "hell yes, this is how I am going to pay". how little did I know that I was really going to pay. She called in to authorize and about 10 mins later she had to see my drivers license, and I think she asked for a blood sample as well (kidding). Then she handed the fone to me and I needed to talk to the guy and give him all my information again .. blah blah blah at this point I am thinking why the eff did I not just use my debit card and be done with it. Finally after 20 mins of phone yacking I was able to process my transaction. I guess what happened was I have not used my credit card in over a year and they wanted to know if it was me using the card or if it had been stolen. I guess thats why you are only getting two stars because you were actually looking out for me. the process however was painful and was 20 minutes of my life that I will never get back.
