As expected, this bar is located upstairs. It gets very hot up there in the summer which likely keeps the drinks flowing.
When you walk in, there are tall tables with bar stools and also seating along the sides. There's a full bar in that area.
As you go deeper into the bar, you'll find the dance floor. Always a good time, they do a good job of reading the crowd to determine what music to play. They've got a smaller bar in this area that sells bottled beverages like beer and coolers.
This place is worth a stop on your Whyte Ave pub hopping experience. -

The Attic is a pretty plain bar. It's never really crowded and is not as popular as the rest of the places on Whyte Ave. That being said, I actually don't mind it. You will never have a problem getting in and the drink specials are usually pretty good. They also play good music and feed off the crowd, they aren't stubborn here and like to play whatever keeps the majority happy.
The decor of this bar is pretty boring. All black, seems like they didn't put any effort into making it look better. Anyways, If you are tired of the packed bars on Whyte and want something with a little more arm space here it is. -

I have visited Attic during one of the nights of bar hopping with my friends. We have never been here before, and let me assure you that we most certainly will not be going back. We stood in the line for the good 40 minutes which is the biggest ordeal when it is cold outside. Upon entering the bar, the first thing we noticed was that our shoes were sticking to the floor. We came into the bar very late at night, so my interpretation of the sticky floor is that many people throughout many hours have been spilling their many alcoholic drinks on the floor.
The place was packed. The average age of the bar crowd seemed to be 18. I felt old and sad at Attic. And so did my friends. We ordered some drinks specials which were ok. The music was just like in any other Edmonton bar except that the DJ blasted off Michael Jackson's "Thriller" which me and my friends (being old people we are:) enjoyed quite a bit.
Half an hour is all the time we spent at Attic, and it was more than enough. Off to another bar we went. -

I've been to the Attic a few times during bar hopping stints of my late '20s. Attic was never my favourite place but it was free to get in and the drink specials were pretty good. It's never been very crowded when I was there. I think face challenges getting people inside when there are so many other cooler options on Whyte. I find Attic very plain and boring. Black walls and a layout that is not conducive to creating a strong vibe. It's long, the dance floor's stuffed at the back, the main room is filled with tables and not much else. Nothing interesting on the walls and the bar's small, so you're often stuck behind two or three people when waiting to order. It feels more like a party rental room, not a hip club along the bar strip. The Attic could do so much cool with the space - like give it the feel of an attic - old vintage furniture, wood, velvet, chandeliers, mirrors. Right now it's just a space without much vision.
