Review from Wendy P.
5 stars. Really? I was a bit skeptical of what level of service/training I'd receive after my Ultimate Frisbee team signed up for 5 weeks worth of sessions with a trainer. I had my preconceptions about trainers, especially ones that came with a gym attached. It's a good thing I know how to still keep an open mind.
I thought I had found the one and only thing wrong with the place with the tipsy bench in the ladies' locker room. Except they changed that out for a nice cushy padded bench that doesn't fall over. Crap. 5 stars.
There were 8 of us doing weight and cardio training with Robin. We even got to come in for a free session so we could meet him and get to know the gym a little bit before our first official session started. Part of me doesn't quite want to relive all of the drills and exercises we went through, so I won't go into details. But suffice it to say, I was pushed to my limits every time, but never in any way that would cause me injury. Robin or another trainer was with each of us every time, correcting our form, making sure we weren't lifting too much weight, offering tips and advice to help us improve.
Athlete Factory is where you go if you want to see some serious improvement and are committed to doing the work your trainer is recommending for you. Don't waste their time if you're not. And if you do go, group training sessions are a great way to go!

Just as it sounds... they are the Athlete Factory
You don't have to be an "athlete" to train here but hey... if you're not, don't you think that kind of training would be a benefit to you regardless?
If you ARE an athlete, WHY wouldn't you train here. No one produces more high performance and professional athletes in this city than these guys.
I wish the Athlete Factory existed when I played rugby for Calgary. What a difference it would have made in my performance.
So why these guys? Because, they are or were Athletes and they understand the athlete mindset.
eg: Coach Laura currently plays for the Canadian Senior Women's National Rugby team.
They know their stuff. Period.
The Coaches (Trainers) have coaches... how cool is that? In fact, even the ownership has a coach. Talk about some serious accountability.
Why hire them? Because they love what they do and if you're going to do the work they give you - in and out of the gym - you're guaranteed results!
Loads of free parking, tons of space, and a coach that will hold you accountable to the goals you're planning to achieve.
Thus - the Athlete "Factory".

History
Established in 2010
The Athlete Factory was founded by Paul Balsom. In the sports conditioning world Paul Balsom is something of an anomaly. In addition to representing Great Britain in both Decathlon and Bobsleigh, he also played Rugby at a professional level. To compete to this standard in not one but three sports gave Paul unprecedented access to a variety of world class coaches and especially conditioning coaches.
The opportunities were not lost on Paul. Since leaving competition he has dedicated his life not only to producing World and Olympic Champions but to bringing functional, health based personal training to the general public. Paul has coached close to one hundred international and professional athletes in multiple sports. He has rehabbed countless injuries, back problems and helped clients with general health and weight problems.
Now, through the Athlete Factory, we share this with all of you!
