Review from Kait W.

The Animal Clinic is a really great pet hospital and I've had nothing but good experiences here. My boyfriend and I had adopted two kittens after moving downtown and decided that The Animal Clinic would be the best place to take them.
On our first visit, they did all the preliminary checkups, did the vaccinations that we approved and didn't push anything that we were not comfortable with (we did not want all of the vaccinations because we live in a small apartment and they would not ever be getting the chance to go outside or interact with other unvaccinated animals), they even charged us for only one stool sample instead of two though we do have two cats. Our vet was even good natured enough to laugh and wasn't the least bit upset when our more curious kitten unplugged his keyboard, and stomped around his computer area.
We had both kittens spayed/neutered here. They were scheduled to get spayed/neutered at the same time, but when the bloodwork came through, we found out that our female cat had a liver problem. They immediately called us, to let us know that they would be continuing with our male cat's neutering and allowed us to ask any questions. Being that these are our first pets, both my partner and I were on the phone asking questions several times before even going back to pick them up. When we did go back to the office to pick up the kittens, we found out that they had put our female cat in the cage with our male cat so that he would have company and wouldn't be upset while he was recovering. They also fed our female cat as she hadn't eating since the day before (fasting for surgery). The vet sat with us for 45 minutes, answering every question we had and showing us how to pill our female cat.
When it came time to have our female cat spayed, we weren't charged for her blood test (it was a follow up to assure that her medication had worked). She did accidentally get her ear clipped during sugery as she is extremely fussy and refused to wear her body sock, but when we picked her up, we got apologies from every one of the staff.
Overall, as a young couple with two new cats, we had a lot of questions, all which were answered in full detail. The vets and technicians are very very kind and patient. -

My pets (cat and dog) and I have been going to this place until recently... Here is why... My BF and I started to realize that this place will do its best to get all your money even if it's not necessary. My dog had eaten a granola bar. We called the vet to ask what we needed to do to make sure that all is good. The manager- Alda, had almost screamed on the phone- " you have to bring her in immediately for stomach flushing!!!!".
So we did. As soon as my BF arrived she wouldn't get off the phone, ummm, where's the urgency now?
Over $500 later we find out from another vet that nothing bad would have happened at all except for some indigestion. It's only when such things as chocolate can be harmful due to high sugar levels and a danger of your pet having a heart attack.
This is the vet that we go to now...
All in all, I think that this place will feed you information because you love your pet and will do anything to have him/her healthy and they will take advantage of that.
They will make your pet get shots that are not really required and run tests that are unnecessary and their prices are really high comparing to other places for such services as pets simple physical examination etc.
I don't doubt the skills and experience of all these doctors but I think that their overall agenda is not purely focused on your pet's health only...It's also on your wallet... -

Like Adam P., we also have a French Bulldog and love The Animal Clinic! When we got our dog she had a few health hiccups and the clinic was extremely helpful. The owner, Dr. John (a frenchie expert) even called me at home on a Sunday to discuss a test result and some options. That to me is above and beyond.
They are very good about suggesting less costly options before going all the way with things like ultrasounds and other tests which is something I don't experience often at vets. They also do laser surgery which we will be doing when our dog gets fixed. I've heard great things about this method.
Perhaps my favourite thing is the hours and services offered. They are open 7-7 on weekdays and for a few hours on Saturday so I never, ever have problems booking around my schedule. They also have grooming in house and daycare, which is helpful if you need to drop your dog off for something and go to work.
I almost gave a 4 star review because one of the desk staff is pretty surly most of the time but honestly, everyone else there is just too amazing. They all know my dog's name and greet her when she comes in (seriously, if I can only imagine how special she feels in her little doggy brain). Like some have mentioned, the prices are higher, but I can assure you it is worth it. Our dog actually pulls us to the door when we get close! -

I go to this place because I have a French Bulldog who can have unique health issues and sometimes can't follow the same run of the mill remedies. I have heard of horror stories where these dogs were mis-diagnosed and created even more problems. This place is run by Dr. John Reeve-Newson, who (wink wink), used to breed french bulldogs.
I have been going there since he was a pup and will keep going back. From the laser neutering to a free visit, I just feel very comfortable going there. The free visit was because we were only in the office for like 10 mins for a problem that the Dr said to just let it run its course. The other times have been regular checkups. I find they are good at telling you what you need and what you can go without.
My comparison is more towards other emergency places (which I've been to), and you just don't get the same vibe. At this place I really feel like Dr. John cares about the dog's well being and cares about the owners to not gouge them.
The pricing? Well I can't do too many comparisons because I'm only used to there and the emergency vets, but $80 for a wellness checkup seems reasonable. -

This is a high-end clinic with good facilities including the ability to do laser surgery. They do tend to recommend more than bare-bones care, including full blood work before procedures such as spaying. This is reflected in their prices, which are definitely on the high side.
All the vets and staff I've dealt with have been very nice, and the care my cats have gotten has been excellent. The waiting area is large, and there are separate areas for dogs and cats, which is nice. You're offered a coffee when you arrive. I've never had trouble getting an appointment at a time convenient for me. My cats are young and healthy and I've only been going to this vet for a year, so I don't have a lot of experience with them, but I'm happy with them so far and would recommend them - especially if you have pet insurance that helps cover the fees. They submit the claims directly to the insurance company for you, which is a nice touch. -

I recently had my first visit at The Animal Clinic after leaving a vet that I had lost faith in after a bad experience. The service was excellent coming through the door - the receptionist was polite and friendly with me AND my dog, and they offered me complimentary coffee and tea while I waited for my appointment (I had never had such a short wait at a clinic before!). I found the vet to be thorough and sensitive to my cost concerns - they gave me all of the test and treatment choices that were available and were willing to work with me to choose the best options for my dog within my budget. When the veterinarian finished my appointment, which lasted about half an hour, he had the manager give me a tour and I was able to see their amazing facilities. They followed up with me the next day with test results, and even a few days later to make sure Bruno was feeling better! I would definitely recommend this clinic to fellow animal lovers if you want the best service for your best four-legged friend.

The vet was very honest about vaccines that are NOT necessary. Unlike most vets he was realistic about what animals really need vs. trying to sell you on fear. I felt he was honest and knowledgable. This clinic is not in my area but I make the trek. I would give 5 stars but I am not sure how pricey it is compared to other vets.

I used to take my dog to the Queen West Animal Hospital, but when I moved to the Church and Wellesley neighbourhood, I decided to look for a vet closer to home. I did some research and found The Animal Clinic. I sent them an email looking for information, and the vet clinic manager immediately responded to me, and invited me in for a tour/consultation. At the end of August I decided to bring my dog in to be spayed. We went for a consultation, and she had her procedure done about a week later. I was very happy with the treatment that she received. The staff is friendly and helpful, the clinic is clean and spacious, and it is handy for me to walk to. The price for the procedure was comparable to that which I was quoted at Queen West ($505 for a mature dog spay done by laser surgery) I will be bringing my dog in next week to have her stitches removed but for now have been happy with my experience at the Animal Clinic.

My 13-year-old dog and I visited Dr. John Reeve-Newson at this clinic today. All I can do is rave about him. He was very knowledgeable and genuinely kind. Right away he shook my hand and told me he prefers all of his clients to call him "John". He immediately won my dog over (this has never happened at the vet in his more than 13 years!) by only giving him affection and treats for the first while. He looked at a lump on my dog's back and said it was possible that it is a tumor, but was confident it is most likely a cyst. Then he told me that if it were his dog he would closely monitor rather than remove it. He didn't want to put my dog under any unnecessary stress given his old age. His honesty left me 100% impressed. In terms of facilities and my experience, I give this clinic 5 stars. Unfortunately, they are a bit pricey, so I only gave them 4 stars. However, the extra bucks are worth the money you could save by visiting an honest vet (not to mention being able to leave feeling confident with their advice).
