TWO DOLLAR MARGARITAS at happy hour. Good margaritas. Margaritas with actual alcohol in them. Generous margaritas. Margaritas with flavor.
Is there any need to write more? Nooooo!
But I will.
I happen to really like the ambiance of this place. But I'm more "soccer mom" than "soccer fan". As a matter of fact, one day I'm going to manage to plant myself on that sofa by the beautiful fire. I don't know a thing about soccer, but if I did, I'd watch it here. I'd get fatter and fatter with each and every game. The menu is creative and fun, and I will eventually make my way through it, one happy pound at a time.
These people understand spicy. The Inferno Burger, in Daughter Number 2 and my humble opinion, earns its name. This is definitely a two margarita burger. Maybe three. But it was The Gaffer that brought me back two weeks in a row. That hefty sucker is comfort food on a bun and is what's required on a wet, dreary day. The margarita on the side provides the needed sunshine. I'm a picky meatloaf eater, this one meats (har-har) my standard. For my second successful attempt to find some of the 20 lbs I lost in October and November, I diverted from Margaritaville and paired The Gaffer with a Strongbow cider. Simply the best cider I've had, can or no can.
The Burger Sliders are excellent also, and hardy enough that a couple of broke post-Christmas Plano-ite ladies could share the $7.99 appetizer and a couple of happy hour margaritas for under $7 each. Where can you eat for that? This same meal deal option would also work with the generous stacked nachos. I have only gazed at them longingly as they were devoured at another table, but they're at the top of my wish list.
Obviously, I love this place, but not all is perfect in Camelot. It's a little hit and miss, well, more hit than miss, and my comments need to be read with the understanding that "your results may vary". The Husband was less than thrilled with his patty melt. His comment was that it was ok, but not good enough to pull him back to the restaurant. A sauce of some sort would enhance the sandwich. The restaurant brags that all items are made in-house, but the abundant supply of peas and carrots in the Cottage Pie looked suspiciously of the frozen variety. Carrots are cheap restaurant meal flavor enhancers and meal bulker-uppers, so a few sliced fresh ones would be a win-win.
My only real concern is that the restaurant's location has a poor record for restaurant survival. This friendly and earnest effort deserves to succeed. In order to do that, it needs our patronage. Next time you think you'll go out with the ladies/church group/team leaders/SOCCER TEAM, drive on past the chains and give this local spot a chance. You'll be glad you did. -

My wife and I came here a few months ago based on the Yelp reviews. She got the Chicken Fried Chicken and I got the Mushroom & Swiss Burger. Both dishes were great.
I usually prefer Burgers over Chicken Fried Chicken. However, after tasing my wife's chicken, I have decided that the next time we come here, I will have to order the chicken myself. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! -
Review from Erin D.
I came to this restaurant the night before the USA National Women's Team game against New Zealand, since this is the home of the American Outlaws Dallas chapter (supporters group for the USA soccer teams). We were in a room with booths and tables, straight ahead of the door. The room was pretty empty, once the non-USA people left. I suppose this restaurant doesn't get a lot of traffic for pre-game parties.
Service was okay, but at one point the waiter seemed a little too sarcastic for my taste. After delivering food, he asked, "Is there anything else you need?" My friend replied, "Silverware." He said, "Oh yeah, you do." He attempted to discuss soccer with us (even talking about someone being naked), but I was completely lost, as it was obvious he didn't know what he was talking about (pet peeve of mine - don't pretend!). He did let me order from the kids menu though, and my corn dogs with macaroni and cheese satisfied my craving. Both were really good, although hard to screw up. The long island iced teas were okay, but nothing that screams, "Yes! I have to go back!" I should note when we finally left, the restaurant and bar were pretty empty on a Friday night at 10:30PM.
I think the "I've experienced better" rating really comes from the atmosphere. It is a well-known fact Houston and Dallas supporters have a strong rivalry and don't get along for Major League Soccer games. With that said, the Dallas supporters can't put aside our differences for the USA game. We are all supporting the same country, and therefore, we should all be on the same side, especially since we are all part of a national organization. Instead, we were completely ignored. A Dallas guy made it a point to invite all the other booths individually around us to the bar. He said loudly so we could overhear, "Let's all move to the bar!" Did our Houston booth get an invite? Nope.
My point is, is that if you're not a Dallas person coming to this official US Soccer bar for a USA game, don't bother. The American Outlaws chapter may advertise they welcome all USA supporters, but we learned firsthand that this is not true. Not a single Dallas person came to introduce themselves, even though some of them had hung out with us in Houston when they came for Gold Cup last June. Therefore, I consider this restaurant an unwelcoming place and won't return again. -

Not too shabby. Their happy hour was okay, fairly good prices. Should have opted for the $2 house margaritas over their $1 drafts. My girlfriend and I split an order of chips and queso. By far the weirdest queso I've ever had in my life. I'm still not sure if I like it or not.
We didn't order any entrees, but plenty of other tables around us did. It looked fairly decent. Definitely a step up from bar food. Over all not too bad. Service was decent. Ambiance was decent. Try it out if you just want to mix up your routine! -

Second time here and I am just as impressed as I was the first time! Have had the chicken ceasar salad...awesome! Today I had grilled salmon which was a perfect portion and grilled to perfection, it came with three sides so I had corn on the cob (yummy but no salt added) green beans like my grandma use to make and seasonal veggies which consisted of broccoli, bell pepper and carrots! Customer service is awesome as well!

Love this place! Great food, awesome people, killer service!! You can watch a variety of games whilst drinking a variety of beers, and sometimes they even have specials!
My only warning is that I'm pretty sure their Chocolate Cake contains peanuts...and it's not really a cake. We ordered it because it was the only thing my boyfriend liked (there was no description so we just thought it was a piece of cake), but upon inspecting it at home I found some sort of filling in it. Then when I tried it it had something crunchy, like nuts. I'm pretty sure it was peanuts, in which case I'm glad we didn't eat it there because he's allergic to peanuts and I probably wouldn't have inspected it.
That's really my only beef with the place. I would give it 5 stars if they would list stuff with potential peanuts so as to not kill unsuspecting peoples allergic to peanuts!!1 Previous Review: Show all »

The FC Dallas franchise has been kicked around Dallas more than the ball itself. From stadium to stadium, deeper and deeper into the burbs, I can't help but feel bad for soccer fans in Dallas. There are so few of them but those few care about their team so much. Their team is even pretty damn decent but no one shows up. What a nightmare. Guess that's how you can tell who's truly a fan. When the glitz is all but completely gone the 15ish people who watched a match with me in the front room of The Allen Wickers will be out there in the sun cheering their team on while the rest of the city just doesn't give a damn.
I watched to watch a match in Dallas but had no idea where to go. A quick Yelp app search of Soccer lead me here. All the way out to Plano, TX. On the long, traffic filled drive out I hoped and prayed this place would be worthwhile.
It's hard to miss. Allen Wickers is decked out. Team decals on the windows outside make it very obvious that this is probably the premier place in the Dallas area to watch some footy. Inside they display plenty of framed FC Dallas merchandise and even have an FC Dallas inspired burger on the menu.
Like I said, there's a dedicated viewing soccer room in the front with about 5 TVs, booths surrounding and tables filling in the middle. The rest of the bar seems to play whatever is on at the time and when I was here it was the Rangers in the World Series that dominated just about every other screen in the place. Seems to be a pretty soccer heavy bar on a normal day, though, as evidenced by how much memorabilia is all over the walls.
It's no secret that FC Dallas has some of the lowest attended games in the league but it's still very nice to see a local business go the extra mile for the fans, no matter the numbers. The Allen Wickers also claims the Dallas area's official viewing bar for the United States Mens National Team.
They've got a decent beer selection, pour a hell of a snakebite and serve up all the pub fare you'd expect. The place is staffed by super young servers who go out of their way to be witty yet come across as just kind of comedy-challenged and awkward, but at least they're attentive, fast and not yet jaded by the service industry.
I met some nice people in here even though I was wearing a Timbers shirt. Throughout the evening I always knew I had the upper hand on smack talk even if we were well behind Dallas in the league at that point...
"Come on out to Portland, I'll show you a crowd."

One does not come to The Allen Wickers for its ambiance. But the service is decent, and it offers two truly magical items: Franziskaner hefeweizen on draft ($4.50 for 1L at happy hour) and simply the best fish burger ($8.80) I ever had. Yum, yum, yum.
For this quality of product at these prices, I can tolerate the we-put-a-bar-into-a-retail-space atmosphere.

Pretty decent beer selection (always an ipa on draft, franconia is in regular rotation) and good service. I've eaten a variety of meals there, all ranging from pretty good to great. Patty melt was pretty good, but could have been a little juicier or had some kind of sauce to moisten it up a little bit. Cottage pie was also a solid choice, not the best I've ever had but above average for sure. Love the fish and chips and the fish burger, they have great fries as well. But to not mention one of the appetizers there would be criminal. Try something called the Rounders. We go there just for them sometimes. Mashed potato balls with bacon, cheese, and jalapenoes then lightly battered and fried, served with ranch, and not the cheap knock off ranch that doesn't really taste like the real deal (if your a ranch aficionado you know what i mean). These things are ridiculous. They can't be incredibly good for you, yet i don't feel even the slightest bit guilty eating them. Honey badger don't care. So very tasty, so very good, so very right.
Thumbs up to the Allen Wickers - definitely give these guys a shot! -
Review from Daniel K.
Seems like a pretty cool place, especially to watch some sports. Atmosphere is somehow more upscale than the average sports bar, yet really inviting.
I had a Groupon and enjoyed a light lunch. Caesar Salad is pretty good, but too much dressing for my taste. Tomato Basil Soup is awesome, with fresh basil on top adding a nice touch. Don't think it needed the cheddar cheese, though.
Their other menu items sound tasty and I'll have to try them some other time (didn't feel like anything heavy today), especially with those cheap prices. And the staff is friendly, so I'll probably be back. -

Coupled with its interesting history of its namesake, the Allen Wickers Pub taps into that good, home cooking. With eccentric, yet delicious home delights like the Rounders which are fried mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, bacon bits with jalapeno balls, Allen Wickers definitely satisfies.
Everything on the menu is homemade right down to the garlic herb tortillas used for the chicken Caesar wraps. Other tasty treats include the Gaffer, a burger with a wedge of meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The homemade gravy is delicious. Their soups (chili, potato, tomato basil, and chicken noodle) are rich and delicious. Anything on the menu is an excellent choice, really.
It may be easy to think that all of this wonderful food would come in at a big price, but the meals are very cheaply priced and they also offer a deal if you dine with them 5 times for lunch, your sixth lunch is free. So head to Plano and get you some Allen Wickers! -

The Bartender is so friendly and she stays on top of things. She's what a bartender should be, friendly, personable. Everyone I've encountered here has been very nice and helpful.
I LOVE the fact that they have $1.50 Pabst Blue Ribbon EVERYDAY ALL DAY.
I've only tried 2 menu items so far. I had their fish and chips. It was good, but not the best I've ever had. I also ordered the rounders appetizer which my bf and I really liked.
This is a nice pub. Beautiful fireplace in the center of the restaurant. Nice leather sofas to lounge on while watching one of the many televisions throughout the restaurant playing sports events, mainly soccer.
Even though its right off 75 The Allen Wickers feels like your neighborhood bar but with a much better menu. -

My husband and I come here all the time. It is very close to our house and is never crowded. They have a good selection of beer on tap and decent food for a bar. The service is always great! It is so much better than going to Dallas (no parking, crowded, loud).

My husband has been here before meeting with friends for beer. Yesterday was my first time in the place and our first time to eat there. We had the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. So so good! Nothing was greasy, the cream gravy was fantastic, the eggs cooked perfectly and our waiter was wonderful.
Also, the decor is really nice, not too much stuff around to catch dirt and dust over time. Will be back for sure! -

The distinct absence of patrons, and the accompanying deafening silence, says all you need to know about this place. Only went/ate because of the Yelp coupon...bad decision. Guess they forgot to pay the cable bill, because there was nothing on. No music, no TV, no patrons. Pretty sure my server was also the cook and the busboy...he was the only warm body I saw the whole time, except for seating by an otherwise-absent hostess. Food was as generic as it comes.

For Mother's day I had a special craving for a good Fish n Chips, so I looked on yelp and read the reviews and decided this was the place. I really enjoy going to a restaurant that I have never been too and having a great experience is an added bonus.
This is truly a great pub! From the moment you walk in you get a warm feeling and that is nice to get any time you walk into a new place.
The atmosphere was fun... several tv's with basket ball to baseball going on for all to watch.
The service was a wow factor for us. Our waiter did a great job and NEVER once did our glass of delicious teas go to the bottom. They have really great teas. Regular, Sweet and blackberry sweet tea OMG the blackberry was delicious.
The food holly cow with 5 of us we all basically got something different and that was an added bonus for me seeing how I got to try it all. We started off with the combo appetizer, that was good the poppers yummy and the fired pickles best I have had. I had the fish and chips YUMMY the fish was delicious nice fluffy and white the way I like it. Cole slaw was perfect. Hamburgers wow very good and the buns they use really make them good. Chicken fried steak wow this was the best I have had in a long time.
I really wanted dessert but we were all way too full so next time I will certainly try more.
I recommend this to anyone as the wide variety of food I am sure you will find something on the menu you will enjoy. -

My first experience here far exceeded my expectations as far as pub food goes.
Everything others have written is on the mark: excellent service; a friendly and engaging manager, and delicious fare with many entrees under $10.00. My companion ordered the chicken salad sandwich and the staff gladly substituted Texas toast for the marble rye. A moist tasty sandwich loaded with chicken salad with a distinct taste of dill. I had the fish burger (sandwich). Filled with cabbage, tomato, and fried with a tasty tempura batter. Onion rings had a great crunch but not too heavy, greasy, or over-battered.
We'll back soon to try some of the tasty looking items such as the Shepherds pie and the meatloaf sandwich.
P.S. They also participate in the AA American Airlines Advantage miles dining program. You can earn as much as 5 miles per $1 spent. -

The sign outside just says "The Public House". Inside, it looks pretty damn inviting. Never would guess that it used to be Mac's. I took my dad to lunch with a coupon and I wish I had tried this place sooner! We had $25 to spend and that was more food than we could eat. We started off with the onion rings. Thick cut onions with a batter that has some corn flakes ground in it. They look heavy, but surprisingly light and tasty!
I ordered the pork chop with fresh veggies as my 2 sides. Veggies were not overcooked at all and still a little crispy. Broccoli, bell peppers, and carrots sautéed with a butter sauce. The pork chop was a boneless pork loin that usually would come out dry, but they did a good job not overcooking this either. It came out nice and juicy. Dad had fish and chips. Fresh and flakey cod(I think) that had a very crispy but light batter. He loved it! Fries just looked like average fries, but I didn't try any. He left a few on his plate.
The server wasn't overbearing, but our drinks never came close to being empty. The manager even came to our table to talk to us and give us lunch cards. After a few visits, we get a free lunch. Lunch portions were plenty for us and we even had to take some home. Plenty of TVs to watch sports on. They will change them to any event you want. I want to go back and have a couple of pints. Couldn't on this day since I drive for a living and had to head back to work. -

Husband and I were looking for a dinner spot last weekend and checked Yelp for a new place to try and saw that The Allen Wickers had some good reviews. We decided to stop in and check it out, and we were not disappointed!
The interior is really well decorated and inviting--it totally makes you want to sit around to enjoy a few rounds of drinks and good conversation.
The food is quite good as well. We both had the pork chops--yum! I want to try the fish and chips, as we saw a guy eating some at the table next to us and they looked pretty tasty.
The one thing that really makes this place stand out is the service. Our waiter, Mason, was courteous and made sure we had full drinks for our whole visit. The manager, Matt, was really great as well. We ordered the cheese sticks as an appetizer. Because they only had enough to make half an order, he had the kitchen make the remaining cheese sticks for us, then comped them AND gave us a coupon for a free appetizer on our next visit.
We'll definitely be back, and it won't just be for the free appetizer. When the staff takes the time to visit with its guests to get to know them, then you know the place is special. -

I heard about Allen Wickers through my Group-on Now search for something near me and decided to grab lunch on the go. The place was dead when I picked up my food, which was not a good sign during the lunch rush. I ordered the Fenerbache, which is a triple decked ham and turkey club on rye. It was good, but the lunch portion which I ordered was only half the sandwich and left me feeling half full. I also ordered the chili, which I'm pretty certain came out of a Hormel Chili can because it was just as bland. While I'm not a fan of this place I do like that they use recyclable containers for carry out orders and that the staff was friendly.

This is an AMAZING resturant. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and had a SPECTACULAR expierence. My boyfriend who has frequented pubs in London told me the atmosphere and the food was so much better. I couldn't agree more. We ordered sliders (juicy, perfectly cooked, with sweet onions and homemade rolls dipped in ranch), I ordered the shepards pie (the perfect balance of meat/potatoes and vegetables) and my boyfriend ordered a meatloaf sandwich (which he said was rich and a genius idea).
The place was clean and neat. Our waiter, whose name is PARKER, was AWESOME - quite possibly the best waiter I have ever had. I wanted to tell the manager how amazing his customer service skills were but settled for the hostess as we were leaving. -

I have visited The Allen Wickers AKA The Public House AKA Allen Wickers Bar & Grill about five times now. I have been there mostly during mid afternoons during the week and for lunch on Saturdays.
I was looking for a draft house that would play soccer and that's the motif that they're going for. While the atmosphere is a bit sterile compared to more established pubs around town (Trinity Hall, Londoner), you can tell they're really trying and that goes a long way, in my book. But, one might accuse them of having had a Disney World consultant come in with the order to decorate this place like a soccer pub without actually having been to one. What it lacks in authenticity, it makes up for in cleanliness and plenty of seating with great views of the screens. It should be noted that they desperately need to get some shades on their windows, as the glare hurts clear views of the TVs facing outward.
Another note on the TVs: they can show up to 4 different games/shows/feeds throughout the restaurant simultaneously. However, almost every time I've been in, the bartenders have struggled to get the right TV affixed to the request channels. It seems like whomever set it up made it overly-complicated. I digress...
Drinks - they carry about 8-10 beers on tap with a broad selection in styles and countries; something for everyone, including you trucker-beer fans (PBR). There are even more selections for bottled beer. Since it's a full bar they have the range of liquor as well, for you shot-and-a-beer folks.
Food - I cannot honestly comment on their food because I have only ever ordered the chips-and-queso with my beer. I will say that it's a damn fine queso and surprisingly spicy!
Staff - The staff has always been friendly and have gone out of their way to make recommendations or accommodate my requests for channels and games. The times I've been here have been during low-traffic hours so I've never had issues with late food or checks.
Lastly, since I recommend this place as a hub to watch Euro and MLS Soccer, I would implore you fans to get out here and give them some business. It's a public house, after all! And Plano NEEDS this type of venue to stick around. -

We went to this restaurant and brought some family from out town at the recommendation of a friend.
I ordered the meat loaf with green beans and mashed potatoes. The gravy (brown) tasted like it was from an envelope and the meatloaf tasted like cafeteria salsbury steak. Now, don't get me wrong sometimes you just crave cafeteria salsbury steak (nostalgic for elementary school days anyone?).... yesterday was not one of those days. The green beans were flavorful but not memorable.
My boyfriend and cousin ordered the chicken friend chicken, the breading was light and crunchy and the chicken was juicy. Very tasty and the gravy (white) was good but not great. My cousin's boyfriend ordered the chicken friend steak, he enjoyed it but said it wasn't as good compared to Kelly's East Side.
The waiter was friendly but seemed a little nervous, probably new. We were greeted by no less than 4 people when we entered and the MOD came out to ask us how the food was. I probably should have given him my opinion of the meatloaf but I did not.
This restaurant is pretty new and seems to be trying to bill itself as "British" but there were very few items on the menu that were British. I think this place would be much better with a revamping of the menu. It felt like the food selection was all over the place (a little like Chili's). They need to find their own 'style' and make it work for them. Allen Wickers could have a niche but they have some work to do.
P.S. I loved the big fire place in the middle of the dining room! Oh and they had a pretty decent selection of beers. I am willing to go back and try something else on the menu and explore their beer selection. -

I've been craving English pasties for a while, and I found this "British pub" that turned out to be neither very British nor a pub. And no pasties either, or other common English fare. I did, however, have the best fish and chips in my life, for what that's worth. I'm not sure I'd come back just for that though. The search continues...

This place is on Central where Alamo, nee Mac's used to be. Things have not gone well in this location. Alamo gave bad food new meaning and Mac's was like an aging beauty that simply gave up. But, the Love Muffin and I were hungry, it was close and I was uninspired. So, there we went. We walked in and fear struck this brave heart - it was almost empty. But, the Love Muffin and I were hungry, it was close and I was uninspired so in we went.
Lunch was a series of surprises. The beer selection was extensive. It is probably inadequate or completely wrong for some but it had our favorites and it was wonderfully cold and the price is good. So far - so good. We decided if the beer is cold it cannot be all bad. We ordered the queso. This was the first surprise. Not a shred of Velveeta. Rather it was a wonderfully creamy jack concoction with a collection of delightful heat producing thingys. It was simply great. On the downside, the chips were lousy but good cold beer and adequate queso disguise them. I am happy and the Love Muffin is joyous.
I am beginning to forget the sadness of Alamo and Mac's. In for a penny we decide to go for lunch. We settle on burgers. For the Love Muffin the addition of cheese is a daring adventure. I, on the other hand, am filling cast iron. I order this thing (forgot the name) that is a jalapeno festival. The bun has jalapenos baked in. It tastes as if it was just baked in the kitchen and is fantastic. The burger meat has "infused" jalapeno. Add to this pepper jack cheese with a side of chipolte mayo and we have heaven. These burgers are an angus 80/20 med/rare surprise. They are wonderful! The fries are OK and the onion rings are better. I am happy and the Love Muffin is joyous.
Service is good. The prices are surprisingly low. The food is really good, except for those lousy chips. The beer is wonderfully cold. I am happy and the Love Muffin is joyous. -

I loved this place! The staff is friendly and inviting. The waitstaff is perky and willing to do anything to make you happy. The food was awesome (the queso was especially awesome, but the salsa, not as much). I had the chicken fried steak with mash and fried okra. Was better than mom used to make. Give this place a go if you want some great eats but tired of the same factory food they churn out at the chain bars and grills.

I'm a fan...it's a little random having a European style football pub in Plano but they pull it off without being pretentious about it. They made a really good choice with their menu and didn't try to go with English fare. I like English food but I appreciate the Keep it Simple Stupid mentality and they accomplished that. Besides if you aren't going to be good at it, don't do it. I had the Wally with a Brawley which to call it a hotdog is a serious under-statement. Not to mention they wrap bacon around it and deep fry it. Yes, they got me with stuffing meat with meat. I mean really...it's meat stuffed with meat. This is where I would try to use the word engastration in a sentence. Oh wait, I just did...nice. I heard some people next to me at the bar talking about the meatloaf, I'll have to try that next time.
The beer selection is to the point as well. Good beer served very cold.
All in all: 5 stars...what can I say, they stuffed meat with meat. -

Not really a soccer fan but love the old pictures and could find myself actually watching a game here. The decor and atmosphere was cool but could be douchey' depending on what time you were to go here. Awesome leather couches and flat screens EVERYWHERE. Staff was great and the food wasn't bad either. It wasn't overpriced but I did have a Living Social coupon. They said a groupon was coming soon so definitely scoop one up if you remember. I had the inferno burger and it was so so. Not hot like it was described and the jalapeno taste was "light" . Wifey had fish and chips and loved it. I don't eat much fish but I tasted some and will probably order it next time I go. I would give it 3.5 stars. Rounded down because of the dessert. Had cheesecake and it was out of a box, guaranteed. Pass on that for sure. ALMOST FORGOT... 18oz. PBR on draft all the time.

Honestly, I did not know what to expect when I pulled up out front. I'm here to meet a friend for drinks and food (yes in that order). I was surprised when the front door swung open and I was greeted by a welcoming staff member. I mean who opens the door for you anymore with a genuine welcome? Big kudos for hospitality!
Upon entering my first thought was, "Wow, this place is big." It's divided into what I would call three and a half sections. Directly in front of you is The Boot Room. I'm thinking it's the perfect spot to grab 50 of your closest friends and cheer on your favorite football (soccer) team. Next you walk through the spacious dining area where there are plenty of booths and tables. It's perfect if you are just looking to grab some good grub. Then there is the open fireplace which separates the dining room from what I'll call the "lounge area". VERY NICE! They have a couple of big leather couches surrounded by booths and plenty of TVs for your viewing pleasure. Finally, in the back is the bar. It is not as big as I pictured in my head. That's the half section. Seating at the bar looks like it would fit 12 Texas-sized patrons comfortably. On to the food and drink....
Drink: They have a pretty decent beer selection. They have 15 beers on tap, about 30 in bottles, and they are all very reasonably priced. But I'm not in the mood for beer. It's 10:00 pm on a Tuesday night and I just got off work. I need some liquor! I ordered a Car Bomb. It was perfectly and proportionately prepared so the Jameson didn't curdle the Baileys. That takes talent people, trust me. Then I ordered a Jameson and water. Again, the ratio of liquor to mixer was perfect. That makes me smile :)
Food: Now I'm ready to eat. I see Scousers Delight on the menu (someone here must be a Liverpool fan). That's fish & chips for the rest of us. My friend and I decide we gotta have it! It's late so we are splitting it. It came out quick and hot. To my delight, it contained five, yes FIVE, nice sized tempura battered cod fillets, fries, and coleslaw. The batter on the fish was super crispity crunchity. Surprisingly, there was zero grease factor people. I didn't even need a napkin. I don't know how they pulled that off; that never happens! The fries were fresh and nicely seasoned. Here's the kicker....I hate coleslaw. I ended up eating all of it! Sorry friend who only got a couple bites. I think I liked it because it was not too mayonnaisey. Yes, it's a word. I just said it. The rest of the menu looks like straight up American fare....meatloaf, pork chops, chicken fried chicken, wraps, salads, burgers. It is not your typical English/Irish pub menu. Most everything is between $7 - $13. Enough food. I need another drink!
All in all, I dig this place! It's different. I bet they get a killer crowd to watch the FC Dallas games. I'll be back for sure! -

This is a great place to stop in for a late night dinner. I'm so hooked on the fish and chips that I can never convince myself to order anything else even though there are other dishes I'd like to try. I think they have the best fish and chips of all the nearby pubs that we've tried. My husband really likes their burgers. He tried the grilled chicken burger last night and enjoyed it. Really good place. It's on our list of places we visit regularly.

Fish and chips are excellent. Good beer on tap and I've been promised that they will have cider back soon. Wait staff is excellent and competent. NIce place to gather with friends. The onion rings are a must!

This is a great place for real people (versus Dallas's famous "Plastic" crowd). This is a European style football pub...though I've watched many other sports on their HDTVs too. It's spacious, confortable, well lit, clean and there is ample parking. The food that I've tried has been excellent by Pub standards. But here is the real hook with this place: The staff is friendly and the managers are hands-on and friendly. The guy sitting next to you at the bar may be the manager, but he may not tell you that. I've discovered that the bar staff want to know you. Expect them to ask your name. Once they know you, you'll likely get a warm greeting whenever you enter and a friendly send-off when you leave. I've seen the bartender go into the kitchen and make something for a customer that wasn't on the menu. It turned out so good that it's on the menu now! This place is like Cheers - it's a place for friendly people to gather at the bar and be glad you're there. I've found The Allen Wickers to be a "people place". Casual, comfortable, relaxing...where people stop to enjoy a pint, a good story, and catch a game (and no...it doesn't always have to be soccer).
