Recently we have been there 5 or 6 times for coffee and a snack or a small lunch. The food is great and the staff are helpful and friendly. Ambiance is pretty funky--which is vintage Mendocino. For me this is a very comfortable place--it can be a little crowded at times because it is so small.

Still, I'll be returning again and again.

Great coffee drinks, and pretty good beans, too.  Turns out their beans are available in wider varieties and sometimes at lower prices at other local stores, but this coffee shop is great for a cup of coffee or tea.  Better yet, however, is their great selection of pastries and fresh breakfast and lunch noshes.  The only thing I did not like is that it had that typical feeling of "trying to lure you in because they know you're tourists" type deals ("All our burritos are made fresh!  Can I make you one?") but overall I enjoyed my coffee here, and the beans I took home.  Downtown Mendo is so small, I don't think you're going to find anywhere better than this, though, and you definitely will not find better coffee shop food, as their selection was amazing.

We were visiting the town on Saturday 5/20, walked in the cafe sometime past 4:30.  It was busy with a lot of customers.  The male cashier did not smile to greet customers.  He had a stone face while taking our orders, and he did not hand the credit card receipt to my husband.  He threw it on the counter.  Very rude.  The barista was also looking miserable and did not smile at customers either.  She was not friendly to my husband either when he inquired about his drink.  We only sat down for less than 10 minutes when the barista and cashier started getting ready to close shop.  They were putting up chairs, sweeping floors, and making us uncomfortable in staying there.  It was definitely not a welcoming place so we grabbed our coffee and left in a hurry.  Coffee wasn't that great either.  Not sure why everyone on yelp gives such raving review.  The staff seemed so miserable and just wanted to get out of there.

It's actually hard to find a decent breakfast in Mendocino unless you're staying in one of those frilly-cottagey B&B's. Since Jamie W. and I just checked out of our budget-rate motel in Ft. Bragg, we were feeling peckish before our southward journey back to San Francisco. We strolled on Lansing with nothing in mind and came unexpectedly upon this homey, compact space with the blonde wood and trellised patio.

It's a fairly packed place in the middle of the morning when out-of-town weekenders like us are just getting up and in search of nourishment - a lot of young families in sweats and fatigues, a lot of older people in Land's End sweaters (see photo). It turns out that Thanksgiving Coffee serves all sorts of savory breakfast goodies that they simply nuke and serve. I went for the $5.50 Sausage, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Pouch, which was a huge, sturdy popover stuffed with protein goodness and served with a salsa, sour cream, and a fresh shredded cabbage salad (see photo).

The sum was just the right amount of fuel to get us down Hwy 128. They also serve quality coffee here, no surprise considering the strong value placed on fair trade, organic, and sustainability in their beans. I have to agree with another Yelper that service at the counter was a bit pushy, and I noticed some small-mouth from the owner on the staff's behavior. It's definitely worth a stop and not just for Thanksgiving.

FOOD - 4 stars...one tasty pouch on a brisk Sunday morning
    AMBIANCE - 3 stars...so Mendo
SERVICE - 3 stars...the server may have been pushy, but the owner is in control
TOTAL - 4 stars...cute name but where are the pilgrims?

BEST Chai I've ever had.  And where should I start with the pastries and baked goods?  I couldn't believe my eyes as the delicious goodies in there...different kinds of bialy, muffins, breads, you name it.  Truly divine.  Cute interior and a great lunch menu as well!  5 stars.

What can i say, really good coffee here. We always get mochas and these were really good, they even make the leaf on top :)

Our favorite is in Kauai, but this place is up there....almost the same as our favorite in Kauai.

We went back the next day again it was so good. Mendocino is lucky to have this great coffee place.

My husband was so anxious to try a latte from here and it didn't disappoint.  My chai latte on the other hand was not the best.

They have delicious bagels and cream cheese and it looked like the rest of the food they offered would be tasty as well.  Definitely worth stopping by.

I knew of the name, Thanksgiving Coffee Company so when we saw the sign I said "this is it!" knowing we'd be in for a good coffee break on our journey.
What I didn't know was that we'd have such a fun time talking to the owner Paul, who I could easily spend an entire afternoon conversing with. We sampled some coffees together and I felt like I was with family, I just had to give him a hug :)

When I had walked up to the counter in the shop, there was a coffee plant growing out of a pot, I was like "wow! an actual Coffee plant?"... and that's where our almost hour long conversation started.

He spoke of his early visits to Central America, mentally taking us along on his journey as he recounted the details to us.
He explained about how individual coffee choice is, and spoke of the affect roasting has on the various types of beans.
He described the taste of coffee in layers as only a coffee aficionado could.

This is a man who has worked hard and remained focused, he's enjoying life and willing to share his experience and knowledge about coffee with anyone who is interested in learning.

The shop sells a variety of their roasted beans, specialty coffees and snacks. I'd recommend a stop in and if you're lucky, maybe you'll meet Paul.

My girlfriend and I went to Mendocino because we have never been before. An old neighbor of mine had stock in this company so I had to check it out.

We went in and found the roaster sitting behind the counter and approached him and asked him a few questions about the roasting process, fair trade, organic, etc. The man was a living encyclopedia. We grabbed a pound of coffee and a cup of coffee. I am going to try and buy this coffee for now on.

Free trade, Organic, Family mentality, cannot get much better than that

Remember its not just a cup but a just cup.

We purchased some ThanksGiving Coffee at Harvest Market in Fort Bragg. We also had it at a couple of restaurants in the area. It was so good we went looking for the factory since we knew it was nearby.

We found it, they weren't really giving "factory tours" but one of the employees was kind enough to give us a private tour. He was very passionate about the company and seemed to enjoy his job. The tour was fun, informative, and everyone was SO nice!

We found out that they specially blend coffees for the local restaurants. You can even buy some of the local restaurant blends on their website, like the "Albion River Inn Blend". They also have many fair trade and organic coffees.

It was a little hard to find but here is the address of the factory:

    19100 South Harbor Drive
    Fort Bragg, CA 95437

    PLEASE NOTE!
When we were there you couldn't buy coffee at the factory, we were sent to Harvest Market to purchase coffee.

I buy their coffee down at G&G in Santa Rosa.

The Very Strong is by far my favorite, and once again I am THRILLED to be helping local business.  The last time into G&G I met their rep as I was getting my coffee - he was amazingly informative and walked me through all the coffees they had in the store, and invited me up for a tour should I be in the area.

Such an incredible company with employees that have amazing passion for their jobs!  Great job, and great JOE!

I've only ordered coffee from this place online.
    That said, it's great

As I write this, they are out of their coffee from Laos which sucks.

But hey, they don't mass produce the stuff, hence why it's so good, so I'll live.

    Other highlights:

Aztec French--smooooooooooooooooooooooth, what a coffee, black current hangs around after each awesome sip

Ethiopian Sidamo---dry, subtle, a little fruit at the end, lemon?

    Great coffee. Always ship quick.

And they know how to roast coffee, that is bring out the flavor, not BURN it.

The place that does burn it (Starbucks), does so like my boozing uncle who to hide the fact that the toast is stale he singes it.
    I'm not naming names (Starbucks).
But you have to look out for (Starbucks) certain coffee places that hide their inferior beans (Starbucks) by cooking the coffee.

I love this coffee. I love this coffee. I love this coffee. Ok, I'm biased, it's the first coffee that I tried as a kid and it had about 2/3 cream, but really, I blame this company for my coffee addiction.

I have never once had a bad cup from their beans even with crappy coffee makers. I was thrilled to see that they made a special Obama blend. It was really cool packaging. But really, would you see an Obama blend at Starbucks? Do yourself a favor and get some of this goodness in a bag. http://www.thanksgivin...

Awesome coffee and peanut butter cookie. Atmosphere was cute with gorgeous mexican art on the walls. There is a tiny counter where you can sit and watch the people outside plus other tables. Coffee was fresh and amazing. My hubby and I are coffee addicts and this was 5 stars. They have a patio where we sat with our dog.

am not a connoisseur of coffee beverage(s) but am told theirs was good.....though for my discriminating taste their baked good's i tried were nothing but ordinary.

ambiance... ok (nice artworks on the wall, but floor was filthy)
    service... ok (a bit pushy)
    cost... expensive

The coffee is good, the variety is nice, a little expensive. The bulk coffee comes in bags not air tight, which can make the coffee more bitter over time and poorer quality.

BEST Mocha I've EVER HAD! It was so addicting and delicious. You definitely taste the cocoa AND the coffee. It was a perfect creamy blend at the right temperature. Fresh real whipped cream on top just made it perfect.  It was SOOO GOOD,  we had to buy an extra one for the road.

Absolutely delicious coffee!  Tried their espresso at  Chow in Danville and decided to order a bag of their dark roast Italian espresso - wow, couldn't be happier.  It produces a very well balanced shot, with plenty of crema and a mild yet complex flavor.  Makes for a great Americano in the morning.  Plus, we received our coffee shortly after ordering it so it was still fresh and lasted longer.

Thanksgiving makes great coffee, both their regular brands (especially French Roast Vanilla), and the Songbird ones, which I recently found I can get locally in Washington. When I lived in Napa & Humboldt 20 years ago, Thanksgiving and Santa Cruz Coffees made me start realizing how really overrated Starbucks was. (Remember, TWENTY years ago).
However, once I was driving up Hwy 1, & when I saw TCC's plant, I pulled in to see if I could buy a mug or apron. I'd parked in an unmarked parking place, but some azzhole pulled up & YELLED at me that I had no right to park there, it was only for employees. I ignored him, walked to the office, and was told they had no mugs or anything. The jerk walked in, & I asked the reception person about parking, who said, "Oh yeah, it's OK, just park between the lines". I told her "Well, great coffee, but you might want to tell this jerk about his people skills"

Believe it or not I fell in love with this coffee when i put the packet into a freakin hotel coffee maker!  I usually hate hotel coffee with a vengeance but Thanksgiving has something special about it. When I opened up the package, the smell was actually fresh and strong. I brewed a cup for my new hubby and I. Note, he doesn't like coffee, so I put some cocoa in there and made him a mocha. He enjoyed it very much. We went on the hunt for this coffee and wanted to visit them since it was clearly stated it was in Fort Brag. We went to our inn keeper and she tried to help us find out more info but wasn't able to get a hold of them. I was sad but we moved on with our day and decided to go to downtown Mendocino. We went to the Mendocino Bakery and Cafe and noticed that they sold Thanksgiving coffee. It was a God send! We got to talking with the guy behind the counter and told us the co-founder owns the bakery and that she was in the backroom. He asked us if we wanted to meet her and we eagerly said yes! She was excited to learn that we were interested in the coffee and the roastery and told us that we could take a personal tour if we'd like. Well of course, we took advantage of the opportunity and learned about how coffee was selected and roasted. The great thing about this company is that they are all about making sure that the beans they receive are fair-trade coffee. That means the people that pick the beans are treated and paid at the fair rate - basically people that are not treated like "sweatshop field workers". They even have some coffees that helps non-profit companies with a portion of their sales. This is a specialty coffee and they sell outside of the Mendocino area. Try it out if you ever get the chance. I like it more than the foo foo Starbucks and maybe even more than (dare I say it) *gasp* Peets. They are definitely worth supporting and drinking.. yum....

Thanksgiving coffee in Mendocino rocks! The latte's are among the best I have had. Think Peet's on a good day. And the baked goods are out of this world. I sampled a freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookie and it was scrumptious. Can't go wrong, and you do right by purchasing fair trade beans!
