I'm going to try not to be biased about this restaurant, it is after my family who owns it.
However, I've been visiting and eating here for many years and I have to recommend it to everyone in the area. The portions are above par with anything that you order.
The spring rolls are lovely! Full sized rolls, wide, not overly fried and exactly how all Vietnamese establishments should make their spring rolls.
The Pho broth --- like so many times I have mentioned in my other Pho restaurant reviews. It all boils down to the broth and the broth here is GREAT, the only place I eat at that makes me feel like I'm eating Pho home-made straight from my Mama's kitchen.
Please try this place out for yourself and let me know what you think about it. Plenty of parking, easily accessible with an elevator as well as the stairwell. -

It's too bad this restaurant closes at 10pm everyday, unlike a majority of other Pho places that close much later. Despite that, I can't find any other major flaws. The decor, set-up and cutlery is quite obvious what the previous business used to be - Japanese, but it works.
I really enjoy their spring rolls. Very crispy and not over fried, with a generous packing of minced meat inside. Dipping it in the flavourful fish sauce is mouth-watering, and worth the stench of the sauce - trust me! The Pho noodles are good, decent portion with good amount of ingredients but sometimes the broth can be a little salty. I mostly come and order the rice dices. Particularly the lemongrass chicken with egg and broken steamed rice. Everything on that plate is pure yumminess, I won't write about it - just go there and eat it!
Overall, a nice place that is never over packed with people and efficient service. Cash Only! -

I used to go to Thai Son when it used to be where the current Richmond Centre Canada Line station is now.
Your typical Pho place, noodle soup, spring rolls, and rice dishes. Parking is generally not an issue - but weekends may be frustrating. We are lucky, Richmond parking is mostly free.
lemon grass chicken on rice with egg is always good - boneless chicken :)
iced vietnamese coffee - classic! -

I haven't been to Thai Son in a while and I never knew about their Richmond location, so I thought I'd give it a try.
The portions were more generous than other Pho restaurants and the broth was very good. I ordered a small #13 (rare beef, well done tendon, beef balls in noodle soup) and it hit the spot. If I ever feel like pho again, I'd definitely come back here. The only downside is the service, like any typical pho place, there isn't much service. They take your order and bring you the food, don't expect jokes or smiles.Listed in: Pho-nomenal!

I used to go to the previous location across Richmond Centre, so I've been following them for a little while now. It's me and the wife's usual lunch option now during Sundays. However, be sure to get here before 12:30 on that day of the week as it'll get packed pronto.
My go-to dish here is the beef with tripe pho noodle soup or the Lemongrass chicken & Pork with egg on broken rice. Beverage of choice is their iced coffee with condensed milk.
Ambience (2.5/5) : Basic Pho shop atmosphere, sans neon. Relatively clean.
Food (4/5) : Great broth, not too oily or salty. Noodles are always cooked well and slightly chewy. Good portions and the prices are affordable.
Service (2.5/5) : It's okay, but nothing to write home about. Food is always served hot and quickly though!Listed in: Noodles Pour Toi.

Thai Son is a nice place to sit down for a quick and delicious pho noodle. There is plenty of seating with the tables not tightly packed, which makes this place a good business lunch meeting place. There is always available parking which is a nice bonus.
The pho noodles are generously sized at a reasonable price. The small size is generally sufficient. The large size is good for those who want the "full" experience. The lemongrass chicken dishes are well made, as the chicken is not grilled to the point of tasting dry or burnt.
This is one of my favorite places for lunch in Richmond. -

After a late night hanging out with friends in Richmond, the next morning before we headed up to Whistler all we wanted to eat was pho.
So we thought we could rely on Yelp reviews to help us find the closes Pho restaurant to satisfy our cravings. Big mistake. I should have listened to my native Vancouver friends and gone to Pho Hoang.
The service was good but our food was terrible. The broth was lukewarm so the meat (tai) was raw and never had the chance to fully cook through. The rice noodles were way undercooked for my liking.
Because I've eaten at the best pho places in Seattle, I might be a bit over critical. The price and environment of the restaurant was affordable and pleasant but I wouldn't go here for the PHO. Maybe next time I'll try their Bun BO Hue instead and ask them to make it boiling hot. -

Tucked away on the corner of Leslie/Garden City across from Fabricana, this Vietnamese restaurant serves mainly Pho and rice dishes one would expect from a Vietnamese restaurant.
Food comes out quickly and service is decent. This place is cash only, but typical for any Asian restaurants that are fairly cheap.
Tasty Pho and vermicelli dishes! My choice for Pho in Richmond! -
Review from Larry L.
It's right back up where it used to be. Not quite the same as it was at the old location but the dish I had that day brought back the memories. I was also able to order something that didn't have rice noodles and no sugary sauces. So extra star for that. The meat pie was good too!

This is probably one of the cleaner Pho places out there. Thai Son closed down their Richmond location a couple of years ago when they were in a small strip mall located across from Richmond Center when the mall was torn down to make room for the Canada Line. This was our usual Pho place to visit, so we were quite disappointed when we heard the news.
Luckily, a while later, they opened up again, this time, taking over what used to be a Japanese restaurant, hence the nice chairs and the semi fancy decor that you wouldn't normally expect at a Pho restaurant.
I'm not a huge fan of the Pho noodles, so I usually get the lemongrass chicken on broken rice (which is exactly what it is-rice that has been broken-so less chewing required!) The chicken is always cooked perfectly-tender, juicy, and flavourful, with the flavour of lemongrass. Another favourite of mine is the skewered BBQ pork with vermecelli. 2 skewers of marinated pork, cooked to perfection, served on a bed of lettuce and vermecelli, and comes with the fish sauce, which adds some sweetness to the dish.
The pho noodles are also good here too-their soup is never too salty, and the noodles come in a decent size. They are always willing to make substituttions too.
Ok service here. Tea is provided to you in tea pot, and the servers here speak relatively good English. Parking here is ample, and just head upstairs to the 2nd level where the restaurant is located.
Craving for more lemongrass chicken now..... -

This is a great Vietnamese restaurant. I have been eating from here for the last 7 years since I moved to Richmond. The portions are very generous and the staff is very friendly. All vegetables are fresh and broth seems to be fresh as well, is very aromatic and does not seem watered down like other places do. The beef is a nice colour and the but is great as well.
Menu covers your everything that your typical Vietnamese restaurant with some specials as well. The beef roll up special is something that everyone should try. It can be messy though, as you use your hands, but this makes it fun for kids and "big kids" too.
The location has moved from No.3 road to it's current location now, which was a good move as the ambiance of the restaurant has been improved. -

Wow! Thank you again Yelp. I think I just discovered my new favorite Pho joint. Delicious heavier but not overwhelming broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and tasty rare beef all served in one of the cleanest and more modern Pho places I've been to (should be noted, it used to be a sushi restaurant so they inherited the nice chairs and stylish decor). Highly recommend! Don't let the upstairs, corner strip mall location deture you.

1 word: pho with spicy soup. Ok not 1 word but you get the point. this place has the BEST spicy soup pho ever anywhere in the universe. It is incredible. Has heat but not burn your mouth hot to the point of no taste. Oh no, this soup is full of flava flav while balancing with the perfect kick. Before when they were across from richmond center, i would go there everytime i was in richmond for pho. After they closed down, my world came to an end not knowing they simply moved. You can imagine my joy when going for pho with a few friends after a golf game, we came to the newly reopened Thai Son. I was crying tears of joy as i slurped down my oh so missed number 13 with spicy soup. Dirty cheap too! Go there, get it, do it.
