Review from Kiki I.
Toronto, ON
I have been to this location twice now and I have mixed reviews, due to the fact that the first time I ate here I had no issues as both the food and service were great, nicely spiced food served as it was ordered, a pleasant surprise for a restaurant in a tiny plaza in Scarborough.
However, my last visit (myself and 4 others) was the opposite, starting with the drinks, a friend tried to order a mixed drink from the drink menu that was given to us but was told that there was no bartender working so she could only order shots but no mixed drinks!!! really on a Friday you have no bartender, don't give out a drink menu if you can't order off of it.
As for the service the waitress we had that night was very inattentive (the restaurant was not busy) once the food was delivered no one came to see if we needed anything and we actually had to go up to the bar to ask for more water three quarters through the meal. This was a surprise considering the good time I had there the last visit.
I ordered the vegetarian samosas which were a bland potato mush inside the fried pastry. The stir-fried glass noodles like in my first visit were tasty with a light spice, but slightly over cooked this time 'round and served in tiny broken bits. My friends had the spring rolls, green curry both with meat and w/o and enjoyed the fresh flavours even though one was served with tofu when asked to leave it out. The portions are pretty large and are good for sharing or for packing up to take home.
If you dare to go extra spicy on some of your dishes try the Coconut Thai style shake or Mango Lassi I've had both and can't choose which I like better.... OK the coconut shake wins. -

If I could give this place a half star I would - that is all they're worth and is basically all because of the service.
I came in and was greeted with all the smiles and please take a seat. Very prompt at getting drinks and orders and then NOTHING.
Once my food came I guess the waitress thought service was no longer needed.
She didn't once come to check if food was ok (which really wasn't mind blowing - I've had better), didn't come to refill our water... and then we literally waited 1/2 hour after we finished for her to realize oh yeah maybe I should bring them the bill?
She was too busy flirted with the so called cooks in the backroom and more into her phone ringing. This is by far the worst service I've experienced in a restaurant and I will not be returning.
To top it all off - the bill came to $35 for basically 2 pad thais, spring rolls and no charge for water. That is a bit much for crappy food.
I left her $1 tip (which she shouldn't be getting at all) and hopefully she got the message.
Steer clear folks - go to Spring Rolls for Thai food... way more enjoyable. -

This was our first time (6 of us) going to this restaurant on 1911 Ellesmere location (May 21, 2012). I am a downtown restaurant girl (Thai Basil etc.) but decided to give East a try and what a BIG disappointment it was. To sum it up, food was disgusting. Pad Thai was terribly sweet, fried rice was very eggy as in all you could taste was that raw egg which was cooked with rice, spicy noodles were spicy because it had COSTCO size serving of black pepper. I mean who puts black pepper in Thai food? Glass noodles were overcooked. Basically all the food was overcooked and the Assorted platter was again over cooked consisting of fried tofu, skewered shrimp which tasted mushy. You could tell right away with one bite that it was a frozen shrimp which was slapped on the grill.
Now let's get to the service. Our server served us water and stood there so I said to her we need few more minutes yet she did not move and I had to tell her twice that we needed more time. After we ordered our food, she came back and said to us that "we ordered too much food"? WTH? I said it's okay, we can finish it and if not, we will take it home. She brought our first dish which was in correct and I advised her that we ordered Shrimp pad thai and not veggie. She said to me "that's why I repeated the order to you and you said yes" She than looked at her order which she wrote down (which was on pieces of old cash receipts) and said "oh sorry" and took the food and served that dish to the table beside us. NEEDLESS to say we will NEVER go back there and neither should you. I would rather eat at Thai Express than here. Stick with Salad King, Thai Basil, Golden Thai etc in downtown. If you know what GOOD thai food taste like, do not go here. I would give this establishment a zero star if I could. -

Ate here twice. Once in restaurant and once ordered online.
The food is terribly meh. DO NOT get the "Oodles of Noodles", its terribly oily and lacks zip. The spring rolls I ordered were also not fried to golden brown, there were a sickly beige undercooked colour.
Overall, waaay too expensive for what you get. -

Having a birthday dinner last night & ordered from the Scarborough location (NEVER AGAIN). Once I got home with the order I found that I received 4 chicken pad thai instead of the 3 I ordered & 1 veg fried rice was missing. The bill was correct. So I phone & explained & the girl that answered & who was person I paid for the order at pickup, said NO MAM YOU ARE WRONG, WE PACK THE ORDERS OURSELVES. I got my back up right away & told her I am looking at the food & the receipt & they do not match, she again told me I was wrong. I lost my cool at her & told her I am bringing the food back to throw it at her so she can see who is wrong. 20 min later my husband & I arrived back, emptied the $105.00 bags of food on the counter, she was still trying to tell me I was wrong. Then she went in the kitchen & started yelling at someone. I finally had to go to the kitchen door & yell at her which I told her to get her butt back out here & to stop yelling at him, she came out with a cook behind her who claimed to be an acting manager. I said I have no problem with his human error, but her customer service is something to be desired & she should never tell a customer that they are wrong, she should have listened to me, then apologized & asked what she could do to make it right. This girl should not be working with customers. These 2 idiots probably own the location, so it will never change. Told them I want my money back, which they gave me, went & spent my money somewhere else, this location will NEVER get my business again. I have alot of friends & family that have ordered from her, some at my dinner party last night, they all said they have had issues with this location. The acting manager, just stared at us the whole time, I told her that I have been in the customer service industry for 34 years & never would I tell a customer that they are wrong, I would have apologized & try to help them or I wouldn't have a job anymore or deserve to be in the customer service business. All she had to say is I would not give her a chance to speak & apologize, I waited & she just looked at me. I turned around & walked out....NEVER AGAIN.

I've ordered from them twice as well as dined in once. They ALWAYS made a mistake with my order OR in case of the beef in curry sauce served 5 tiny sliced pieced of beef in basically curry water and had the balls to charge nearly $10 for it. I called them to complain and was offered a redo on the dish, but who wants to pick up a redo when you've probably pissed the cook in the back off? Ummm, call me paranoid I think I'll pass. My family was very disappointed, I felt ripped off. Second time I repeated my order 4 times to the man taking my order on the phone, as his english was poor I made sure he got it right. Picked the food up, and surely at home it was the wrong order, and a quick glimpse on my bill irritated me as it turned out I paid more for this item as well. I got in the car this time and took the meal back, for exchange. I was disappointed to find that I was not offered ANYTHING extra for my hassle, especially since this is the second time they've managed to get an F.
I will NOT be dining, nor ordering from here again. They had their chance, they irritated me, they made me drive around exchanging wrong orders, they didn't offer any superior service to CORRECT their numerous mistakes, and they managed to rip me off in case of the mysteriously 'missing' beef in curry sauce. This establishment is NOT cheap by any means for the quantity of food your receive. I will be going somewhere else next time. -

Markham, ON
I had a bad experience at Thai One On Kennedy and 14th location in Markham a few years ago. It took me years before I willing to give this franchise a try again.
The deco is quite nice. Remind me of Moxie's and Milestone though the lighting is not as dim. And the booth seatings are really comfy. +0.5 stars
The server is really nice and cheerful. Checked on me a few times if everything is ok and how I enjoy my food +0.5 stars.
They do have a cheaper and more limited lunch menu. The Thai Chicken Noodle ($8.99) which I requested extra spicy is quite good. I have not prepare for its level of spiciness (cough cough cough!) The chicken is nice and tender with tons of bell peppers and onion. The spiciness is from both fresh chili pepper and hot pepper paste. The generous use of basil leaves gives the dish a little more complexity in taste.
My order took almost 15 minutes to arrive and I am the only one in the restaurant. But at least I know it is freshly stired fried as I can hear the kitchen chopping, wok banding away.
They accepts Visa, Mastercard and Amex.Listed in: Lunch Specials in Scarborough

I really like Thai food. I eat is much as I possibly can. So, when I was getting my hair cut at my barber who is adjacent to this restaurant I couldn't help but make a mental note to come by and check out this establishment. It is located in a strip mall in Scarborough, Ontario. Yea, that's right, I ate in a strip mall in Scarborough, aren't I brave? The location is most surrounded by a what appears to be a blue collar South Asian Population. In terms of affluence, it is pretty standard fair for Scarborough. Though, judging by the condos I can see slightly off in the distance, and the plans to build a Subway line out to Scarborough town center by possible future mayor Rob Ford, the beginnings of Gentrification are indeed reaching even Scarborough of all places. However, I digress.
The service for this restaurant is fairly good Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a server who sat us at a table. The decoration was pretty interesting, they had high backed benches which gave the feeling that I was sitting at a booth. Personally, I very much prefer the feeling of sitting at a booth while eating over eating at a table. While eating at a table, I always feel exposed, and like I can't really have a conversation. So I definitely give major points for the setup of the restaurant. The decorations were modern, with accents which were appropriate to the type of food that is being served.
While there I ordered three dishes. Thai Spring rolls, Lemngrass soup (which they said was like Tom Yum Soup) and Vegetarian Pad Thai.
Spring Rolls - The spring rolls were good. I like the way that they slice the spring rolls in half and serve it with a sweet and sour sauce with crushed peanuts. It doesn't really add anything to the dish, however, it gives the impression that they care enough about the meal to try to plate it nicely for you. The spring rolls themselves were good. They did not taste too spicy, or too bland, they went well with th sauce, and were very nice on the palate.
Lemon Grass Soup - This soup was good. For the way that they made it, it was fairly decent. Personally, if I were them I would have preferred just a little bit more citrus in the soup, with a little bit of cilantro in it to give it a little extra zip. The spring rolls came with a garnish of cilantro with a shredded and put into the soup and used the lime from my water, and it really tasted kind of awesome. I felt kind of awkward making the suggestion to them however, so I didn't.
Veg Pad Thai - Ok, this was the low part of the experience. First of all, they didn't ask how hot I wanted it. I have mentioned this before, but this is always a bad sign when they don't give you an option in terms of how spicy you want your pad thai. Also, the Pad Thai definitely tasted of ketchup. There had a lot of vegetables in it, and the ketchup wasn't too obnoxious, however, I definitely tasted it pretty obviously. Usually places use ketchup instead of tamarind to either keep the cost down, or if they don't really know how to make pad thai. I'm not really sure what the case was here. But, I hate it when my pad thai tastes of ketchup. Then again, this is Scarborough, so I am not really sure how authentic I should be expecting the Pad Thai to be. Keeping that in mind, I will temper my expectations. They made a good faith effort to make a good dish, it was otherwise cooked very well, they had lots of vegetables, and peanut, and lemon slices.
All in all, it was a very good eating experience, the prices were very reasonable and the people there were very pleasant. If I was in the area and wanted thai I would definitely consider stopping in and getting some. -

Thai is one of my favorite foods and this is one of my favorite thai restaurants. Order anything with coconut in it and it is absolutely delicious.
