When I worked in DT Vancouver I would come here weekly for lunch with my coworker. The lunch deal is awesome! I would usually forgo the hot and sour soup that they serve just because it's not really my favourite thing, but my friend loved the stuff. You also get a spring roll and an entre. I usually had the basil and chili stir fry with chicken. Yum.
This is a great place for a quick and inexpensive sit-down lunch. The only thing is it gets BUSY at lunch time so make a reservation, come early, do what you gotta do! -

Vancouver, BC
Came here for a weekday lunch and was surprised to see the place packed. Who knew the had a lunch menu? Not me! While I'm pretty sure it's all stock food (meat + veggies + curry, a bowl of rice, spring rolls, soup that seems like a waterier version of the spring roll sauce), you can't be the quick service. We were in and out within the hour, perfect for the business peeps looking for something classier than Red Robin and different from Earls. The 2-pepper curry was a bit of a disappointment - it was milder than the hot and sour soup. Service was quick for the most part, though we had to chase down people to refill water. I can't really blame them though, with the number of customers they had.
They've got a bit more variety on their regular menu, and the pad thai favourite isn't a lunch special. But for $8, it's a good way to fill up regardless. -

Came here to check out their lunch specials, after hearing several reviews.
As this is Robson, there is only street parking available.
To get here, you have to go up a narrow staircase.
Not sure about the other locations, but this place has a $8 lunch special. There are some 20 entrees you can pick for this (beef, chicken, pork, vegetarian) so there's something for everyone. It also comes with some sweet soup (it was tasty but definitely not authentic) and a spring roll.
Service is reasonably quick, and they gave us our water refills regularly. But if there is 1 complaint about this place, it is the fact that the place is super-cramped. But that is not the fault of the establishment. The place filled up completely while we were there.
This is definitely one of the better deals in town. Be sure to check it out. -
Review from Evilyn T.
My workmates wanted to do lunch on Friday at the Thai House, apparently so did the rest of white-collared Vancouver. Luckily we made a rezzo, which didn't really seem like a rezzo when we walked in, since they didn't have a table quite ready, but they pulled one together pretty fast.
They have a lot of lunch specials for $8, none of which are vegetarian, and no where on the lunch special menu does it say anything about subbing tofu in or leaving out the meat. So once again I have to pay more than everyone else for something made with vegetables, this is a bone of contention with me, since veggies are so damn cheap. Even after looking through the regular menu it didn't look like there were many veggie options, until I hit the last page. I just went for the Pad Tofu, since I knew what to expect. However, I didn't expect it to be such a honking pain in the ass to actually order.
We were seated and brought water, and then had to play the waiting game to see how long it would take to have our order taken. Five minutes, ten minutes... twenty minutes later after we flagged down two of the waitresses and they said someone would be coming over, FINALLY someone came over to take our order. This kinda picked my ass since we were on a lunch break and only had a specific amount of time to be away from the office. Luckily the food came quickly after we put our orders in and I scarfed mine down and got the bill right away so we could hit the road. The food was average, but I'm not sure I'd go back here on my lunch break since I wasted half of it waiting for service, and it was crazy busy in there, since I guess all the carnivores need their cheap lunch fix, and I think I'd rather be somewhere a little more calm with a few more herbivore options.Listed in: Thai me up!

VERY DISAPPOINTED
Thai House Restaurant - Robson Street, Vancouver, BC 1/31/2011
According to History of Food, Approximately 4000 years ago, the Thai people migrated from southern China to Siam (modern-day Thailand); Thai food is largely influenced by Chinese cuisine. Most of the Thai food is spicier than the Chinese food, but they have very similar ingredients. I very seldom cater Thai restaurant. However, it's a good opportunity to try them out during this special event in Vancouver. (DINE-OUT VANCOUVER). Thai House in Robson seems to be the only one on the list:
HERE WHAT WE ORDERED:
APPETIZE:
1 LETTUCE WRAP
2. YUM NEUA (BEEF SALAD THAI STYLE)
ENTRÉE:
1. PAD THAI - TRADITIONAL STIR-FRIED RICE NOODLES WITH SHRIMPS, GROUNDED PEANUT, CHILI PASTE, EGG AND BEAN SPROUTS
2. GOONG PAD KATIEN- TIGER PRAWNS MARINATED WITH GARLIC AND WHITE PEPPER
DESSERT
DEEP FRIED BANANA WITH MANGO ICE CREAM
I was very disappointed in every respect. I should have read all the review from this site before I go.
FOOD - Below standard for Thai food restaurant.
SERVICE - Rude and none exist.
VALUE - $18. Per person. Due to the food and service, it's not worth.
In view of my experience, I will not recommend this restaurant to anybody. Its too bad the way they conduct their business, they should take this opportunity to promote and provide better food and better service than their regular time. It's better than a million dollar advertising to keep new customers coming back. Otherwise they may as well not joint the event and customers better off not waste their eating dollars here. . -
Review from Irena L.
I came here a few times, and it's nothing special. Food honestly comes in a nano second (talking about made to order:S), service is ok. Inside is a bit dark. Food is ok, nothing too good or bad. When it comes to Thai food, I prefer Salathai Restaurant which is just two blocks away.
I come here just because it is so close to my home! -

I hate writing bad reviews. BUT this place really pissed me off.
First of all, it's not Thai House's fault that NOWHERE in Vancouver, BC delivers before 5pm.
I sat one afternoon fukin' soooo hungover, looking on the web for ANYWHERE that delivered at 3pm. I mean, I was practically on my death bed... all I wanted was food. BUT I couldn't even get up to get water for myself. I couldn't even see straight.
Anyway - I finally found a place (Thai House) that delivered, which took me 20 long distance phone calls (Yeah, I don't have the international plan) and an hour and a half later... for Thai House to tell me that I had to wait until later to order. I was like, dude, seriously... just take my order now and deliver it later. So the dude on the phone hung up on me.
Then I called back, and was like "I think you hung up on me." That's when he put me on hold for 15 minutes. Yeah, that's how hungover and hungry I was... desperate means calls for desperate measures.
Finally after waiting for 15 minutes, I placed a delivery order, told him my address and then he put me on hold again. When he came back, I said never mind...!! I want to cancel my order!! And then I hung up on him.
45 minutes later, I am laying there about to die and shit my self... when I get a call at the buzzer. It's fukin' Thai House delivery. Ummm... thought I canceled my order? But whatevs, I am starving... (p.s. they made me order over $30 in food because that's the delivery minimum). I go to the door and I give the guy my money in exchange for his HORRID food. It smelled so strongly of fish, that I didn't even need to open it to smell the fowl scent that smelled like a grandma going through menopause.
I couldn't even eat it. And I eat everything. That's saying a lot.
I called back and they wouldn't give me my money back or cancel my order.
YEAH I was pissed off. I want my $30 back so I can buy more alcohol with it instead. Thanks for ruining my January 9, 2010. Dumb asses. I will never get that day back. -
Review from Oaklandish a.
I am surprised to read the hit or miss reviews here. The menu is varied, but tends on non-traditional. That is, you will find things on this menu that are not typical thai, but more of fusion. There is even a section devoted to Ostrich dishes! That being said, you won't have any trouble finding your standard beef red curry, pad thai, etc.
I order a beef dish with lime leaves and green beans (close to pad prik kring, but not exactly), and a black-bean sauce chicken dish with pineapple. Both were very very good, and huge portions (I had to leave mine behind as I was staying in a hotel).
The service was not good, not bad. Just kind of blah. No personality, no sense of character. The staff almost struck me as unhappy.
That being said, I enjoyed my meal! -

Yellow curry is the gauge I use to determine the quality of Thai food. My theory is based on 1) a *creamy* yellow curry sauce, 2) a *sweet* coconut flavor, 3) and a *subtle* kick of spice.
IMHO, this, was not. -

There's a few locations of Thai House, but this is the only one I've been to. And I've been here quite a lot!
My favorites are the chicken satya, pad thai, and green curry chicken. I'm crazy about all of them, and have trouble trying anything else. Many meals come with a fresh crisp spring roll.
Service is consistently good and quick. Prices are reasonable. It's a great place to go every time you get a Thai craving. -

I was pretty excited to go to Thai House having read pretty good reviews (not including the one below me). So having a super big craving for pad thai, I thought Thai House was going to be a hit.
On a rainy Sunday evening, the restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. We ordered the Traditional Pad Thai and the Duck Curry served in a "young coconut," and deep fried bananas with mango ice cream. I confirmed with a waiter to make sure it was going to be a coconut..and he said yes.
A minute later, he told me the duck was out so I would need to rethink my food choice but I told him to serve up the Pad Thai because we were starving.... Before I had even decided what to get, the Pad Thai was here.! I selected the Lamb Loins (served in a young coconut) and the waiter said that it might have been out of stock as well.... um.. what type of restaurant is this????. Luckily they had it and I could still enjoy it in the coconut.
When it came out however, I was so sad.. not seriously.. my heart dropped:
1. It was NOT served in a coconut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so angry to even say anything anymore. I was hungry and this was just unimaginable - i DOUBLE CHECKED!!!!
2. The curry was over watery
3. One lamb loin was undercooked, the other was completely burnt, making it unedible, not to mention full of fat.
During dinner, the waiter came by once close to the end of the meal to refill our waters. Then he asked if wanted any tea or coffee like we were ready for the bill. Clearly he forgot we ordered dessert so I had to remind him. The bananas were over deepfried in my opinion, luckily my bf didn't mind it. The ice cream was fine, with a little bit of freezer burn.
So much for celebrating :( -

I was STARVING !!! So myself , my bf, and 2 other friends were on our way to eat when someone suggested Thai House, I had never been there and it was steps away from where i live.
The place itself looked like it could use a bit of a make over and it was a bit chilly but it was the food i was interested in.
Ordered the drink special which was a sangria and it wasnt too impressive. Either was the Pina Colada but thats where the dispointment stopped.
We ordered the dinner for 4
this included
-Thai Spring rolls
-Chicken Satay with Peanut sauce
-Boneless Chicken in red curry sauce (served in a coconut)
-Pad Thai noodles that had a TON of shrimp
-Ginger Beef with vegetables
-Mixed Vegetableswith Prawns and oyster sauce
-Jasmin Rice
-Mango ice cream
It was the PERFECT amount of food for 4 people and the vegetables were cooked to perfection
It was only $76 and the service was very fast
I will be back indeed.

I ate here last night. The place was easy to find. I looked out my hotel window and gazed across the landscape and saw this restaurant. It was a quick walk around the corner and down the street. The hostess sat me down facing the outside window so I could do some people watching while I ate.
I order a yellow curry dish with chicken that was recommended by the waitress. It was great. A little spicy and delicious. The service was fast and the food got to my table quickly.
The place had a great decor. I'll eat here again next time I come to Vancouver. -

Grabbed a green curry chicken lunch special here for $8.40 total. AMAZING. I've ben to Thailand, and this stuff was goooood. A little sweet if ur sensitive to it, but so tasty.
A definite recommendation.

We were staying downtown for a few nights and walked around randomly looking for Thai food and found this place on Robson. It was awesome. We eat alot of Thai food -- and this place was definitely one of the best tasting Thai restaurants I've been to.
We had the Tom Yum Soup -- which is a must. It was superflavorful and just the right amount of hotness. We also shared a Thai Basil Tofu. Again, cooked perfectly. The tofu was soft but perfectly fried on the outside and the flavor was amazing.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in downtown Vancouver looking for a good meal. The decor is nothing fancy -- but for great tasting inexpensive food you cannot go wrong here. And it's healthy! -

Went to Thai House as it was one of the closest in proximity to our apartment. Do we need to use Google maps to find everything? Surely it doesn't excel in atmosphere or being "trendy or hip". Somewhat understood that this is not their angle. I'm fine with that aspect..as the food should be doin' the taking.
The food was reasonable, but surely I've had better. We ordered the chicken and yellow curry along with a spring roll. Everything showed up in what felt like a nanosecond. :) The spring roll was good and about as large as a small San Francisco burrito. Clearly this was a well portioned split. The chicken yellow curry was a bit of a let down. The sauce seemed watery and very spicy. My experience with yellow curries is that they should be just ever so spicy, but also resound with a coconut sweetness. I didn't get this subtlety in our meal.
I might go back based solely on their distance to our living space, but the hunt for great Thai in Vancouver will surely continue. -

I love Thai food. The flavours, the smells, the spices... I could eat Thai food every day and not get bored of it.
The Thai House restaurant chain serves up some really good food at all of their locations (and I've tried them all!) but the one on Robson is close to my office, so it's the one I frequent most often. The restaurant itself is not that nice inside with regard to the decor. It's outdated and very plain, but I'm not there for the ambiance - I'm there for the food!
The lunch special is awesome. For $7.50 you get a spring roll, a bowl of hot & sour soup, and your choice of lunch entree, which comes with steamed rice and salad. My favourite is the #21 - chicken with jalepanos, eggplant & basil. The portion is very generous and the flavours are amazing. Just the right amount of heat for me.
I've also ordered several other dishes here and some of my favourites are the shrimp-stuffed eggplant, the pineapple fried rice with prawns, the green curry chicken and also the house special seafood curry combination. I love that they don't overcook the veggies in their dishes and the seafood is always good.
I'll keep going back here as long as they keep up the good food! -

Ensure a quiet dinner experience - eat at 5 o'clock!
I went here for an early dinner the other day, and it was odd to walk in and my table for two was the only occupied table. But it was early. So, service was very attentive, even when only water and tea was ordered for drinks.
I liked the range of coconut curries I could pick from. I went for the green curry chicken with spinach rice. Note - they don't have the "English names" of dishes on the menu, so if you don't know Thai save the embarassment and order by number.
My food was so delicious. I love hot hot food, so I would say my "three chili" (menu hotness indicator) was maybe wrong, it wasn't that hot to me... again though I have a taste for the spice so those with less tolerance may have a hard time eating it. I was also a major fan of the spinach rice.
The restaurant did get busier, and even after the meal and payment were complete my friend and I sat a while chatting and didn't feel pressured to get up and go which is always nice.
As a Thai food lover I'm sure this place will see my face again! -

If they gave frequent flyer miles for eating from Thai House Restaurant, we could go to Thailand and back...but that isn't very convenient now is it? Needless to say, the folks at Thai House know all the information they need to deliver wonderfully tasty, savoury delights...in under an hour!
The only reason I haven't attended one of 5 Thai House restaurants in the city, is because their delivery service is prompt and without error EVERY SINGLE TIME! Can you believe it?! Seriously, I used to order from a place that added and subtracted items at will from our order, a cruel game to be sure.
The portions are huge and well priced and we will absolutely continue to devour fantastic pad thai and duck curry while watching TV, but a trip to the restaurant (ours came from Robson Street locale) is in order! -
Review from Alison S.
I'm still recovering in terms of time-zone differences from a week-long vacation with family halfway around the world, so when I realized at 3:30 pm that I was ravenously hungry, the Boy was saddled with the problem of his girlfriend's voracious and ill-timed appetite.
Our first choice, Guu, was not yet open [it would open a few hours later for dinner] and he wanted deep fried bananas, so to Thai House we went.
Their portions are very generous, you will not leave hungry for sure! We ordered a pad see-ew and the deep fried bananas with mango ice cream.
The pad see ew came with lots of juicy bits of chicken and broccoli. Unfortunately I found it to be a little on the salty side, and not as sweet as I've had at other Thai restaurants. There were TWO deep fried bananas, and they went lovely with the ice cream, although the option of coconut ice cream might be even better.
I tried their Royal Thai drink, which is minced lychee and coconut milk; it was quite refreshing but also had a lot of ice in it which meant that of the portion in the cup I didn't drink a lot of it since I don't like to chew ice (sensitive teeth).
I probably wouldn't rush back here, but if I am back then the fried bananas are on the menu for sure, maybe not the pad see-ew; i'll try a different noodle next time. -

Yummy! This place is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. (It's also in the Entertainment Guide for buy one entree get one free up to $15.)
The Tom Kha Gai soup was the spiciest I've ever had. That soup generally isn't nearly as spicy as it was here. I think they should take it down a notch, and I like spicy food. Nevertheless, it was very good.
We like the other entrees as well.
Service was excellent, and they serve lots of water to help out with the spicy food. (I know milk is supposed to be more soothing than water when eating spicy food, but the food also can make one thirsty, so the water is much needed.)
It's right in the heart of commercial Robson St. It's on the second floor, so you might not notice it on ground level.
Take a look up. It's worth the trip. -

I LOVE Thai food! I could eat that every day.
I like Thai House in Burnaby. Their service is OK not excellent but its alright. I also want to try their food at a North Van location later on.
But first....I tried their robson location which was horrible. The manager or the waiter I am not sure of but he was VERY COLD and RUDE. Your body language is a big part of understanding and getting the sense of people. His body language tells me that I should order quickly, eat and go home ASAP. His attitude was very arrogant. Ain't I your customer? Or your previous rival?
His attitude was like the cold boss who doesn't give a damn about his/ her employers. Anyhow, food was alright. The place is kinda dark and less lively compared to the one in Burnaby. Because the waiter was so unfriendly, I just tipped less than I would and he got pissed off.
If you don't wanna be there, just don't be. Pisses me off to get my ass to dine at your place. I would have eaten at other Thai places if dining out at your place is not a pleasant experience. That can change the flavour of food too. I think he doesnt care what other people think of himself.
He slapped and threw the receipt at me.
I won't go back. If you expect customers to tip you / or however big tip you want from me or other customers, be professional and do your job like you care!!! At least pretend that you do buddy. -

I've been here a few times over the years and always enjoyed the food. I wanted to write a review about my latest experience because we received excellent service. We had informed the staff that we were running late for a show and the server made sure that we were served promptly. We had fresh spring rolls as an appetizer, and shared two mains: a red prawn curry in a hollowed-out pineapple, and a black bean veggie curry. We were particularly impressed with the spicy, flavourful prawn curry (and it looked cool served in the pineapple) but everything was fantastic. Will definitely come back and/or try one of their other locations if the opportunity arises.

Review from R. R.
The Restaurant is located on busy Robson Street, which is crammed with tourists and locals out for a stroll, a meal, or to shop. After some heavy duty souvenir shopping we found Thai House. Its on the second floor and overlooks the busy Robson Street shops.
We had a great view from our table of the kaos below. It was a hot day, so I was pleased to find that the dinning room was nice and cool. I started off with a lemon soda (house specialty) which was very refreshing.
We ordered the spring rolls, cashew chicken, garlic beef and fried rice. Every dish was unique, not like most placed where every sauce seems to taste the same. All of the dishes had a little kick too, so if your shy about eating spicy make sure to ask for "no chili" and not "mild". My friend found out the hard way.
I will definitely return to Vancouver and to Thai House. -

I was looking for thai food while in Vancouver. This place was close to my hotel and in a popular shopping area. It's upstairs and looks a little shady from the street, but it's legit. The service was good, the food was good, a totally decent place if you need a quick phad thai fix.

Review from Jack K.
This was positively one of the worst Thai meals I have had. I should have turned on my heals and walked out when I greated the waiter in Thai and he looked at me like I was from Mars... turns out he was Hong Kong Chinese, not Thai. Not being Thai isn't really a problem, but not even knowing how to say hello in Thai and working at a Thai restaurant seems poor.
Now to the food:
All of the food was poor at best.
1. Larb Gai ... no flavor, not spicy, mushy, full of big slices of red onion. Not how it shold be cooked.
2. Chicken Wings... no flavor... just fired chicken wings served with a bottled Thai hot sauce.
3. Beef salad... tough and overcooked beef. Little dressing, no heat. Basically a big pile of cabbage with some tough, jerky like pieces of beef on top.
4. Pad Siew Noodles... a big plate of gloppy noodles. Looked like they used a thin noodle, instead of the tradiitonal wide rice noodle.
Ate a few other non-inspiring dishes as well.
Any then to top it off, the meal caused me to spend some quality time in the can after I got back to the hotel.
Avoid at all costs. I had heard that Vancouver had a good selection of Asian food, hopefully my next selection when I am in town again will be more representative.
Stay away! -

The truth is that I've only ever ordered delivery from Thai House, although I've found that the spice ratings on the menu for the curry dishes can be rather hit or miss have always enjoyed my experience overall. The last time I ordered was an entirely different kettle of fish - it took my order an hour and a half to get to me which was double the time I was told over the phone. When my order finally arrived I was starving so I dug in with gusto, to my horror while eating my pad thai I crunched down to discover a piece of glass in my mouth !!! I'm pretty easy going but this was just awful. I called the restaraunt immediately and the person did not bother to apologize and simply indicated that the new pad thai would be sent right away - half an hour later I had my glass free food :( Not that I felt like eating it anymore.

I've only ever been for lunch, but I've had lunch here about 10 times lately. Just an awesome spot for a quick, delicious, affordable lunch during the day. They have an awesome lunch menu with a good variety of dishes. My favorite....the 19, chicken, cashews and chilli...can't go wrong, give it a shot! Love the spring roll and hot n sour soup that come with.

Loved it!.
when at a new place I always order the staples: Green Curry chicken, Chicken Satay and Pad Thai.
Everything rocked. The kids loved the Satay, it was juicy, meaty and flavorful. Compared to our experience the next day at Sala Thai, which is was dry, not much chicken.
The Pad Thai at Thai House, had some zing to it, and some spice to it. It really stood out. Finally the green curry, we liked so much , we bought the their green curry mix to make the dish at home.
I highly recommend this place.
