Review from William B.
On a recent trip to Banff, we needed a relatively 'quick' place to eat at a reasonable price. We had eaten at the restaurant next door earlier in the week and had seen the place. So when we walked by again, our craving for Thai food kicked into high gear.
As the web site states, the restaurant is a small place, but with stylish decor and fabulous service. We were surprised to walk in and see no other customers, but it could have been that it was a Wednesday and slightly after the normal lunch hour.
We had fried chicken spring rolls for an appetizer - so crunchy on the outside, hot and tender on the inside - which were quite delicious. Our main courses consisted of Pad Thai (chicken for me, shrimp & chicken for my girlfriend). We both devoured our main dishes. While not the top of my Pad Thai list, it's definitely #2.
If you find yourself lucky enough to be in Banff, stop by Thai & Grill. They have more than just the traditional Thai dishes, but we really didn't sample as we craved precisely what we ate. -

Dishes too small for a big appetite, so just order lots of rice. But here's the brass tax: It's one of the better tasting restaurants in a town that bilks hungry people. Go with the Panang; Go with the Tom Kha Soup. Tasty. Last advice: Try to avoid the hours between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. You will have a hard time getting a table.

Banff in general is a really touristy area, and in my opinion, just a 2 hour stop, unless you come to the Canadian Rockies to shop. However, on a quiet little street is where this quaint Thai restaurant sits, and I thought to myself, who goes to Banff and gets Thai food, but not only are the owners and staff extremely friendly and hospitable, but they are also very attentive, which is a biggie in this area, which boasts a lot of seasonal workers, with absolutely no serving skills!!! My recommendation is the Chicken Pad Thai, you get your money's worth, with a huge helping and it is delicious, I had it twice and it did not disappoint either time!!!

The Tomyum soup was nice and spicy. It was very flavourful. The Thai chicken cashew, however, tasted like they just poured a bottle of Thai sauce on it. The price was expensive. The latter was $18. Will not return to Thai and Grill.

Very friendly staff. The edamame was average (not as good as Earl's). We had the pad thai--it was decent not great but good.

The food and service was great! Prices were reasonable for Banff. My husband and I had pad see yoo and garlic beef, both of which had plenty of vegetables and had good portion size. The noodles in the pad see yoo weren't fat like we're used to, but it was yummy nonetheless.

On our way to Calgary, we stopped at Banff for two days. We initially thought of going to the restaurant next door but after some hesitation decided to have Thai food. My parents and I ordered chicken satay as appetizers, two raibow trouts and a seafood Thai pad as entrees.
After realizing that the chicken satay was raw, we complained to the waiter, who immediately apologized and took the appetizer back. The entrees were only slightly better. The trout was dry and vegetables were as ordinary as it gets. The Thai pad was the best part of this forgettable meal.
It was nice to see that we had not been billed for the appetizer and an additional 20% discount was given to us. Nevertheless, our dinner was a disappointment.
