Review from Lisa J.
Went here yesterday for lunch. We weren't sure if we were going in or not, as we were deciding, the maitre d' made a "funny/snide" remark. I almost got "NY" on her, but remembered, that I am ordained clergy and I am sincerely trying to let my light shine in this world. So I smiled and went on in.
Our waiter (whose name I should remember) was absolutely wonderful. Very attentive, good natured and obviously not related to the maitre d'. We both ordered the Jack Daniels Chicken which was absolutely wonderful. I've been to TGIF's before and have never ordered Jack Daniels anything, but was SO glad I did. The entrees took absolutely forever to arrive, but the waiter kept checking on us and asking if we were ok and assuring us that the food would be up soon. The people across from us, however, were obviously in a hurry, and were NOT happy that their food was taking forever. I felt so bad that they were verbally abusing "my waiter" as if he were the cook. They musta had a tour leaving soon; we did not, so we just chilled, however, if we were on a schedule, I would have been a bit peeved as well. The chicken was very tender, the mashed potatoes were good (I poured the sauce over them like gravy and was extremely excited with every bite). I'm not too much of a veggie person (at least not those side veggies that come with chain food restaurants, but I ate all of these.
Aside from the maitre d' and the extremely long wait, I immensely enjoyed the food even more than theTGIF's back in NYC. Did not have any drinks other than a seltzer. Also, the manager, made rounds to ask how folks were doing. They're open 24 hours which was good to know since for some reason most of the restaurants close around 9:30pm (What in the world......???) You can access from Fallsview Avenue or the tourist area in the back where The Falls are located. Restaurant is on ground level of the Embassy Suites.
Keep in mind, when I grade, I'm doing so on the chain restaurant curve.... In other words, this place is not some fancy, ritzy place with the food, ambience, etc. to die for. It appears that some folk give low ratings as if they are expecting so much more. Good grief, it's a chain restaurant, and with that in mind, I gave it 4 stars (minus one for the long wait and the snide maitre d') -

Terrible food. Ribs were dry. Mash potato was tasteless. My daughter cheeseburger was a microwave lunch able type. My pasta dish was one giant lump. Couldn't even cut into it. We did complain. Got the rib dinner free. Terribly expensive. We expected better service.

Two Apps and Two Ceasers, $80 bucks, don't mind paying good money for good food but IMO it wasn't all that great. So many better places to go.
