Review from Pat M.
Cambridge, ON
I strongly disagree with the last reviewer. Yes the prices here are very high but this shouldn't be a surprize for anyone who chooses to dine here. The Marriott is certainly one of the more expensive hotels in the area, for good reason, amenities are far suprior to any other I've stayed at (and I've stayed at quite a few). The food is outstanding and the view is phenomenal. I consider this to be a "haute cuisine" restaurant as the selection, dishes and service are very much in keeping with that category. It's not the place for penny pinchers and certainly not the place one frequents on Friday night. But if you are looking for a place to celebrate a special ocasion, this the definatley a step in the right direction.
You don't have to get on a plane to find a place to spend a weekend away, the Marriott with it's amenities and Terrapin Grille with it's fine dinning will surely do that for you... -

Richmond Hill, ON
To be perfectly honest, not very impressed with the service or the food. Prices that they are charging are ridiculous. A simple dinner for two with a two glasses of cheap wife runs about $160 bucks. I had a better tasting food for this money. Not impressed at all. And they always add T.I.F. Tax. It's not government tax, it's just tourist tax that they slap on to every bill without telling you so. Disappointed.
I would not suggest the place to anyone, well except the view. -

The Terrapin Grille is the restaurant within the Marriott Fallsview. Located on the mezzanine level, the views at this restaurant are truly amazing.
The prices however are just the opposite.
We ate here because it was included in our hotel package.
The morning was a standard breakfast buffet which was actually quite good. For $21 pp you can also enjoy this overpriced buffet.
The buffet had the typical items: fresh fruit & cereal, eggs (omelet station) bacon, pork sausages, home fries, fresh muffins, toast, coffee, and juices.
It was a good meal, again not for $21.
The dinner, we had a $75 voucher to use.
We actually had to be quite conservative.
Menu entree ranges from high 20's for pasta to well into the $40 range (steaks).
The food was again just okay. Nothing memorable. Would I go back if I did not have a package deal? Probably not.
We dining early and got a incredible view of the falls.
Service was good, attentive and friendly. -
Review from Richard D.
The Terrapin Grille is a wonderful extension of the Marriott Fallsview in Niagara and it's menu, staff and decor are is magnificent as the view. I highly recommend the the haddock, their signature dish as its the right combination of sweet and spice. I was more than impressed with their service and friendliness as they treated me (Quadriplegic in a power chair) just as any able-bodied customer might be (a rarity). My family and I were set at a beautiful table with a picture window of the fall. We'll be back the next time we are in Niagara Falls.

My husband and I are huge foodies. In fact, my husband is a chef manager. So you can imagine we are very critical of food and service in the restaurant business. Yes, the prices are high as with all fine dining restaurants, but the food was excellent! We stayed at the Marriott Fallsview and took the package with included a $75 dinner voucher and buffet breakfast for two. Our meal which included a $40 bottle wine, an appetizer, soup and salad for myself and an entree for my husband totaled $85 with $20 tip after we used the $75 voucher. The escargot was nice, the French onion soup was amazing, the pear salad with maple dressing and walnuts was excellent and my husbands prime rib was cooked to perfection and was a great cut of meat. The lovely waitress Suzanne knew we were celebrating mu birthday and she brought me a complimentary beautifully decorated plate that included a chocolate heart shaped cheese cake, mini cup of fine creme brulee, a chocolate dipped strawberry with fresh whipped cream with two decorative white chocolate sticks. Breakfast was amazing! Fresh fruit and fresh whipped cream, croissants, hot breakfast, waffles, pancakes and omelet station! Breakfast is usually $20.00 per person and it was a great buffet! Usually we are not buffet type people.
I really don't get the bad reviews and have to completely disagree! We would and will definitely go back. Service here was excellent from the moment you walk in the door!
