An excellent hotel for visitors who want a central location near waterfront and a great gym. Also FREE WiFi.
We found The Terminal City Club through Kayak and got a fairly good rate, especially for Vancouver. We were very pleased with our stay.
Service: The service is very friendly. They typically stay out of your way, but are quick to give assistance if you need it.
Room: Ours was 'cozy' but had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, it was nice and quiet, plus we got a view of the water.
WiFi: Free. That alone is worth a bonus star.
Gym: The TC Club boasts one of the best hotel gyms I have been in. As a standalone fitness club, it has everything you need, plus squash courts and a large swimming pool. If you're one of those travellers who needs a gym in your hotel, this is the place.
Parking: Self parking is available around back and seems to be about half what you'd pay for valet parking at any of the other nearby hotels.
Bottom line: We'll be back to the TC. It's generally about $50 - $70 / night less than the large chain hotels and still gives you a great location and a comfortable stay. -

I'm still unsure as to the point of a private club, but hey, rich people have money to burn, so all the power to them.
I recently attended my brother's wedding here. Being Filipino, I'm used to a long Catholic ceremony in a church followed by a buffet-style reception at a golf course or hall. Being gay, my brother definitely picked a non-boring setting.
With an ocean view of North Vancouver, it sure beats a church (sorry Jesus). After a short and sweet ceremony, we waited a short 10 minutes while the staff transformed the room for the reception (well planned).
Being gay, my brother and his partner planned every detail ages ago. The Club's staff executed very well. Food was the best wedding food I've ever had. Kind of like comparing airplane food from coach to 1st class. We had a choice of our 4 course meal between salmon and squab (magic chicken to those who don't want to know what it is). All delicious and paired beautifully with different wines.
Staff was bubbly and efficient. The bartenders kept their cool and handled the open bar lines quickly. Maybe a tad too quickly as everyone got hammered pretty darn fast.
Cake (made in-house) was layered happiness.
If you got $$, come here. -

Always great for a sauna and steam and hot tub at the end of the day.

As a member I feel that This venue should be split into several places: TCC Lions Pub, 1892 Restaurant, Cuvée, The Grill, the Billiards room, the fitness club, the events facilities and then finally the hotelling operation.
The club itself is a first class establishment with lots of facilities for its members and guests. The recent remodel on late 2008 made it even more enjoyable.
They really excel with the food and beverage delivering both large portions as well as the finest cuisine at reasonable prices in Cuvée the Wine Bar, 1892 the Fine Dining Room and the Grill upstairs.
Finally, as a member, there is only a small corkage few on booze sold. A $300 bottle of Champagne is indeed a $300 bottle of Champagne.
Reason enough to join! -

I first visited this club in the summer of 2011 as a guest of a member, and fell in love with it. Great food and drink, and superbly majestic, without being stuffy. I brought my entire family with me on a business trip (including 3 children ranging in age from 4 months to 7 years old) and we decided to stay in the attached hotel. We had a room with a fantastic view, and the entire staff was warm and very accommodating. They really treat you like royalty here. Room service was great. The front desk was great. I especially love the no cell phone rule enforced in most of the public areas of the hotel. This is truly in the top 5 best places I have ever stayed, and I will be coming back.

I have mixed feelings about this place, but ultimately I cannot recommend. First, the positive - For the price point, the 1-bdrm suite I got was reasonably sized. The other places I've stayed in Vancouver mostly have smaller sized suites. It also had a little kitchenette that was helpful. The pool was nice and the kids enjoyed that aspect. Also, the location was good. It was an easy walk to Robson and the waterfront was very close.
But the problems were bigger and more prounounced:
- Parking was $25/day because you got "in and out privileges". For that amount per day, I expect valet parking and I expect that the car will be ready a few minutes after I call down for it. You have to park it yourself and the number of non-reserved spots were few and far between.
- When I booked the room there was no mention that you can't just pull up to the front. There IS no front to speak of (at least, in the hotel sense of the word). You have to go to the back to park. I had to call from my car to get that info.
- The front desk was not attentive. I had to let the phone ring many times to get someone to pick up.
- The kitchenette didn't have flatware and place settings. I expect those to be available if there's a kitchenette. Had to call down for those.
- Our "city view" from the 8th floor consisted of a wall and construction. Literally, a wall.
- For the kind of hotel they aspire to be, I expect a doorman to get the door. Nope.
Basically, this is a social club that rents out its club hotel to the public. That's fine if you make the public aware of everything they need to know AND you're providing public hotel services. I probably should've stayed at the Westin Grand or the Sutton Place. Both for a few extra dollars and both with at least valet parking. -

My friend got married at the Terminal City Club and it was amazing. The ceremony was on the balcony with a view of the North Shore Mountains and it was close enough to Stanley Park to whip over for photos between the ceremony and the celebration.
The banquet staff were fabulous and paid special attention to the head table, where I was sat in a shiny bridesmaid dress obviously in need of frequent refills on my cocktail!
The dinner that they put on was delicious and although it was served buffet style all the cold dishes were cold and the hot dishes were hot. There was ample selection and everything was delicious.
They let us stay and party until the last possible moment and didn't try to hurry us out. It was great to be able to go out onto the balcony to get some fresh air after dancing for a few songs, and there were comfie chairs set out under a tent -- no, classier than a tent, a canopy -- where people could chill and visit.
The wedding played out without any hiccups, and that's about all you can ask for in a room with all ages, loads of family and an open bar! -

This place is meh. I've gone here several times for law conferences and drinks, and it's really not as great as people say. It was the last "men's club" in the city to forbid women from joining, but they finally had to start letting them in during the 1970s, boooo!
They have a strict dress code (no sneakers, business attire a must) and they don't allow you to use your cellphone (they actually have a small telephone booth to make your calls, how archaic).
I will say though that their food is wonderful. I've been lucky enough to eat here several times and eaten their catered food as well, both are delicious. The place is beautiful and the staff is nice, but a big arrogant. If you want to relax, don't do it here. If you want to be seen and snobby, this place is perfect for you. -

Me and my friends celebrated the Olympic Closing Ceremony at the Ballroom of this Club. My friend's Dad is a member of this club so we had the chance to actually gate crash ha! (not literally... we had tickets ofcourse) See below for my observations:
1. They have a dress code here. No jeans, sneakers etc. Heck, I brought another set of pants etc. just for that closing ceremony party.
2. I'm not ageist but we were the youngest in the crowd!
3. Food was great... coffee and tea selection were awesome... food is ok to good (nice deep fried tiger prawns) and their tiramisu dessert is just indulging.
4. Everything here is so British - we played snooker! ha! It takes you about half a minute to walk around. I prefer the regular billiards.
5. Darn... gym and Olympic size swimming pool on the rooftop - all covered in glass overlooking the cascades. We didn't have swimming trunks! .
6. Public restrooms are huge and very clean.
Overall, I had a great time. -

We stayed here the last weekend of June. We booked through a travel website for the hotel portion of Terminal City. This is a mixed-use facility, part hotel and part residential. Unfortunately, they simply do not know how to behave as a hotel.
First, when we checked in, we were told that the parking gate closes at 11 pm, so if we were going to drive anywhere, our car must be back by 11 pm. Strange, but that's okay because we were planning to be back by 11. Fine. Next, I asked about the wine bar that's touted on the website. The front desk let me know that is closed on the weekends. The dining room was closed for a wedding. What was open, she added, was the pub. I asked how to get to the pub, and one of the staff members had to escort us using a fob key down a service entrance. He then said, "go down this hall, push the green button, and go into the door on the right." This is the type of entry you'd use to make food service deliveries, by the way.
The kicker was the following day. We wanted to use the pool. We couldn't get to the pool because "we forgot to turn the elevators on for guests." So we had to be escorted to the pool. The pool itself is fine, but apparently is reserved on weekend mornings for lap swimming and residents have first priority (that is not noted in the facilities book in the room, although the desk clerk insisted it was). Finally, to *leave* the pool we needed a fob key, and the clerk eyed us suspiciously and asked us why we didn't have one. When we explained we were there for 1 night, he said, "oh, yeah, we don't have a lot, so 1-night stay people might not get one." Nice. Classy.
I forgot to add that the room itself was not very nice. It looked onto a concrete wall and the paint was chipped and scuffed. I've stayed at places that aren't 4-stars but had nicer rooms.
If you want a place that supposedly has great facilities but you can't access them because you're a second-class citizen (read: not resident), then stay here. Otherwise, go to an actual hotel where everyone is treated equally. There is no way I'd ever go back here. -

I have been ending up at this club for weddings and the gold medal men's hockey game during the Olympics and thought I'd write a note. It is a private club so you can't just walk in but it is also a very nice facility for hosting an event, the last I went to was a wine tasting and it is well setup and very well run for this. I give them 5 stars for anything dealing with food. I think the decor is stuck in the 30s done in the 80s but that's another issue.

I spent a gorgeous evening here for a wedding. The lobby is really welcoming and leads you naturally to the banquet hall. The decor is elegant and neutral. The staff were excellent. Filling my beverage and clearing my plates were properly timed and seemed effortless.

Great hotel, rooms and downtown location. Lunch in the Grill was superb. Who serves a meatloaf sandwich or liver and onions any more? Here they are!!

I choose to belong but do wonder. The facilities are generally a 4.5 and the staff is friendly enough but there is no net value. No effort to know your name. No effort to offer networking. Mediocre and no effort to make one feel special and recognized
