    I love TekSavvy.

I switched over after years of being fed up with Bell and their high prices, hicuppy internet and general douchebaggery.

Setting up service was painless unless you're the type of person who calls tech support before rebooting and checking your cables first. I bought my modem from a reseller on craigslist, who it turns out, could have gotten me $10 off my first month. D'oh!

    Here's the lowdown
    - $35/month
    - wicked speed
    - no download cap (I don't think... I haven't approached it yet if there is one)
    - AMAZING service. I was having issues with connectivity early on, and the reseller was happy to replace the modem at no cost, then coached me on what sort of cables to buy, how to optimize connectivity, where to get good cables cheap, etc. Tech support on the phone is just as helpful.
    - no surprises in the cost! I kept getting dinged by Bell for going over their paltry 60G limit. $3 per gig? Please.

I also switched my landline to TekSavvy and it was stress-free and less expensive than Bell.

Since we've switched, Bell has been calling and mailing us for months and months, offering us all sorts of discounts. Where were these discounts when the service was shit and I was paying my bills on time for 10 years? They've since stopped calling, but the mail keeps coming, 1 year later. I'd call them to tell them to stop, but I'm okay with them wasting $2 per piece  on me. Go F yourself, Bell!!

    Was with Rogers:

    60gb
    10Mb/s down
    500kb/s up
    For about $45+ a month
    (under contract)

Totally throttled all the time. Downloads usually did not exceed 30kb/s (wtf)

    Now with Teksavvy:

    200gb
    10Mb/s down
    500 kb/s up
    All for 35$ a month

    And speeds are zooming.

Only downside so far - higher setup costs (must get a specific modem). Been with them for 10 months - haven't looked back.

After an excruciating experience with Hell (err, Bell. Although...) internet, I was getting ready to go back to Rogers (which was sub-par for me as well), when someone recommended Teksavvy to me.

Right off the bat I was unsure. Their website looks very drab and quickly slapped together, but I pressed on. I settled on their "Express" cable internet, which is a 10mbps connection with a 300GB cap at $36.95/month. It's also worth noting that they don't  supply the modem, you have to purchase one off of them if you don't already have one that works with them.

When I called them up to set up an account and to purchase the modem, I noticed something rather alarming. The representative was NORMAL! Now, I know that it's a small part of the overall internet experience, but this is one aspect where Bell and Rogers both failed for me. With Rogers, it was always evident that the reps knew nothing, and were pulling 'solutions' out of their asses, and being a little rude about it...when they were understandable, of course. With Bell, they were also generally clueless, but it appears they put a LOT of time into making their reps polite. Like, overly polite. Stepford Wife polite. It's appreciated, but kind of creepy. Anyway, Teksavvy's guy was like talking to a regular guy, who was not only polite, but pretty funny, and even gave me some guidance as to which modem to buy to suit my connection (which ended up saving me $25). It was extremely painless, without a single bump in the road or "durr" moment. The only thing that kind of sucked is that the earliest time to get the line set up was almost 2 weeks later. Oh well, them's the breaks.

Being an affiliate of Rogers, the cable connection had to be set up by Rogers technicians, which was alright, despite them ending up having to run an ungodly black cable all the way across the white baseboards of my apartment. Oh the horror! Anyway. Within an hour, the line was setup, and the connectivity was immediate, and I took it for a test drive.

Great googly moogly, the SPEED! It not only competed with the speed I was getting with Bell, but TRIPLED IT. The even more awesome/sad part? I was now paying almost half of what I used to pay Bell every month.

It has now been a month with Teksavvy, and I haven't had any disconnections, explosions, big slowdowns, or STI's as a result of this change-over. Score!

    Teksavvy gets an A+!

Update: Connection went down for no reason last night and today. Teksavvy's reliability record takes another step down. They are now simply the lesser evil as compared to Rogers/Bell.

If you live in the GTA there is absolutely no reason that these guys are not your ISP.  They provide DLS and Cable options.  The exact same quality of service as Bell or Rogers yet you pay much less and get way more bandwidth.

Also I noticed torrents do not get dropped and I am getting 20mbit download speeds.

$46.50 per month tax in for a 20 mbit 300gb download limit!!

Was with bell for over 10 years, got sick of the increasing price and terrible customer service. I canceled my bell and went to teksavvy. Not only do I save about $20 a month, I get the same speed and have more control over my connection. The customer service has been great and they helped solve my credit card billing issues with ease. Did I mention 200gb caps vs Bell's 60? That alone is worth the switch.

Highly recommended to anyone who is tired of bell or rogers corrupt ways!

Love tek savvy.  Good support. Call late evening if you can it is quicker to get through.  One must realize they are resellers and are therefore at the mercy of Sympatico and Rogers.  After a year with them bell kept downgrading my line and everytime Tech Savvy filed a ticket Sympatico downgraded further so that I couldn't even connect.  This was Bell's way of trying to get a customer to come back to them.  So I switched to Tek Savvy's cable which meant I had to go back to Mr. Rogers for T.V. in order to have the cable line, plus I tossed the Bell phone lines out of my house and went elsewhere. So Bell lost what they had of my business and lost it for good.  But with Tek Savvy I can download all the netflicks I want and the internet is fab for my business with great download speeds from Rogers.

Teksavvy had growing pains a few months back.  Glad to report that they are back at being awesome.  Happy I made the switch and hope to dump other Bell services completely.

I have difficulty rating Teksavvy. I've heard nothing but good things about them from friends and family. I signed up for the beginning of September and still have them. The problem (and this is a big one): They don't have enough staff to support their mass marketing as of late. As a first customer, I had to wait half an hour to actually talk to someone to sign up. I had to call twice after that for tech support, each time I was on hold 40 minutes +, during the day and after 7, no difference. Billing made errors twice, and also on hold 40 minutes to talk to them. Not good when I only have a cell phone and limited minutes. So I emailed billing the second time. Took a few emails to get them to answer my question.

Otherwise, I have had no problems with the internet. Fast enough, tons of bandwidth, and cheaper than Bell or Rogers. They really need to improve their waiting time for tech support and billing though. At least they aren't outsourcing to India (as far as I can tell), at least I can understand them and vice versa.

My self-proclaimed 'nerdy' friends recommended TekSavvy to me for my internet hook-up. I was excited to try someone that WASN'T either of the Big Bullies (Rogers & Bell).
So let's see... for my cable internet the Lite deal was $27.95. (Rogers is $30.95). That's where the compairason stops. TekSavvy kicks Rogers ass for speed and gig cap. Lite service gets you 3mbps up/256k downloadspeed and a 300gb cap. WOO!! Rogers gives you 3mbps up but with a gig cap of 15gb!! Are you serious.
Nuh uh. TekSavvy wins hands down. Price and gigs take the cake!
Another plus for me was just the pricipal of supporting the little guy. These guys are an independant service provider, i think they are based in Cambridge, ON. Maybe i was lucky when i had to call for help, i didn't wait very long for an agent. The guy on the phone was super nice and helpful in answering all my questions.
Your month to month bills will be tiny, but the first month will be alot more. I wanted wireless and had to go out and buy my own router (not very expensive).
I'm SO glad these guys are out there as an alternative. Yay TekSavvy!

    This is my TekSavvy saga:

I called them to set up Home Phone and Internet service, and they couldn't find me in their directory because my building is new. CSR#1 tells me that he has to have his supervisor add our building to the database, it will take a few hours, and I should call back tomorrow.

I call back the next day. CSR#2 tells me that my address is not in their directory, and that CSR#1 will phone me when he hears back from Bell on my request. This is not what CSR#1 told me, and thus probably not what CSR#1 plans to do, but nonetheless, CSR#2 insists it will happen.

I decide to give up on TekSavvy and call Bell to move my service, in the process discovering the reason why TekSavvy can't find me. I hang up (politely) on Bell and call TekSavvy back. CSR#3 enters my order, ships me a modem and tells me that my phone service will be set up on the day after I move and my DSL 5 business days later. I work from home and can't wait 5 days for internet, so I decide to get Rogers to set up cable internet temporarily since it is free for 3 months and I can cancel it once my DSL is working.

6 days before I move in, TekSavvy calls to confirm my appointment to have Bell hook up my phone service the next day (TekSavvy is a reseller, so Bell does all the actual work). I call them back and remind them that I don't live there and ask them to reschedule.

5 days before I move in, Bell calls from outside my building asking to be let in. I call TekSavvy back again to reschedule again.

The day after I move in, Bell shows up to set up my phone service. They are very rude about it, but that's Bell for you.

2 days after I move in, I get an email from TekSavvy letting me know that they've scheduled my phone service for activation on the previous day. This email would have been more helpful had it arrived 24 hours before instead of 24 hours after that happened.

6 days after I move in, I think 'my DSL is supposed to be up and working today, I should switch over'. Then I realize that nobody has ever provided me with a userID or password for my DSL account. Because I have Rogers set up anyway, I decide not to worry about it.

10 days after I move in -- 5 days after my DSL was supposed to be working -- I got an email telling me that it will be working another 5 days later, unless it gets delayed up to 10 business days. Helpfully, it does include my userID and password for that eventual time when they get it working.

I sent them an email pointing out that they've already delayed my installation for 10 days, and another 10 days wouldn't be acceptable. They write back and admit it's just another bad form email that doesn't really apply and that my service will be set up as scheduled.

15 days after I move in, another Bell technician comes, expecting to set up my phone line. I point out that my phone line is perfectly fine, and he's here to set up my DSL. I have no idea if this was a mis-order from TekSavvy or a mistake on the part of Bell, but at that point, all I could do was roll my eyes.

Once my DSL was actually set-up by the Bell tech, I had to finish setting it up via my router myself, and it took me a few days to bother doing that. In a rather startling display of competence and customer care, TekSavvy contacted me by both email and phone to check and see if I was having problems, since they hadn't seen any data transfer on my connection. I wasn't having problems, at least not ones they could solve ("I don't wanna crawl under my desk and move wires around" is not really a problem they can be expected to solve), but I really appreciated that bit of attention.

When I finally did set up the router, it ended up requiring a quick call to TekSavvy's technical support, who were very fast and very helpful and solved the problem very easily.

Everything seems to be up and running properly at this point, and I'm hopeful there'll be no ongoing concerns. My overall impression is that TekSavvy is really set up to take over services for disgruntled Bell customers rather than to set up new customers themselves, and that coupled with the fact that I was trying to get set up in a new building, caused most of the problems. Given the price, and the high download caps, I'm not incredibly unhappy with TekSavvy, but there are a few points where they could stand to improve their CSR training to smooth out some rough spots. At the same time, there are other places where their service is well above average.

I've been using Teksavvy for my home internet and home phone services for more than a year.  I really like this company.  It's signficantly cheaper than Rogers or Bell, and the service is much better.  When something goes wrong, a real person answers the phone and gets things fixed without undo fuss or complexity.  Generally, things don't go wrong.  I've never had any issues with the service, and the uptime has been close to perfect.

These folks are headquartered somewhere in South Western Ontario, but they offer services over a wider swath of the country.

One of the best decisions i've ever made was switching from Rogers to Teksavvy.  I've had zero issues in 2 and a half years of service.  Anytime I do have a question or concern, i call in and talk to a real person within about 20 seconds.  Its great!
Price is fantastic, no contracts, 200Gigs a month, great english speaking tech support.
    Best ISP i've ever had.
