Oshawa, ON
this place is one of the reasons i moved to Oshawa hahaha. But really it has great food and good service. There is almost always a line up to get it but it's worth the wait :-)

Teddy's was recommended to me because I was looking for an affordable diner with big servings.
Well, I found one! I ordered the chicken with sauce and my husband ordered roast beef. The waitstaff were uber friendly. The price superb!
However, I cannot say the same for the food. I was not impressed. The servings were big, but the taste was just not up to par.
All in all it was a good experience and we would go again for a cheap eat. -

I've been going to this place since the early 80's, and every time I am in town I have to drop by to get my fix. My favorite, hot roast beef on a bun, with side salad and house dressing. And their strawberry desserts, yum!

I was recommended to go to Teddy's for a good turkey dinner, so I decided to go and see what it's all about..
They do not have any type of bread on the menu, which I wanted some garlic bread but I was out of luck. Instead they bring a roll with every meal. It was stale! You would assume since everything comes with a roll they would be at least fresh....
You have a choice between soup or salad and I ended up getting the soup which was chicken vegetable. It came in a very small odd shaped bowl and was a bit salty but I did finish the bowl and I am glad because...
The turkey gravy was horrible, I don't know what they use but it looked bright yellow and tasted like oil, reminded me of butter! I love turkey, but this gravy ruined the whole plate for me.. I have never tasted anything like it before.. The stuffing was burnt and the potatoes were very bland and lifeless.
I don't think I would be running back to Oshawa anytime soon for turkey dinner. -

Should be closer to 4.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow us. This is more of a general review than a particular visit.
I have lived in Oshawa over 30 years and Teddy's has gone through many chenages throughout the years, mostly additions to the building which is located at the SE corner of King St. (Highway #2) and Park Rd.
The reason the restaurant has been so popular over the years is mainly because of one reason: the portion size.
So many of the people I come in contact with tell me that ordering a meal is like ordering two: one to eat, and the other to take home. I cannot comment on all portions of each item on the menu, which is quite vast, as I usually order one of five items, that all happen to be my favourites.
Funny how one person raves, and another criticizes. An earlier reviewer said that she didn't like the turkey gravy because it reminded her of butter. I however LOVE the turkey gravy, although I cannot see how it reminded her of butter.
The lineups can get quite long at peak dinner hour, especially on weekends, and I am fairly certain you cannot make reservations.
Another plus is that you get a free pie on your birthday. Well at least they did a year ago when I attended a friend's birthday.
Teddy's is an icon of Oshawa, and if you are visiting our wonderful city, take up a seat at Teddy's restaurant, you are likely not going to be disappointed.

Oshawa, ON
I've enjoyed every meal I've eaten there. Just moved to the Shwa, and everybody kept asking me if I've been to Teddy's yet, and after a few meals there, it's easy to see why! I love their onion rings, though next time I'll probably share them. The Reuben sandwich is my personal favourite.
I enjoy the ambience, especially the classic photos, and even though I'm not a fan of crowds, I'm willing to endure the masses of humanity and the wait times (allow 15-30 minutes for standing in line) to dine there. -

In Oshawa at noon on a Monday between appointments, decided Teddy's would be great for lunch. Surprisingly, although most tables were full, there was no lineup whatever, so were seated immediately.
We've been to Teddy's a number of times and generally liked it very much, and pretty well knew what we wanted. I ordered Pastrami on rye with fries and gravy, and a side of dills. Hubby ordered a hot hamburger sandwich with fries and gravy, and peas (one slice of bread only, please).
Pastrami on rye - very good, lots of tender and tasty pastrami. Side of dills (90 cents) was one fairly smallish dill cut in four pieces (I think that in the past there was more, but maybe my memory is off). Fries were not hot, nor was the gravy, but I let it go.
Hubby's hot hamburger sandwich was served with green beans, not the peas requested; this was corrected as soon as mentioned. Everything on the plate, however, was just barely warm (peas not really cooked). Entire plate was removed and replaced, with no better result. He didn't eat it, had it packed up for home where it could actually be served hot.
Strawberry pie for dessert was delicious, and not added to the bill due to the semi-cold food issue.
Service was fast and friendly, but Hubby won't likely be in a hurry to return. -

Teddy's is an Oshawa staple.
When my friends and I get a chance to catch up in the shwa, this is usually the first place of recommendation that everyone screams out.
What is so special about Teddy's?
- great veal
- great fries and gravy
- their house salad dressing (thankfully you can buy their salad dressing to go)
- strawberry pie
- pickled beets
I could truly go on about the food. I have been going here since I was a kid. Have not been disappointed.
What makes Teddy's unique?
- no booze
- very quick service
- the military regiment waitresses
- the signs that let you know you have a 20 minute wait to be seated
- there is always a line up
A true Oshawa institution that has to be experienced.Listed in: The Burbs To The East

Used to love this place when I was younger, but since becoming Vegetarian about 10 years back, I haven't been able to get much off the menu.
Dudes need to get a veggie burger on the menu. -

I loved going to Teddy's with my grandparents when I was younger, so I was excited to get to go there again with my fiancé and find that it hadn't changed a bit. Just as awesome as ever. Well worth the wait!

Oshawa, ON
Teddys is one of the most famous eateries in Oshawa. It is very popular and quite busy. The food here I find is good if not exceptional. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, but we have encountered some attitude on occasion. The menu offers a wide variety of food types and I hear the salad and house dressing are amazing. The service is fast and they have a very small take out area although it does look like they are expanding it at this time.

As an American, this was a great find!! A true diner experience! May have to wait for a few minutes if it is lunch or dinner time, but it is so worth it! Waitresses were so friendly and helpful--even saved us money by rearranging our selections into a dinner special..Everything is delicious!! Pies are the best! For a unique, neighborhood experience,Teddy's wins !
