I'm not by all means a tea connoisseur.  But thanks to couple of visits to some premium tea shops in Chicago and Washington D.C. and of course, to Tea Dynasty, I have gained an appreciation and developed a taste for premium tea, especially Chinese tea.

It was supposed to be a "quick look" inside the beautiful tea shop (which opened in November 2010).  Instead, my fellow Yelper and I found ourselves learning about Chinese Tea and tasting two fantastic Oolong tea varieties plus the featured tea of the day.

Inside you'll also find tea sets and crockery as well as an extensive selection of premium tea, neatly and colorfully displayed on the shelves.  White tea, green tea, oolong tea, black tea, pu-erh tea, herbal tea and herbal & fruit blends.  They have many varieties.  I'm sure you'll find something that you like.  Prices range from $5.99 - $23.99 per 50g, fairly reasonable.

What I love about this tea shop is that they encourage you to get the full "tea culture" experience.  Smell it and taste it.  Find the right tea for you.  I found one of my favorites, Da Hong Pao [Big Red Robe], an Oolong/Black tea variety that is very aromatic.  If you love Oolong and Black tea, I highly recommend it or at least ask to taste it.  They will be more than happy to oblige.

They also offer made-to-order tea drinks, as well as some mouthwatering sweets too!

I had a fun and informative experience at Tea Dynasty.  Can't wait to return and sample more tea!

Had a very cool tea experience at this quaint tea shop just south of Yonge and Bloor.

Something I found different from other tea shops is there are small canisters of teas on the customers side..  I was invited to take my time to read up on tea descriptions and smell the teas. Nice.

If you don't know what to try (which wouldn't be uncommon, there is a large selection of white, black, green, oolong teas) the staff is helpful to recommend a tea to try.

They also have desserts like macaroons. Tempting..

If you do decide to stay to drink,   I would recommend you do, they bring to your table  the a tea pot, loose leaf tea and hot water, they then place a timer on the table. After 2 and half minutes the timer range and I poured myself a glass of freshly steeped oolong..

This was pretty cool and different experience from other tea shops I've been to.

What a nice tea shop filled with wonderful traditional teas such as Green, White, Black and Pu-erh Teas. Then even have those great FLOWING teas.....really pretty.

I was in here a couple of times this week and really love it.
The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I'm now hooked on the  cooked Pu-erh Tea. It's really nice.

Was able to watch a customer experience a traditional tea ceremony -- very beautiful.

Glad this is in my neighbourhood....I will certainly be a pretty regular customer.

Tea Dynasty located on Yonge Street just South of Bloor does look like one of those DavidsTea or Teaopia franchise stores that I frequent.

However, at Tea Dynasty you would not find those non tea products that the other place carries. Here all the tea are mostly Chinese tea or Chinese tea blended. What I would say is Real Tea.

The other difference is here the staff really knows their Tea and really care about their products they are selling. For every tea they sell, they put that in a tin can since it is the best way to make sure the tea leaves are fresh and instructions are given to make sure that the customers knows what they are doing without ruining their tea.

Me and my friend did a free tea tasting of 3 different tea:
Black Tea: Golden Needle of Tanyang Congou ($17.99/50g)
    Oolong: Big Red Robe ($17.99/50g)
Tea of the Week : Fruity type blended green tea

Using the traditional Chinese tea set, the staff made the tea and shared them with us. It was a really enjoyable experience. He even suggested us to come back to try a few more teas before actually buying some to drink at home. (since one can only taste a few tea per session before your taste buds lost their senses)

I really suggest beginning tea drinkers to go and visit Tea Dynasty and taste some of their tea. Tea quality and pricing are reasonable starting from $5.99 to $23.99/50g. You might not find the most exotic Chinese tea here but it is priced well for everyday consumption.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff makes Tea Dynasty's tea shopping and tasting experience awesome!

Free WIFI and all the prices are taxes in. There is also a little seating area if you do want enjoy your cup of tea here with some sweets.

    They accepts Visa and MasterCard.
