If you're ever downtown and need a bubble tea fix, this is the place to go.
Worn down leather chairs are available to hug your bum and in a good way. They're comfy, allowing you to slouch as the barista expertly makes your order.
It's a trendy little cafe off of 97 Street and come evening, you will probably be listening to the locals croon some sweet sweet mandarin/cantonese karaoke. Don't be intimidated because it's still a friendly place to bring friends to sit, talk, laugh, and enjoy some unique bubble tea flavors. There's always Chinese magazines like fashion and import tuner cars on the magazine rack so feel free to grab one and pretend to read like me because I can't read Chinese. Maybe you'll see a nice hair cut on a famous Chinese actor or have some inspiration from trends across the ocean.
I don't have a recommendation in terms of flavors because every time I come here, I tell the good man that I'll have the "Surprise".
Yes, I'm the type that asks for "Do whatever you think looks good" when I get my hair cut and I still do the same for my bubble tea here at Tea Bar.
To my satisfaction, he never disappoints as he always comes up with the craziest flavors. It honestly is a party in my mouth, and I will most likely invite you because it's that good.
My ONLY gripe is when you get to the end of your drink, you're going to experience what I fondly refer to as "B&D". Black and Decker. The guy's gotta get a new blender because there's quite a bit of ice chunks down there.
If you want to experience a little bit of Asian culture, try their pastries as it will probably be one of the few places open late night that sells Hong Kong/Taiwanese style pastries.
Leave with this thought: "Chinatown, avoid Tea Cottage, go to Tea Bar, sing some karaoke."Listed in: Best Bubble Tea in Edmonton

Gotta say I'm mega-surprised that Tea Bar got such high ratings. Just stopped by this evening and was pretty disappointed. I don't know what happened, but it seems to have lost its touch!
My avocado milkshake was a lot more crushed ice and milk than avocado. If I closed my eyes and concentrated really hard, I might have tasted a bit of the avocado. You shouldn't have to work that hard to enjoy your food though, especially if it's bubbletea! My bf ordered the Hong Kong style coffee, which arrived rather warm and tepid than hot.
The cafe seemed dark and dingy as well, kinda ghetto ... and the windows are all covered by a black covering (garbage bags?), so the entire place is not very welcoming overall. The ambiance has just gone downhill. And it's not like the bubbletea here is much cheaper than other places in town; you can get quality or at least pretty decent bubbletea elsewhere in the city for about the same price.
Sorry, Tea Bar, but please step it up a notch - or a few - soon!2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Tea Bar has revamped their appearance, and I gotta say, it looks very ... yellow. Like "Caution"… Read more »

I love how the atmosphere is very comfortable, and enjoyable. For a place that serves bubble tea, they also serve very healthy fruit drinks made on the spot. They also have those egg muffins which are my favorite.
At night they turn into a semi karaoke bar, and it's very relaxing and fun. Great for small groups for our ages. -

My favorite bubble tea place in the whole city. Why? Because they're the only ones who keep up with food and make the cafe mocha with extra chocolate chunks exactly how I want it and they're always smiling! I love them!

Bubble tea encompasses a variety of drinks with fruit juice, milk, or tea at their base, combined with fresh fruit or flavoured syrups, and finished with a hearty helping of sago - gooey, brown, sweet balls that are sucked up through very wide straws. Bubble tea has its roots in Taiwan, and became known in North America a few years ago.
At The Tea Bar Café, there are around one hundred kinds of bubble drinks. I often enjoy a coffee milk with sago, or a mocha. With a friend of mine who had never before tried bubble tea, I had my favourite fresh fruit drink: avocado (yes, avocado is a fruit). My friend tried fresh cantaloupe, and enjoyed every sweet, refreshing sip.
A few days later, I spent an afternoon acting as a tour guide to the neighbourhood with another friend. She was already was familiar with bubble tea, and decided to go with the extremely sweet and rich Ferrero Rocher ice with sago. I went with a coffee milk sago, and together, Mel and I explored Chinatown, Little Italy, and the historic houses of the area without worrying about getting thirsty along the way.
The Tea Bar Café is also a great place to hang out, with a colourful, warm atmosphere and comfortable chairs. Light meals and snacks such as a variety of toasts and noodle dishes are also available, many of which are under five dollars. An average bubble drink will run in the four to five dollar range. Payment is cash only. -

What's that you say! The drink maker will make a WHATEVER? WHAT IS THAT?
This lil tea house is very retro and very narrow. You would think there is now where to sit, but there are more chairs in the back.
Why I rave about this place...cuz i can't stop raving...can't stop raving... is this WHATEVER drink. The drink maker creates a concoction mixing different flavours with drifferent additives to create this great party in your mouth. From each time I have went, something different was always made and each time it was greatly enjoyed.
I give this place 5 stars cuz this guys has cajones in making a drink that could make or break it for business!
