I decided to try Tazza Cafe after reading a review about it in Vue Magazine. This was at a time when I was all about "trying new things," so I grabbed my partner and went here for a late lunch.
At first we wondered where the heck this place was, because we only saw a sign outside of a historical brick building. (I now know this building is called LeMarchard Mansion.) We walked into the building and saw a beautiful long hallway. There were all types of businesses inside, and we finally found Tazza Cafe.
When you first walk in, it looks a lot like a bistro; there was a chalkboard scratched with all the menu items. We really didn't know what to order, but one of the chefs that was standing there gave us some suggestions. Since it was late in the day, they didn't have everything available, but he said he could whip us up some paninis, so we went for that.
While we waited, we sat down at a table deeper in the cafe. There was a lot of natural light coming in from the windows that looks over the River Valley. It was a beautiful view and a beautiful restaurant, as it has some very cool art all over the place, including statues and pictures. Many of the tables themselves were art, because they have pictures right on them. I have never been to Europe, but I definitely felt like I was in a European Cafe.
When the food was ready, the chef served it to us personally. He was extremely nice, by the way. The panini was amazing. The flat bread was so soft; the cheese was incredibly creamy; and the tomatoes and onions tasted so fresh. It also came with tzatziki on the side, which was also delicious.
When we went to pay, I was surprised by the price. It came to $28, which I thought was pretty expensive for lunch, but they did charge us $3 for a can of pop. The price was worth it though, because it was such high-quality, and I really felt it was made with passion.
They don't serve dinner here, but the chef said they will have this available eventually. Even though this place is a little pricey, it's also amazing, and I will be back. -

After years of walking by and drooling over one of the city's older, lovlier buildings, LeMarchand Mansion, it finally dawned on me one day that I could actually go INSIDE; a cappuccino from Tazza, the Mediterranean cafe inside, provided the perfect excuse.
If you take the entrance on 100th ave, you can walk under a lovely stained glass light fixture, pretty much bypass the actual restaurant part of Tazza and instead order coffee or tea directly from a small counter that looks into their kitchen. Everyone in there was super friendly and pleasant, and my cappuccino was whipped up by the owner himself while he engaged me in conversation.
Some of the teas they carry look absolutely exquisite; they had a large selection teas made with single-origin ingredients in addition to the usual coffee fare. I can't remember how much the cappuccino cost but it was a little low on foam and slightly burnt. Even so, Tazza gave me a good feeling and I'll be going back one of these days, this time for a meal.
