Review from Cameron M.

Thinking back on my heady late teens the one thing that surprises me is I didn't die from eating Tataya. It's not that the food seems particularly bad or anything but just the combination of iffy location, iffy decor/cleanliness and iffy food always makes me wonder how I escaped unscathed.
Tataya is mostly famous for its incredibly cheap all-you-can-eat menu and it indeed does deserve some props for it. They never really try to pull tricks on you by holding orders back or not giving you what you want, like some more reputable seeming places do. It's got pretty much any traditional thing you could ask for on the menu as well, though the focus is definitely on sushi and not any other Japanese foods.
What docks marks for Tataya is their location. It's in a weird strip mall and everything about the place is seedy. though I'm sure it's clean it seems kind of grungy and gross. Like I say, I've never had the FOOD be unclean but it's no the kind of place you want to spend much time in.
The quality is alright but with Hong's Sushi, a much better choice, a block away it's hard to argue Tataya is really trying. So if you want a ton of mediocre sushi in a gross place, head here. Otherwise you have a few other options and I'd suggest you exercise them.
