Absolutely love Tastebuds! Found this little gem while working downtown, I so often needed to get out of the office and once I found this restaurant, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner (and yes I am guilty of all 3 lol) it was always a first choice treat!
They make all of their food from scratch, no pre-prepared over processed frozen meatballs from a box, mashed potatoes on top of Shepard's Pie are real, not re-hydrated flakes, the list goes on... The Staff are ultra friendly and so willing to chat about the menu, the weather, or the day. Really nice to have a few little places in Calgary that have it all! -

I was really happy to see that the car through the front window of Tastebuds was not the end of the cafe, but just something that got in their way for a few weeks until everything got fixed up again.
Today, I was downtown attempting to make my way out of downtown. At rush hour. It wasn't fun. It was also almost dinner time and my tummy was growlin' at me. So I parked my car and hit the streets to wait out the traffic. Not too far into my wanderings, I came across Tastebuds and headed in to see what I could find to calm the increasingly loud murmurings coming from my belly. What I found was a selection of pastas, stews and other premade meals just waiting in their own little casserole dishes to be warmed up for you. And the price is right to... my 1/2 chicken enchilada was $6.95 and filling enough for me. The full order (two of them instead of one) I think was $10.95. It also came with a tossed salad on the side.
The service? It was A++. The guy working behind the counter was so super friendly! He had a "Hi, how are ya!" for me when I walked in, complimented my choice of salad dressings for my side salad, brought my food out to me when it was ready with a "dinner time!" and bade me a good night as I headed out the door. Nicely done man behind the counter, nicely done.
So if you're looking for some fast food that isn't fast food à la cheap and wholesome, find your way down to Tastebuds.

This place is great - so cozy! We have eaten from here many times since they've reopened, it's so nice to have a quick place with wholesome offerings. Typically we pick up eats for take away. The staff in this shop are adorable, they get to know their customers quick and develop a solid rapport.
The lasagna seems to be a big seller, I haven't had it yet but whenever I see someone tucking into it I wonder why I haven't. Soups are always good and their sandwhiches are bang on. So good! -

I love Tastebuds.
They were closed for awhile after an accident involving a car going through their window but they are back! Same great food, same great service.
They have a great selection of lunch items in a case as well as sandwiches-I love their chicken enchiladas. Many meals come with a small side salad-I really find their portions to be a good size and are of good value.
What the other reviewers said about the muffins is true too! Nothing like a warm muffin to start the day-so good.
It is a unique concept for downtown and I am glad they reopened! -

Friendly staff keep me coming back for my morning coffee. Free muffin with purchase is a nice touch as well :)

Every morning from 6:30-10:30, a hot drinks snags you a free muffin, and as another reviewer mentioned these are baked every morning. The coffee is well-priced, the espresso is decent, and the staff are always friendly.
Lunches provide freshly made and packaged pasta dishes, shepherds pie, lasagnas etc... that are re-heated and come with a salad. For the serving size, the prices are very good, always coming in at under $6. You can also get a great sandwich for about $7, with fresh vegetables and real meat, like turkey, beef, and chicken.
There's really nothing amazing about this place that sets it apart from the 4 dozen other cafes in the city centre. There are no frills here. It's cozy, comfort food that's well-priced, and served with a smile.
I would choose this place over Starbucks (which is right across the street) every stinkin' time. -

I was introduced to this place by a friend. They have really good food! I suggest the tortellini pasta dish in a large portion if you're hungry while waiting for a coffee! They have wifi! If you can't connect ask for the password! The service is exceptional! When I was in line to the cash register one of the staff took my order! Great service, good food by value!

Before 10am, this cozy cafe serves a free muffin with your regular coffee -- often, the muffins will be fresh out of the oven! They have specialty coffee and chai too, but I usually prefer to go the simple route and get the regular stuff.
Breakfasts are yummy --- my favorite is the breakfast bagel topped with your choice of smoked salmon or ham, egg, and a variety of veggies.
A variety of lunches and snacks are offered as well -- fruit and pasta salads, lasagna, and bento boxes. If you have a sweet tooth, they've got cakes too.
Staff is cheerful, and the owners run an annual "fill a mini cooper" charity food drive to help the local community during Christmas.
