Ok. I normally don't give 5 stars. Even with this place being near a Chipotle it's a great place to eat if you're craving mexican food. Chipotle has the same menu and no variety.
Taqueria Polanco has so many varieties = 1 star.
Taqueria Polanco doesn't smell like the others in Daly City that just reek and have flies that land in the food= 1 star.
Staff is great = 1 star (been here more than 5 times in January). Watch TV while you wait and they even ask you if you want to see the news or change the channel that interests you= 1 star.
Food is truly fulfilling = 1 star.

    A-okay overall. Service is friendly.

Came here because I was shopping at Target. http://s3-media3.ak.ye... The space is cute,  with a few dining tables inside, and a TV tuned to sports hanging above the door. http://s3-media1.ak.ye...

Average meat choices (beef, pork, chicken, fish and shrimp), and not enough foot traffic. Not enough customers, so the staff keeps only a small amount of meat in the warmer trays, while the rest is kept refrigerated. Which makes the meat just a little bit tough, compared to freshly grilled meats elsewhere.

I got a pair of carnitas tacos ($1.75 each), which were okay. The tortillas were very soft and fresh, but the meat was a bit dry. http://s3-media3.ak.ye... Also no salsa bar, so u specify to add mild or spicy salsa while they make your order.

Also got some custard filled churros ($1 each), but they were cold. http://s3-media3.ak.ye...

Other reviews make a big deal about having a bacon wrapped hot dog on the menu, but I don't consider that real Mexican food. Almost forgot to mention that they also have carne asada fries listed on the menu. I haven't tried that.

It obviously doesn't compare to Mission taquerias, but I'm sure that the employees who work around this Colma shopping center are glad to have a decent Mexican lunch spot.

What's the origin of the name Polanco?  Word on the street has it, that it's an upper scale section in Mexico City.  Whether the owner chose this name for the title of his business is above me, but I wouldn't be surprised if it actually the case.

Tucked inside this Colma plaza between the large conglomerates, Target and Michael's, is Taqueria Polanco.  Quite hidden is this place with no sign where the main road is.  So far I've talked to a few different people about the specific location and yielded the same question:

    "Where is this place?"
To the baseball coach: "Few stores down from Round Table."
To the mother of three and one along the way: "Near the Carter's, and a couple stores over from Michael's."
To the college student:  "Next to the Gamestop."

Sadly, this place doesn't have a local identity to be the answer, "Oh, it's next to Taqueria Polanco."  They deserve more notice.  I came here twice so far, and both times satisfied.  Only thing I wish they had was a salsa bar.  Salsa bars is to me what an ammunition station is to Rambo.

Not many places have the "California burrito" up in Northern California.  Basically the burrito consists of fries or potato wedges to be more precise.  I ordered a regular burrito the first time, and liked it.  So I deviated to another choice and ordered the California burrito.  Looks are deceiving because the size isn't the largest, but it was solid personified.  The baby brick was tasty and combined with the fries made each bite a hearty one.  Both times, Bun ordered three Mexico City tacos.  They were small in size, but with freshly grilled double wrapped tortillas, they carried a mean mixture of awesomeness.  She finished them each time in record times.

My burrito was around $7.50.  A little steep for a burrito, but you're paying for a sure thing.  You won't be left disappointed.  Materials used were all fresh and the fact they have a California burrito is a plus.  With an overall extensive menu, Taqueria Polanco has almost anything you can think of.  They even have a Mexican style hot dog.  A hot dog wrapped all the around in bacon.  I will personally pass on that not because how good it probably tastes, but because I may like it too much.  Give this place a shot, and if you're brave enough, try the dog!

I honestly don't see how this place has 4 stars.  My husband and I ordered take out from here.  I had one of each kind of pupusa that they "make" (includes a microwave). They lacked flavor and freshness.  Definitely not coming back for bland mexican food.

    Really disappointed...
After a day of shipping & errands, we were graving some Mexican fare. Yelped this spot & headed right on over. At 4 stars... no need to investigate any further. We ordered a california burrito & chicken enchilada plate. For starters, the order was wrong... We ended up receiving a beef enchilada. Both burrito & enchilada not tasty at all... Meat was tough, the enchilada sauce, in taste & texture... Was like something out of a can. Although the rice & beans were decent. For a plate of tortilla chips was an additional $1.50 - / for store bought/stale tortilla chips... The 1 star is actually not even for the food, their saving grace... The woman at the register was polite, even tho our order was not correct.

Food is pretty good but I would stick only with their burritos. I ordered the fish tacos and got hardly any meat, I finished it in two bites. I've also ordered their pupusa's before, they are made ahead of time unlike the pupuserias I go to in the Mission. They have too much masa, and the filling isn't that great.

It was a Saturday afternoon and slighly past lunch time. Bunny and I were thinking of places to go. We didn't want to go to a sit down restaurant. Then we remembered Tacqueria Polanco.

We had notice this before when shopping at Target and Michaels. It was the day after Christmas, so all the returns and after Christmas sales were going on at Target. filling up the parking lot. Finally we find a space and start heading over.

It is not a large place and you order first then sit down. We walk in and after looking at the menu for quite some time, I end up going with my usual, soft tacos. I decide on three Mexico city tacos while Bunny gets a California steak burrito. I like that there is no separate charge for different kinds of meat. I get one chicken, one steak and one pork, so I can try each one.

The casher is very friendly and nice. Our food is ready shortly. The portions of the tacos are perfect. The meat does not fall out as I roll it up and use my hands to eat. I start off with the steak and am impressed. The squares are cut up and are a good size. Next I have the pork (I think.) The meat has a lot of flavor and is not fat or greasy. Everything is nice and fresh. I did have some trouble figuring out which meat was chicken and pork, but I enjoyed them all to the point where that didn't matter. I rarely finish eating before Bunny. This was one of the exceptions. I totally forgot to offer him a bite or some of my tacos and by the time I realize this, I am nearly done. Oh well, there is always next time.

    I see myself returning here.

Mistakenly bills itself as "authentic Mexican" Enchilada sauce tastes like ketchep and instead of cotija "authentic" its topped with jack. And what Mexican place does not give you a side of free chips with a dinner plate?! Have to ask for salsa and very stingy. Not authentic, no coming back.

Just happened to be passing by after shopping at Michael's and wow that carnitas super taco was mmmmmhhhmmmm good. It was about 3 dollars and it looked and tasted like a $5 burrito. They also sell carne asada fries named under california nachos. Will be coming here to try that next time.
I also tried their creme filled churros since:

    $5 credit card minimum.

The churro was kinda stale and there was barely much filling. Those go for $1 for half a churro....not worth it. I would rather have saved those 2 dollars to buy ice cream at target a few doors down.

The only thing I've tried here are the nachos.

But based on that alone, it's a reason for my repeat business. The chips are thick and crunchy and they are very generous with the toppings. Probably the best nachos in Daly City.

Dude, YUCK! My grilled chicken taco was bland and greasy; my friend's steak quesadilla tasted like a damned McDonald's Big Mac, and was probably greasier. As if that's bad enough, chips are not automatically included. What the hell kind of taco joint doesn't include tortilla chips with every order?

If I wanted food this bland, flavorless, cheap, and greasy, I'd head for a restaurant specializing in American cuisine.

Two stars because the employee smiled and seemed nice enough, though he didn't exactly earn the money I put in his tip jar.

So I have seen this place before since I frequent Michaels, Bev Mo, and Target which are all in this center, but not till recently did I decide to give it a try. Wow!!!!!  I cant believe how great the nachos were!!! I ordered the super nachos steak...the meat was perfect, NO FAT in it which is my biggest pet peeve, I just hate to bite into anything like a burrito and find that theres fat in my mouth yuck!!! Not here everything about the  nacho plate was awesome! Good amount of meat, beans, sour cream, guac, pico de gallo, cheese was melted just right and jalapenos on the side per my request.
They make their own chips and they are just perfect and crunchy.Only downside is I didnt see a salsa bar like in most other places but the quality of the meat and ingredients is whats important to me. If Im in the mood for nachos I will def come here again!

$$$: Bill came out to $11 and some change, (nachos, 1 jarrito,1 Crush) Portion: Oh me n my offspring shared the plate and were content not too full but just right, shes helping me with my diet =p

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this previously...I'm there @ least 2x/per week and just celebrated Small Business Saturday there today.   (-:

If you're jones-ing for fresh Mex, skip the assembly line Chipotle across the parking lot and head to Polanco.  Their specials are divine, but we usually cave and order the Ocean Burrito.  Awesome.

Talked to the founders/owners...two bros who grew up in Mexico City and got tired of having to haul to the Mission for a decent burrito.  Lucky us!

Sunny, friendly place to chill before or after your Target visit...perfect for lunch, dinner or take out.  Super high qual ingredients and unlike most places, they understand and are happy to add more or less of your fave ingredient.

I was looking for a good authentic Taqueria near my area and I found it: Taqueria Polanco.  The place itself is kinda small but the menu is extensive- everything from burritos, quesadillas, tacos, and even bacon wrapped hot dogs! I ordered the super burrito and it was so good, packed with so much carne asada!  Also they had fresh melon juice which made my day, or they also have horchata.  The owner/staff was very nice and friendly.  It's located right next to Target so you can go after you shop.  I can' t wait to come back and try the other items on the menu!

Being a Mexican myself and an amazing Mexican cook too ;) I was hesitant to try this place out. My cousin and I we're walking by and he said something smells really good. Low and behold it was Taqueria Polanco. Small quaint hole-in-the-wall.

When we walked in,  the menu on the wall had so many selections, from chilaquiles, tamales and even the bacon wrapped hotdog. . But they got me at the California Burrito! I was sold! This burrito is a San Diego tradition or it is at least for me. The burrito comes w all the fixn's, stuffed with beans, rice, crema, guacamole carne asada and french fries! Yes French fries!!! I proceeded to order. My cousin and I started talking to the owner and he was very personable. We asked how he knew about the Cali Burrito and he said he was well traveled. I told him that I loved the fact that they make their own chips, so he gave me some for free. We got our order to go. And I told the owner I would be back if I was a satisfied customer.

So am I going back... As you can see from my star rating HECK YES I'm going back! Their burrito did not disappoint it. Looking forward trying everything on the menu....

    I'd rate this place 3.5.

Half of the time I love it here, and the other times, it's just OK.

While the food is really good, it's kind of inconsistent. One day i order tacos and they are HUGE and delicious, and then the next week it's kinda tiny.

But their rice is delicious, and anything that has it it delicious too.

Oh and get the custard filled churros.

This place rivals some of the great Taquerias in the SF Mission.

Go with the Mexico City Tacos - Beef Chili Colorado and Chicken. Homeruns everytime.

My boyfriend and I were stopping by to pick up some supplies from Michael's and he noticed a new taqueria joint next door so we had to stop by.

It's right next door to Game Stop and Carter's. Probably seats about 30-ish people inside. The place was really clean. It's big in the front part of the place, then gets small at the back. One way passage.

The owner is really nice and very friendly, he was having a conversation with my boyfriend the whole time. We ordered a chorizo burrito, came with chips and salsa and a small drink: $9+. The burrito wasn't as big as I thought it would be, Chipotle burrito's are bigger than the one we had. But they were nice enough to cut it in half for us. I've never tried chorizo before, it tasted really salty (to me), but not for my boyfriend. Overall, the flavors were good and I tasted everything.

This place also has a TV so you could watch some TV while you eat. I also like the fact that it's bright inside :) Overall good experience, I'd love to come back.

I really enjoyed this place the first time I went.  It's a nice surprise from the other hole-in-the-wall taquerias around the area.

For one, it's clean.  And second, I personally like the flavors in their burritos.

Both times that I've gone, I've ended up getting a burrito with carnitas and refried beans.  Both times, it's been very tasty.  It's not soiled down with that weird fake-Mexican flavor that I've found around here, (I'm from New Mexico, so....).  The owner(s)/workers are always very nice and friendly.  They've always thanked us for stopping by, which is nice because you don't get that kind of service everywhere.

Overall, I really like this place.  I think everyone should stop by and try it.  It has a nice selection on the menu, plus a nice staff and some tasty flavors.

Stopped by here last night after running into Home Depot and got two Chipotle Chicken burritos for about $14.  I really liked the flavor of the chicken.  A little different than what I am used to and it was a nice surprise.  Still have half for lunch today!  Will definitely be back to try other menu items.  They have a breakfast section too, which is exciting.
Also, the place was clean, in a convenient location and the owner was super nice.  Love supporting places like this.

Food was the reason. So decided to try this place. The place was super clean. Nice tables and high chairs. Made my order of chile relleno, and a carnitas tamale. Service was quick and food came out hot. Not so much spice you could not taste the food. (so you can add more if you like.) We also had the chips and salsa. (Fresh made chips not store bought.) Not bad for a mini mall kinda place. Found out from one of the workers that most everything is made in house.
I hope they take the advice make a change from the super cheap plastic forks and knifes to some nicer ones.

2nd time my carnitas were bland. Califrnia was good but not great. The best burritos I've eaten are from the mission. Not comparable.
Best tacos from taco trucks and the mission, well of course Mexico. Incomparable.

This is an update to rate only the pupusas (beans and cheese). For those who don't know what a pupusa is: It's a famous Salvadorean stuffed, solid tortilla (about 4" in diameter). Your choice of cheese (w/wo beans) only, or cheese with meat. Side of pickled cabbage included.

My pupusas tonight were a huge disappointment. At the overpriced $3.50 a pop, I expected way more filling. There was nooooo cheese so you know that pissed me off! Not to mention I ordered two! I was once again, skimped on. I'm beginning to see a pattern ;ol

For bigger, better, and cheaper pupusas, go to Balompie Cafe on 18th St. in the Mission (between Van Ness Ave & Capp St.)

Polanco, I'll be back to try the Mexican Hotdog. Please don't fail me!

Cashier made my burrito without washing hands!! Yea!!

The germ transfer went in this exact order:

    1) I opened the door.
    2) Handed them my cash.
    3) They operated the Register and gave me some change.
    4) They dug in a huge vat of cheese(FYI that lid is useless at this point),
    5) All up and down inside the bag of burritos flopping around like a fish,
    6) Smothered the utensils for lukewarm meat scoopage.
    7) Germy hands then rolled my burrito nice and tight.
    8) Handed back to me. De Nada.

Bravo!! You just hella contaminated your entire kitchen space and products with God knows what, but you know what I manned up and said oh well!! I was hungrier than a vegan at the Texas State Fair. I inhaled my burrito praying to God I didn't get bubble gut. All in all it was pretty good or maybe it was just one of those times when you're so freaking hungry that an acorn would taste like a chocolate truffle. Thank God I didn't get sick but will I come back? Eek probably not unless I am dying for some grub before I fight the Sunday crowd in Target. If you come make sure to bring your iron gut and penicillin for good measure.

A diamond in the rough, no doubt. I usually hate going to this part of Colma (mainly because the traffic is awful, and teenagers wear jeans so tight that it shows the outlines of their bodies). But a friend of mine told me about this place, so I decided to give it a go.

First of all, their menu is huge. You can get anything from a burrito, to a REAL mexican pizza, to a bacon-wrapped hot dog. Another plus is that they sell chimichangas and pupusas. I don't know many places that do, so you can only imagine how excited I was. I was pretty much a kid in Disneyland here.

I bought a California burrito with carne asada from this place. It wasn't too shabby, but they were a little stingy on the meat for me. Or maybe they used too much rice. Either way, more meat, less rice.

And like many reviewers have complained...no free chips. Which is a shame because I think that would've gotten them the extra star.

Regardless, I WILL return to this place. Especially because they have the FAMILY VALUE for $15 (1 lb. meat, 12 tortillas, 1 qt. beans, 1 qt. rice, and 1 qt. salsa) I believe. Just buy your own sour cream and guac, and you've got a party! No doubt, I will be back. Then I will update this review accordingly.

Who doesn't LOVE a family meal of 1lb of meat of choice, tortillas, beans, rice, and salsa for $14.99?! Honestly, I never knew a pint of beans was as big as it was. This fed my family for days. In fact, I might still have some leftovers in the fridge somewhere...not that we'll eat it but still. That $14.99 went a long way. And it was GOOD.

I hope this taqueria doesn't leave because no one is ever there when I go. That shopping area needs you to say, Taqueria Polanco. I need you, too. Because I have to try everything else on your HUGE MENU that I still just stare at every time I'm there! I've only had the epic family meal, cali burrito, pupusa, horchata...I didn't even make a dent in your menu yet. Not even a scratch. I'll be back soon.

Midday when the sun is shining- it shines directly in front so it's pretty hot inside. Regardless it's new, it's clean and the menu is extensssive! Burritos, tacos, fries, pizzas, hot dogs and sandwiches - I'm bound to find something here to my liking...

After a trip to Michael's I needed something in my stomach before I did some Target shopping. I got myself a Fried Shrimp burrito... and that's it. No chips. Yup, no chips - who does that? I guess Taqueria Polanco does.

It's only fitting I lost my pics of this burrito cause it was quite the disappointment. The rice a little too mushy, the shrimp not as breaded as regular fried shrimp usually is. Besides those two factors, any flavors I did taste meshed well but just didn't satisfy me like an El Farolito or Taqueria Guadalajara burrito would!

Again, I still would give this place another try... so I'm being very generous when I give it these 3-stars!

A taqueria in a suburban strip mall where the other dining options are Sizzler and Fresh Choice just has bad news written all over it... however, while Taqueria Polanco isn't the most authentic place, it's actually pretty legit.

Their burritos are as large as Chipotle burritos but tastier.  I've gotten a cali burrito and a chicken club burrito and they were both great, though the bacon in the chicken club was way too fatty.  The menu's got a whole lot of other stuff including sandwiches, hot dogs, and many more Mexican options.

From now on this will be my quick dinner stop whenever I'm making a Colma Target trip.

Soooo, I was expecting the food quality to be better which was evidenced by high ratings, but I didn't feel the same way :/

I feel kinda bad for giving a not so great rating (I really wanted to give 2) but the customer service was awesome & the owner's brother, Eduardo was very friendly & just so open minded (owner is brother, Enrique).

What's convenient is the location, just right there next to Colma Target. Haha you don't have to go to "La Mission," where all the bomb ass taquerias are at. Why I wanted to try this place out so badly is bc they had carne asada fries which is really hard to find. Been craving these, plus this dish originated in SoCal, Chula Vista, where I discovered it.

Also, they have the famous bacon wrapped hotdogs!!! Was so excited bc I didnt have to wait til 2am when the drunken, club heads come out & those mini food cart guys come out to make 'em....but dang it, it wasnt the same. Was SO overpriced.

Lastly, my mom was pissed about her 1 overpriced, non crunchy (no hard shells available), skimped out, 3 piece shrimp taco. Damn a hungry woman was pissed!!! Haha she opened the box to see a tiny tortilla with nothing on it. Just those 3 pieces of sad shrimp...

I'm sorry, I'm gonna have to try you guys out again. Still, my El Farolito is gonna stay the http://bomb.com

I did not expect much from a strip mall taqueria, but I frequent this Target and wanted to give this place a try.  To my surprise, it was pretty darn good!  I'm guessing it was the owner taking my order, and he was very friendly and seemed happy to be welcoming a new customer.  I liked feeling like I was supporting a small business (which I didn't really expect given the location), especially with the not-that-great Chipotle opening just across the parking lot.

I got my son a corn quesadilla, which was a bargain, and I got a super burrito with carne asada.  The meat was juicy and flavorful, and the rest of the ingredients were all fine.  Looks like a lot of people are hating on the no free chips.  Maybe the owner will read these reviews and change that.  I thought the prices for everything were reasonable.  I'll definitely be back.

Highly recommend this new taqueria! It is a combination of different taqueria styles and a great collection of some yummy favorites! Really...they have it all...including amazing California Nachos (fries, not chips) and Huaraches!! Haven't tried those yet, but if there anything like the things I've tried so far, they will be great! They get 5 stars for not just having yummy food, but for their extensive menu. You might not think to stop in when walking by to Target like I did, but so glad I did. I will be back!

I've been here several times now. It's a gem in a strip mall near target and Michael's in Colma. Lots of parking which is a plus. The first time i came I wanted to try something that you can't find at other taquerias. I had the Chile Verde Huarache. it was soooo good. The ingredients were proportioned so that you can taste all of the ingredients. It was fresh and tasty and neatly placed on the masa base.

On another visit i had carnitas super nachos. The chips were amazing. The chip were nice and thick and the carnitas was very flavorful. The last couple of times i had the Chile Colorado burrito. yum! They were big enough to take home and have lunch the next day.

Prices are very reasonable, the place is clean and the people are friendly. I will be returning soon!

Going to Taqueria Polanco has already become a weekly ritual for me since they opened a month ago.  They just have way too many things to try and so far everything I've had there has been really good!  Today I decided to go a la carte and ordered two Al Pastor Super Tacos and finally took the plunge to try their Mexican Hot Dog.

The Al Pastor Super Tacos ($2.50 each) were loaded (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).  They were so loaded to the point where it became a challenge to pick them up.  But me being the taco expert I am, managed to keep them together and they were pretty good.  Though next time I would probably opt for their regular Tacos.

I have been very curious about their Mexican Hot Dog since I thought that $5.25 for a hot dog was a little steep.  I'm definitely glad I picked one up.  Check out the Bacon wrapped goodness (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).  It was really tasty and it also comes with chips and salsa, so I think it's a pretty good deal for $5.25.  Plus, who doesn't love Bacon on their Hot Dogs?  The fact that I don't have to drive all the way out to the Mission anymore to get a Bacon-wrapped Hot Dog is an awesome plus.  I would definitely order another one or two!

I think all that's really left for me is their El Gigante Mega-burrito.  I'll eventually get to tackling it.  In the meantime, they've definitely earned their 5th star from me!!

Generally, you wont find good authentic mexican food in a strip mall but this place is the exception.

The tacos are made the way they are suppose to be, meat, cilantro and onion. Simple but delicious.  What is surprising is how fresh all of the ingredients are - from the veggies to the meat, its all fresh.  So far my favorie item on that diverse menu is a that jumbo Mexican Hot Dog. It doesnt really get much better.

Oh and not to mention that they take credit card! Super convenient
