Vancouver, BC
The best dining experience I have had in Vancouver to date. Amazing tapas (so of course a bit pricy), a fairly extensive wine list, and exceptional service.
Our hands-down favourite were the steamed mussels that were on special, although everything was fantastic.
After the service claimed that they "completely screwed up" our table a couple of times... there was a small speck in our wine carafe and we pointing out the salmon tasting off (and the server thanked us for pointing it out) we were given dessert at no charge.
Both crème brûlée and sticky toffee pudding were exceptional, but our server Johnathan and the floor manager we had nicknamed "Sinbad" are what guarantee our return.
Go. Go now. But make a reservation first.
--Also, be prepared for your mom to get emotional at the dinner table if you choose to bring her along. This place has that effect on her... or maybe it's just the wine. -

Tapastree offers casual dining, tapas-style with a West Coast flare. It's hard to go wrong choosing from their small-plates menu, unless you're on a budget. It's places like this that really make me wish I had a sugar daddy. You can try to just order one thing, like the Ahi Tuna seared with ponzu & hot Chinese mustard ($14), but it'll melt into your mouth so quickly you'll want more. And there are so many delights to tempt you on their menu!
It's a warm place with deep colours on the walls and white tablecloths. The wine list is extensive and features several choice local wineries. Blue Mountain, Kettle Valley, Poplar Grove, Joie, Orofino, Laughing Stock, Quails Gate, Stag's Hollow ... I could pretty much just photocopy their wine list and send if off to Santa. Or how about a bottle of Sumac Ridge Stellar's Jay Brut? A beautiful, fruity, peach-hued dry bubble is sure to make any occasion a special one. And yes, they have Burrowing Owl for you devotees, too.
It's quiet enough to make it a good place for conversation. It would be an appropriate spot to meet middle-aged parents, bring business associates for a casual dinner after a day of conferencing, have a classy catch-up session with friends or for a romantic evening with that special someone. -

First off, this restaurant has a fantastic wine list with reasonable prices to boot. Very solid thumbs up for whomever is responsible.
In terms of the food, the dishes were good but not great. Everything that came out was missing that little 10% extra that would have made it just a bit better...
That being said, the service was spot-on and the food came out of kitchen quickly. 4-5 plates for 2 people is good. -

Tapastree is a true neighbourhood gem, intimate and cozy, tucked away on the quiet side of Robson Street. As soon as you open the door, you'll be welcomed by a warm, inviting glow and enticing aromas.
Small plates are served here, with emphasis on local seafood and veggies. Tuna Tartare was my favourite dish: perfectly seared on the outside with a sesame-pepper crust, melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. The Tomato-Bocconcini salad was plentiful and fresh, and mushroom-goat cheese crostini was smoky and gooey. Surprisingly inexpensive, too, averaging about $12-15 per plate. We split 5 dishes between three of us and there was more than enough food for the table.
Wait staff is efficient and professional. My wine and water glasses were never empty. Small but adequate wine list. Dessert looked scrumptious although we were all too full to partake, save for a perfectly crafted single espresso.
Perfect for dates, a drink with friends, or a small party. You won't be disappointed.Listed in: Romantic Restaurants

I walked by this place one time and was more impressed with it's location than anything. It's kind of tucked away in a corner, quaint and unassuming. Awesome memories here ...
The food is tapa-style, West Coast dining. A bit on the pricey side for the size of the food? But I guess it's tapa style, so .. duh! We weren't really full after sharing a handful of plates, but I'd definitely come back again for special occasions. -

Vancouver, BC
Granted, it was the long weekend, but even on a Monday night, Tapastree was full. With a more laidback vibe, this place caters to a different crowd than some of its peers that focus more on the whole Vancouver scene than producing quality food and service.
Tonight we feasted on sautéed mushrooms on grilled herb toast with goat cheese, bruschetta topped with olives, some kind of duck confit, ahi tuna and... er... maybe some kind of salmon concoction. Everything was delicious, particularly the bruschetta, which is so simple to make but just as simple to ruin. Everything was washed down with a bottle of white.
Yes, it'll be hard to save room for dessert, be sure to do so. The sticky toffee pudding was divine and so worth skipping that last piece of bruschetta. -

Port Moody, BC
Pretty upscale atmosphere. You feel slightly uncomfortable walking in. They're right on top of you and trying to seat you before you explode from standing too long. The ribs are awesome. Marinated in hoise sauce or something. The place will bring you your food so fast you'll think it's being poured out of a can and cooked in the microwave. But it's far from simple. They serve a scallop and ginger dish that sounds rough, but it melts in your mouth. Apparently, a lot of the chefs in the city go to this place to eat... so that says a lot about it's food quality. You can totally tell it's an industry place by the way the chef will come out into the restaurant and greet certain people.

Another visit a couple of nights ago, for R's birthday. Once again, the antipasto platter was superb! Recommend one of their new cocktails - the Pan's Labyrinth, which despite the silly name is delicious: sparking wine, elderflower juice, and pear liqueur! Yummy.

I went here with my sister and brother in law for my birthday. Fabulous lamb and steak! I loved our server and of course the restaurant was buzzing. I highly recommend the haricot verts if it's on special; there is some magic spice in there that makes them undeniably the best green beans I've ever had.

This is one of my favourite places in the West End to go after work, sit and rad a book, have a few tapas and a glass of wine. My last visit was two dear and wild friends, so we started with martinis and a few bottles of wine. We shared the deep fried chicken, which was a little mistake because it was heavier than we expected, but the potatoes, asparagus and tuna sashimi were perfect. We also had green beans and a beef dish. All in all, the bill came to about $100 for three of us and we were very satisfied. In the summer, the patio perfect for people watching. It's quiet enough but still had energy.

Love this place! it is nice to get together with a friend for a drink. it is not cheap, but it is worth it. we celebrated a wedding of a friend and had a really good time. what I liked especially is their wine selection - some of the best in town.

Review from Robin A.
Romantic or not (your choice), definitely classy, with a small patio on the street for some great people watching. Daily specials add more choices to the already varied menu. Tapas are wonderful if you're one of those types that can't make up their mind about what to order. Don't miss dessert! It can get loud in there, so make sure you're not dining there for an event where you have to hear every word. My father-in-law told me after the meal that he only heard every other word I said. It was a Fri. night, and the volume rose as the people filled the tables. This place rocks!
