Got an itch for indian after a day of skiing?  I recommend Tandoori Grill.  It's not the cheapest (not much in Whistler is...) but boy is it tasty.

I had the Vindaloo (they let me tone it down from the standard uber-spicy) but dabbled in everyone else's dish as well.  Definitely take a look at some of the vegetarian options - even a meat-lover like me enjoyed them.  Friendly service and right in the village, Tandoori Grill will be on my list next time I'm in Whistler.

I didn't really "feel" like eating Indian at first when I was in Whistler.....but this place is AMAZING.  Cooks here are Indian, place is totally legit, loved every dish, made with lots of spices and full flavored really strong taste.  Service was top notch.  Price is great for Whistler.

$12.95 for an appetizer called 'Indian Snacks', which included a too much stuffed full of potato samosa (ONE SMALL ONE), some chopped up pieces of tandoori fish (uhh, this was not a kebab!) and some overdone on the outside pakoras. I think not.

This is Whistler and it's hard to find good cheap food as you would in Vancouver.

I heard great reviews about this place especially about its authenticity.  I was quite disappoinyed. The chicken may have been cooked in the tandoor, however judging by its rubbery texture it was probably done the previous day.

The servers were not attentive and I had to constantly inform them that I needed a beverage refill.

The food at this place was amazing!  Everything was delicious and wonderfully spiced.  The only thing keeping me from giving them 4 stars is that the food was quite slow to arrive and the dishes are small for the price.

Since we were a larger group, we ordered a number of dishes to share.  We LOVED the chicken tikka and the lamb korma, and their mixed pickle was an especially nice variety.  We did end up having to order a couple of extra dishes though, since the portions were quite small.  The wait staff were very friendly and ended up giving us some additional roti and rice at no charge because they felt bad that we had waited so long.

Urgh. The food took forever to come. But then the manager gave us some free vegetables to make up for the time -- even before we even had a chance to complain. Thanks for that.

However, the portions came small and were very expensive. I suppose the quality was fine, but for what it was, the food was very-very overpriced. Would I go back? Never.

Oh my... I cant even put into words how good the food is that I had here.  I can't say that I go to alot of indian restaurants.  Usually it is just some local buffet place where I get to look at the food before putting it on my plate.

When I sat down here I thought I was in trouble when they handed me the menu.  I remember thinking "uh oh... I don't know what anything I like is called"  To be on the safe side, I decided to keep it simple and order a few basic dishes. (Currey chicken and Vegetable Biryani)  I thought I was sacrificing whatever good they make here as a result since they have a lot more complicated things on the menu.

When we got our food, man did it knock my socks off!  The spices they used in the curry were excellent... both in selection and quantity.  (Note, it was spicy but not the hot kind of spicy...more of flavorful and balanced)

Then I tried the rice...."Oh sweet sweet mana from heaven"... I never knew rice could taste so good.  I could have had a whole meal of just the rice and been happy.  The rice was perfectly cooked (obviously) with a mixture of vegetables and spices.

When we were done with our meal we actually considered licking the bowl the curry came in as to not waste a drop.  (In hindsight... probably not a good idea but the food is so good it messes with your head)

I have only 1 regret after visiting Tandoori Grill...everything else I eat now is just so bland.

The food is authentic and very good, but they charge extra for rice. I've been here twice and they've made the same mistake twice - by adding paneer to a dish that normally does not have paneer. It wasn't stated on the menu either. They made it right both times, but they didn't seem too pleased about it.

If you're craving Indian cuisine and are in Whistler, this is the place to go. Not the best value, but that's pretty normal for Whistler.

I have eaten here many times with both coworkers and family. NEVER A BAD MEAL!!!!  Always excellent. This is my 4 year old daughters favorite restaurant in whistler now.   The menu is full of things to try for everyone young, old, vegetarian and meatatarian!!!   I suggest you try one of everything!!

I'm normally not a fan of lamb but this place cooked the best lamb kabob I've ever had from an Indian restaurant. The rest of the meat in their special grill was equally good although the portion was a little small for two people to split.  The garlic naan was not as soft as preferred and did not seem to have much garlic in it and a friend mentioned that the Vindaloo could have been spicer (or got 4 out of scale of 1-5 and it wasn't spicy at all).  Based on all the Indian places I've tried back home in the Chicago area this was a solid 3 with an extra star for excellent lamb.

I'm a big fan of Indian food, and was excited to try out this place. The food was delicious - we ordered butter chicken, chicken curry, and a vegatable dish, with rice and naan bread on the side and assorted appetizers to start.

However, the decor seems to be lacking something and the atmosphere didn't make for a great dining experience. The staff was friendly, but almost over-attentive, probably because there was no one else in the restaurant. I will definitely be ordering take-out from here, but would only go back to dine-in if I were with a large group.

The Whistler Tandoori Grill is on my list of favourite restaurants in Whistler!

I went to the Tandoori Grill in Whistler for the first time a couple of weeks ago with friends after a long day of work.

Atmosphere was nice and quiet so we were able to have a great conversation.  The servers and staff were very polite and impressive actually - they were there when you needed them, but didn't come around more than necessary!

The food was delicious, however I found the portions to be slightly smaller than I expected.  Prices are a little higher than expected as dishes don't come with rice or naan bread....

Fantastic Food!!!  I'm no stranger to Indian-style food; I've eaten it all over Asia and North America.  The Chicken Tikka Masala has a unique and wonderful flavor.  The Vindaloo is simple but extremely tasty.  It's one of the few places I've visited to serve Peshwari Naan, which is fantastic.

There's a full bar at the patron's disposal, which is nice.  The wine list is somewhat austere but still offers the basics, including some local B.C. selections.

The service is a little off by U.S. standards.  I asked for a glass of wine to be served with my meal and it never arrived.  I wasn't charged for it, so it was simply forgotten.  Also, when we arrived, it took several minutes for the host to greet us (he was nowhere to be found) but other than those two issues, no complaints.

The atmosphere is great.  There's a window through which you can observe the bustling kitchen and the large Tandoor ovens in action.

Bottom line is that the food more than makes up for any lapses in service.  I'm just sad that I ate there first.  Everything else will pale in comparison.

Five of us enjoyed our dinner at Tandoori Grill. Portions were a good size. You had to pay extra for rice, which I thought was a little ususual, but overall prices were good. Service was excellent. Unlike many Indian restaurants, you could not specify the level of "heat" in the dishes. But they were all nicely spiced and not too hot. I would eat here again.

I had cucumber salad, chicken curry, rice, nan, and mango chutney.  Everything was very good.  The service was friendly.  While it's not the very best Indian food I have ever had, it really is a fine place, and a reasonably good value (especially for Whistler).
