Fantastic Food!!! I'm no stranger to Indian-style food; I've eaten it all over Asia and North America. The Chicken Tikka Masala has a unique and wonderful flavor. The Vindaloo is simple but extremely tasty. It's one of the few places I've visited to serve Peshwari Naan, which is fantastic.
There's a full bar at the patron's disposal, which is nice. The wine list is somewhat austere but still offers the basics, including some local B.C. selections.
The service is a little off by U.S. standards. I asked for a glass of wine to be served with my meal and it never arrived. I wasn't charged for it, so it was simply forgotten. Also, when we arrived, it took several minutes for the host to greet us (he was nowhere to be found) but other than those two issues, no complaints.
The atmosphere is great. There's a window through which you can observe the bustling kitchen and the large Tandoor ovens in action.
Bottom line is that the food more than makes up for any lapses in service. I'm just sad that I ate there first. Everything else will pale in comparison.
The food is authentic and very good, but they charge extra for rice. I've been here twice and they've made the same mistake twice - by adding paneer to a dish that normally does not have paneer. It wasn't stated on the menu either. They made it right both times, but they didn't seem too pleased about it.
If you're craving Indian cuisine and are in Whistler, this is the place to go. Not the best value, but that's pretty normal for Whistler.

I'm a big fan of Indian food, and was excited to try out this place. The food was delicious - we ordered butter chicken, chicken curry, and a vegatable dish, with rice and naan bread on the side and assorted appetizers to start.
However, the decor seems to be lacking something and the atmosphere didn't make for a great dining experience. The staff was friendly, but almost over-attentive, probably because there was no one else in the restaurant. I will definitely be ordering take-out from here, but would only go back to dine-in if I were with a large group.
The Whistler Tandoori Grill is on my list of favourite restaurants in Whistler!
I went to the Tandoori Grill in Whistler for the first time a couple of weeks ago with friends after a long day of work.
Atmosphere was nice and quiet so we were able to have a great conversation. The servers and staff were very polite and impressive actually - they were there when you needed them, but didn't come around more than necessary!
The food was delicious, however I found the portions to be slightly smaller than I expected. Prices are a little higher than expected as dishes don't come with rice or naan bread....
Oh my... I cant even put into words how good the food is that I had here. I can't say that I go to alot of indian restaurants. Usually it is just some local buffet place where I get to look at the food before putting it on my plate.
When I sat down here I thought I was in trouble when they handed me the menu. I remember thinking "uh oh... I don't know what anything I like is called" To be on the safe side, I decided to keep it simple and order a few basic dishes. (Currey chicken and Vegetable Biryani) I thought I was sacrificing whatever good they make here as a result since they have a lot more complicated things on the menu.
When we got our food, man did it knock my socks off! The spices they used in the curry were excellent... both in selection and quantity. (Note, it was spicy but not the hot kind of spicy...more of flavorful and balanced)
Then I tried the rice...."Oh sweet sweet mana from heaven"... I never knew rice could taste so good. I could have had a whole meal of just the rice and been happy. The rice was perfectly cooked (obviously) with a mixture of vegetables and spices.
When we were done with our meal we actually considered licking the bowl the curry came in as to not waste a drop. (In hindsight... probably not a good idea but the food is so good it messes with your head)
I have only 1 regret after visiting Tandoori Grill...everything else I eat now is just so bland.
I had cucumber salad, chicken curry, rice, nan, and mango chutney. Everything was very good. The service was friendly. While it's not the very best Indian food I have ever had, it really is a fine place, and a reasonably good value (especially for Whistler).
Five of us enjoyed our dinner at Tandoori Grill. Portions were a good size. You had to pay extra for rice, which I thought was a little ususual, but overall prices were good. Service was excellent. Unlike many Indian restaurants, you could not specify the level of "heat" in the dishes. But they were all nicely spiced and not too hot. I would eat here again.
