Passing through to see the Niagara Falls, and wanted to get some sushi.
After seeing the reviews for this place I figured I'd give it a try.
From the outside, this place doesn't look very appealing. However, once inside it is a very cozy spot. We didn't have reservations but were sat right away.
We started with a miso soup and hot sake. And for our main course we got a Philadelphia roll and a Rainbow roll. They were all really good and the service was very prompt.
For dessert we got the fried ice cream. It was delicious and the perfect size.
If you're visiting and craving sushi, I'd recommend coming here for a good meal and a nice time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 7, 2019
The food here was amazing. I had a couple hours to kill so walked the 1.5 miles from my hotel here.
I loved the atmosphere and the genuine authenticity of the decor, menu, and setup. Plenty of drink options but you'll be blown away by the variety of appetizers and various sushi rolls to choose from and just a selection you can't find elsewhere. Like squid, pumpkin, and more.
They also have some delicious ice cream and green tea lattes.
Everything I had was amazing, and I honestly wanted more, but knew I shouldn't.
My only problem was the service was kind of slow. Food came quick, but after I was sat I wasn't greeted for several minutes and it took awhile for my waitress to come back to take food order.
But other than that, amazing all around.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2448041457Oct 1, 2018
I was so excited to come here based on the reviews and how close it was to where we were staying. My 5 yr old LOVES sushi so going to a Japanese restaurant is always a must when we travel. I was told the oolong tea was lightly sweetened... which means, not at all. And believe me, I am not a sweet tea drinker (I make my own teas at home so they don't taste like sugar water) but c'mon... lightly means lightly not non-existent.
The place was empty when we showed up around 2pm, and that should have been our first warning. Their miso soups are tiny servings and mostly onions with barely any tofu.
The waitress was very hard to understand and apparently so was my husband as she got his entire order wrong - even his drink order of the house wine. The specialty rolls are so big you can't fit them inside your mouth in one bite. I don't know about most people, but I like having ALL the ingredients of the roll in my mouth at once and not taking a bite from a roll, eating it in pieces instead. They charge extra for spicy mayo and ginger sides (which are small) and I could not wait to try some of the desserts... like the black sesame ice cream! I'd never heard of it.
Well, there's a reason for that. This is the first restaurant that serves that flavor. What does it taste like? Like the smell of burned sesame oil in a pan, and then licking the pan once it gets cold. Probably the most awful ice cream flavor I've ever tried in my life. I mean, SO BAD. Who eats that stuff?!
I wanted to try the Japanese jelly dessert but we were already $70 in at this point... so no. A total waste of $70. I so wish we'd just gone to Hooters for $20. Won't be back. Ever.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 37718678059Jun 7, 2017
Note: This review is based on my experience for lunch on a Saturday. So I cannot comment on dinner or dinner pricing.
A fellow Yelper + friend brought me here on our way to Buffalo and I was actually impressed. From the street, the building doesn't look like much. To be honest, it looks a bit abandoned, but it's a different story from the restaurant which is located on the second level.
(Friend comes here somewhat frequently because he likes it so much. He said staff and chef are actually Japanese.)
Since it's a Japanese restaurant, I wanted to try their sushi for lunch, so I ordered a combo that gave me a bit of 5 nigiri + 6 maki ($13), plus I upgraded my regular salad to a seafood salad for an extra $4 (small). The small size was quite generous portion, you could probably be full on just having a large seafood salad for lunch!
Food was good, sushi was fresh. My friend had some kinda Japanese Hamburg Steak with some grated radish on top. I tasted a bit of that and it was really good!
I rated this a full 5* due to the fact that there aren't many good sushi options in that area and it's great value. If you're in the mood for sushi and you're near the Falls, check this place out!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 23, 2016Updated review
Still as good as ever! This time, we ordered the sushi roll set for 4. It came with 4 salads (with their signature ginger dressing), 4 miso soups, 8 gyoza (pan fried to a delightfully crispy finish, although the meat on the inside wasn't that tasty), 8 shu mai (fish meat instead of the pork meat - loved it!), edamame, and 48 rolls (soft shelled crab, fried imitation crab, fried shrimp tempura, BBQ eel, spicy salmon crisp, spicy tuna crisp, spicy tuna crisp with shrimp, and california). Each roll type had 6 pieces, with the exception of the soft shelled crab which had 8. They actually gave us two extra pieces!
It was an absolutely filling and delicious meal! My favourite was the soft shelled crab. The California roll was also filled with fish eggs instead of the typical cucumber. My only complaint would be that there was way too much spicy mayo and the crisp. It made me really thirsty after!
We also got scallop sashimi as an appetizer. Their sashimi was so fresh, tender, and sweet! Loved it a ton. We also ordered ankimo (monk fish liver) and tried it for the first time. The taste is a bit fishy, but the onion, ponzu sauce, and scallions balanced out the flavours!
For dessert, we were given the option of ice cream or deep fried ice cream. Unfortunately, they didn't let us order their famous black sesame ice cream. I got the ginger ice cream, which lacked ginger taste and was full of candies ginger. It was super creamy and was a generous portion too!
The waitress was also super friendly and kind. Will definitely come again, but next time for its sashimi!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 22, 2016Previous reviewCame here at Christmas last year due to a Groupon offer. It was absolutely fantastic! A filling and authentic Japanese meal (with Japanese speaking staff). The waitress was so friendly and always kept a smile on her face and a positive attitude - in fact, we ended up giving her a generous tip at the end for her delightful service!
The food was amazing as well; the seared salmon, and salmon teriyaki was delicious. Meanwhile, the tempura was not at all oily, and ery light. My absolute favourite, however, was dessert. Almost everything was available off the dessert menu, and looking back now, I do regret choosing my black sesame ice cream. Don't get me wrong - it was super strong in black sesame aroma and creamy but not too sweet (in short, I loved it). However, the green tea creme brulee was an absolute show-stealer. It was perfect! - Jing O.Toronto, ON161410Feb 24, 2022Updated review
This place didn't close down because of the owner's retirement, it closed down because of shit service and shittier food.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 5, 2019Previous reviewworst restaurant ever!!!!!!!!!! this is the saltiest japanese restaurant i've ever tasted my entire life. the manager there is very salty too.
we went up to the restaurant, it looked really nice and it was really quiet cuz they barely got any customers. there was only three table during dinner hour, honestly it was sad.
we ordered miso soup at first, and let me tell you, it wasn't normal miso soup, it was miso soup + a big spoon of salt. my family and i all had a sip and thought maybe they made it wrong. so whatever we kept on eating other food (tempura was ok, the sushi were ok, but the sauces on them specialty rolls are salty salty and just salty)
my mom ordered a bowl of udon, and guess what!! the soup was so mf salty i had to call the waitress to taste it. the waitress did and admits that it was really salty and will return with a new udon.
now this part pisses me the most of. the manager lady who was around 50-60 and wore too much makeup came up with the same udon and said "there's nothing wrong with our food, it's our taste, the authentic japanese taste. if you don't like it then i'm sorry, you can just put hot water in the soup and tries to finish it." this bih gave me a fokin hot water cup, and lemme just say i laughed so hard. i've never seen any "authentic japanese" place had food this salty and service this bad.
i'm not a picky person this is my first yelp review. i've been to the best japanese restaurant but never been to a bad one. this place is a first. also i travelled to japan myself and tasted real japanese food. its nothing like this shitty place.
don't go if you have high blood pressure or suffering from obesity because this place's cholesterol level is beyond high and if you dont wanna die, dont eat here.Apr 25, 2019Previous reviewthis is the saltiest japanese restaurant i've ever tasted my entire life. the manager there is very salty too.

It's on the 2nd floor, not noticeable outside but quite spacious inside.
They have some special types of sushis, such as pumpkin tempura rolls, spicy lobster mayo rolls, etc. But they made them with too much rice. You could see there were two layers of rice outside of the seaweed rolls.
My boyfriend ordered salmon teriyaki combo and he was happy with it.
Service was good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David D.Sandpoint, United States64302209Oct 1, 2018
Totally Dissatisfied. I asked for a Cabernet and got Chardonnay. I asked for a cucumber with avocado roll on soy paper but she brought two rolls... a cucumber roll and an avocado roll after saying she couldn't do that... both were gross. My salad had more dressing than salad and needed a straw to drink. The lettuce wasn't washed and our waters were never refilled.
And if you want to feel like you licked the inside of a burned oven, try the Black sesame ice cream.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 875051646Nov 23, 2017
Very nice location, very close to Niagara Falls attractions. On site parking is a nice plus. Restaurant is on the second floor. Comfortable seating. We came for lunch on Thanksgiving Day (not a holiday in Canada). The prices for their lunch menu were very reasonable, a great value. Lunch comes with miso soup, salad and the entree. The miso soup was excellent. The inger dressing on the salad was delicious. The the entrees we each ordered different items and they were all very good.

I really hope they do well! Not much business when we stopped by for lunch on a weekday, but a really pleasant place with free wifi and many different seating arrangements available (traditional Japanese style, privacy curtains, regular seating, etc). We just had sushi so we opted for a lunch special udon as well as a bento fish box. There was so much food that came out! Everything was really very tasty and well done and with such reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend this place to get your cravings satisfied!
