Tail Blazers carries the Wellness-brand food that my cats adore (and is supposedly healthier for them than Fancy Feast, which they also adore). And they sell the large cans of Wellness for $3.20, which is about 30 cents more per can than at Bosley's in Victoria, BC, where i used to buy this cat food, But as Tail Blazers is within walking-ish distance from my house, I'm happy to buy this food there.
But Tail Blazers may be a little too health-oriented for its own good. They don't sell my cats' favourite brand of treats, Greenies. They also close at 5:30 on Monday, Friday and Saturday (and thankfully, they close at 7:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. And they are not open on Sundays.
But this store exists, and if it didn't, I would need to take a bus to get cat food (I am currently without a car). And this wouldn't make me happy. -

I've gone to several different locations of this store in the city. Great if you want good brands of dog food that are overpriced, or if you have your dog on a raw diet. Otherwise not a whole lot of variety, ambiance is lacking, and the focus on food (and some treats) rather than having a good variety of other pet items. I'd recommend to anyone wanting to go to a pet store other than Pet Smart in the city: just go to Pet Planet.

Tail Blazers is a great place to shop for your pet if you are one of those consumers who prefer small mom-and-pop businesses over megastores such as PJ Pets and Petsmart. Tail Blazers is a small but nicely stocked store. When it comes to buying organic food for my spoiled and fabulous cat, Tail Blazers is my number one choice. They carry a wide selection of natural and organic dog and cat food, both dry and canned. While browsing the store's selection, I noticed that most brands of dog and cat food are either American or,most importantly, Canadian, which is great in my book since I like to buy local. In addition to dry and canned food, Tail Blazers carries treats, vitamins, homeopathic remedies, shampoos and chew toys. The selection is not huge but sufficient enough. By the way, Tail Blazers is the only pet store in Edmonton where I was able to buy a hammock for my cat! Which brings me to the issue of customer service at Tail Blazers- the customer service is great! They put your name down in case you are waiting for a certain product to be in stock, they can special-order for you, and overall, they are very courteous. I reccomend Tail Blazers to all, and will certainly continue shopping there myself.
