Review from Matt K.
This is a 5-star taco truck. With yelp reviews, you have to keep the whole star rating system in perspective - I believe it's ok to have a 5-star steakhouse and a 5-star street food truck. I digress... This taco truck is best in class. I've been here numerous times and am always completely satisfied. I've pretty much had everything on the menu (basically different varieties of tacos) and really, you can't go wrong.
Taco is $2.50
Tostado is $3.00
Burrito is $7.00
With prices like this, a meal is just as cheap as taco bell, yet 100 times better quality!
Everything tastes so flavorful and fresh. The 2 guys who work the truck are really cool too. They help me try to learn Spanish which is cool! They're really fast and won't add sauces/sour cream without checking with you first.
My only complaint is they aren't open until around 8pm - but it is nice that they are open late, until around 3am. -

Dosage suggestion for adults:
For Hangover prevention, take two with water. May take more if excessive drunkenness continues. See a doctor if you have taken more than 6 and hangover persists for more than 24 hours.
The Al-Pastor was pretty darn good. After an awesome night of rubbing shoulders with yelp elites at Off the Blvd, this was a great way to end the night. However, I maintain that the al pastor I usually have at Los Portales (Astoria) is still my favorite!

I had a Taco Al Pastor...of course, pretty good flavor, size and price. But when you don't get it right off the spit it losses the char flavor that really makes it for me.
Next time I will get something to try, definitely nice to have a street taco truck near by. -

Hands down the best taco truck in all of Queens.

Review from Justin C.
went here after helping my friend move into his place in bayside. he paid, as a thank you to me and my other friend.
I got one beef, and one chicken, with everything, and jalapneos. the beef was just alright, but the chicken was pretty good. nice real taco, not a taco bell taco. and for $2 each, worth it. -

Really, I think the fact that there's an established taco truck that will deliver your yummy burrito to your door about says it all. This is the best taco truck in the area, likely the best in Queens and a good chance it's at least top five in NYC. They compare very favorably to some of the better burrito shops in the city as well. Yes, it's that good.
El Vagabundo is a block from the 40th St station and conveniently located outside The Courtyard Bar. They are very friendly, quick and eager to push things on you that you initially decline but inevitably need ("Are you really sure you don't need a fork?").
The trick is to grab your burrito on the way to one of the pubs in the area. That's the best of all possible worlds. -
Review from Nelson W.
Arguably the most reliable late night food option in Sunnyside. Great value and delicious tacos ($2.50) / burritos ($7) can be had for less than ten bucks or ten minutes. Located at the corner of 41st street and Queens Blvd, across CVS (now opened 24 hours), there is a worthy substitute for the famous halal and biriyani carts in midtown Manhattan.
The carnitas and chicken tacos (with everything on it) are personal favorities. The guacamole spread on top is simply the icing on the cake. Fulfilling for a quick dinner, and ultra-satisfying for a post-drinking gorge (especially the burrito). All for less than $8!
Moving to Queens feels that much more seamless.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Nothing special about the taco truck. The tacos work if you need a convenient quick bite. The tortas suck, especially with the gross cheese they put on top. Meat quality not great.

Great tacos! I've had my share of good Mexican food and this definitely compares. I was in the mood for something veggie so decided to try that and it was definitely one of the better veggie tacos and the tortillas were good as well. It's a mostly meat menu though so next time I will order from that. $2 for a hearty taco - can't beat it!

Two reasons to love the Lowery 7 stop.
1. It smells like a rollercoaster
2. It has a taco truck parked outside of it
If that's not inducement to move to Sunnyside, I don't know what is.Listed in: Sunnyside, Queens

This is the third and what looks to be the last review i'll be posting about this particular taco joint for this year.
The very first tacos I've had here were incredible. The juices, the meats, the vegetables were all in harmony singing my favorite songs.
But This is not the Tacos El Vagabundo I fell in love with. Now they taste like luke-warm vegetables with dry meat on top.
We cannot forever stay in the past. Time moves forward, and we must move with it. El Vagabundo once served very good tacos. But that is no longer true. And I've given several tries to this place wishing it'd be the way it was before, but to no avail.
Ever since after my first good taco came one disappointment after another. I do not have an explanation as to why there's such a huge drop in quality. But it certainly is a big letdown.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

The BEST taco truck!! ...unlike those Roosevelt ave ladies.. ugh.. they are so mean.
I discovered you a while ago after a night of drinking. Went back just to make sure my taste buds were not playing with us... now, even sober I enjoy these tacos!!
The guys are friendly, food is fresh.Listed in: places i LOVE

Best tacos in all of Sunnyside, and keep in mind, I am extremely picky when it comes to mexican food. Try a tostada de chorizo, or a steak taco. The guacamole is to die for. Nothing makes a taco better than a friendly staff who will happily serve you whatever you desire as you stumble through the streets of sunnyside very late at night!

I moved here from San Diego so I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to Mexican food. While friends were visiting during the Winter Holidays we were craving some good ol' Mexican fill me up and found Tacos El Vegabundo on yelp. Since I live a block away went ventured out to try it.
$2.50 a taco is a tag pricier than I care for. But all in all it's a good perk me up in the middle of the night. I regularly come back to get myself a Pastor (pork) or Mixtos taco. Two would fill a person up decently. The burrito isn't anything to advertise about. I didn't really love the pollo (chicken) or asada (steak) meats. Tasted a bit dry. The guy in the truck is always nice and remembers me and waves when I walk by.
Though I don't see myself being hooked and feel compelled to walk out here most nights to get myself a taco, this would be the place I'd trust to go if I wanted some good tacos that reminds me of home. -

I love this place with all my heart and soul. Crazy-delicious tacos and burritos. Super friendly, quick service. Open til all hours of the night. And all less than a block from my apt?? Amazing.

This is the best Taco Truck I have come across in all of New York. The guys are all super friendly, and their hours are roughly 8pm to 4:30am give or take a half hour.
The FOOD. Ever wanted to indulge in a 5 meat burrito? Step right up. They will mix and match anything you want. My top recommendation is to try the Chicken and Chorizo mixed together. The Cecina (salted beef) is better to me than the steak, just a better cut of meat. The chicken is amazing. Seriously. These guys know how to cook them some chicken. Tons of toppings, all included in the price. No wonder what you get, if you are a fan, don't forget to have them add lime. The salsas are spicy (in the best way), so having a little sour cream and lime goes a long way to cutting and balancing the flavors in your mouth.
Great both Drunk and Sober, highly recommended. -

The best tacos in NYC. This is the best taco truck ever and the guys are so friendly. Good portions for the price and everything is so fresh.
If you are having a taco craving then hit this place up around 8pm any night of the week. Man I want tacos now.... -
Review from Lauren W.
This taco truck makes me want to re-think my undying allegiance to Chipotle.
The good: everything! The sauces they put on the tacos are really awesome.
The not so good: the price! $2.50 for a tiny taco is a bit steep, even at 2 in the morning when I usually don't care about anything and just want a snack and bed.
But despite the price, its so awesome! -

Raul - sorry I've taken so long to Yelp your truck :)
I hang out at the Courtyard Bar sometimes and this taco truck is right outside - so I've been enjoying Raul's tacos for a few years now. Great flavor, kick your a$$ hot sauce, and a good selection of meats = cravings.
I'll usually get a few tacos or a massive quesadilla "mixto" with a few different meats. The latter is enough for two meals.
Order in English or order in Spanish - but go order :) -

The BOMB! The tacos are great and legit. Do not go to Arriba Arriba for tacos, unless you want to sit down in a nightclub scene that's overpriced.

Review from Lizz K.
My first experience with a taco truck was here and it remains one of my favorites! Conveniently located in front of Courtyard Bar, one of my old haunts. The meat is always perfectly seasoned, and veggies fresh and crisp. The tacos used to be $2 and a few of them along with a Jarritos served well as a quick, inexpensive dinner at times. Even at $2.50 it's quite cheap. The tortas are not my favorite as I prefer them at another neighborhood truck, but the tacos are where it's at.

Overstuffed tacos are worth $2.50 a piece, but the chicken was dry and poor quality. I like the truck guy's demeanor!

My favorite! Late at night, have a beer at the bar The Courtyard and order the "everything" burrito. Tacos are also good, but they discontinued ear and tongue tacos. Boo!!!!

Great tacos after a late night out! They're a little small, but very filling. These are some of the best tacos in the Sunnyside neighborhood.

Perfect, I'm drunk/getting home really late and everything is closed/I want greasy, spicy tacos sort of place. Although you can't see much from street level, what you can see looks clean. They're super fast, and reasonably priced. I go with the chicken tacos. The hot sauce is hot!!! On a few occasions I've had to cool down my lips with yogurt. No joke. Only complaint is that the "guacamole" is actually a watered down avocado sauce, although it is still tasty.
The same couple of guys have been working at this truck for the 3 years I've lived in Sunnyside. Plus, they always call me "bonita", so I guess they've won my loyalty with their tacos and charm.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Among Taco Trucks in Queens this one stands out for one reason:
Service.
They are always really nice and friendly. They recognize you if you live in the 'hood. Beyond that everything is pretty standard for a Taco Truck. Good flavors, quick food and the prices are consistent among Sunnyside and Woodside now. I know people are complaining about the price of a Taco. When I was a kid it used to be $2 but that was over a decade ago... Gas prices have gone up and they do work in a Truck! -

Delicious street meat. I love to stop by this place after a late night at school or the bars. I usually order the chicken tacos or the torta de carnitas, always with plenty of jalapenos. The owner is crazy friendly and always says hello when I'm walking home from the train.

One of the best things about Sunnyside is this Taco Truck. All I have to say is Tostada, Tostada, Tostada....YUMMY!!! This has to be the best thing to eat at 2am when I am either coming back from the city or coming back from a local Sunnyside bar. You know you are a regular customer when they see your face and already know your order, that is an added bonus. The guys are super nice and even when I am passing by at night not getting a Tostada they still wave hello. Simply The Best!!!

OK, I might be sentimental as this was the fist time I had ever eaten out of a taco truck. I was at the Courtyard Bar with a couple of friends last summer and after three to many we needed to eat. Walked outside and lo and behold, figured it can't be any worse than White Castle up the Blvd. Man, was I not disappointed, first thing I ordered was a Tor ta (Mexican Sandwich) got a chicken one and it was delicious! The bread was fresh with a firm outside but nice and soft on the inside. Chicken was cooked fresh and nicely marinated with some onions and cilantro, add some re fried beans a little cheese. Needless to say I didn't stagger up to White Castle that night or any other when I'm down that way. Oh, the guys that work there are super nice to boot!

Still love 'em. Super moist and delicious Carne Asada, excellent el pastor, everything is usually very fresh and top notch. Sometimes if you end up there TOO late, you might be left wanting in terms of the quality, but that is a rare, rare occasion. The price recently went from $2 each to $2.50 each for tacos, but they're still a bargain. The Torta sandwiches are great from what I've heard, but I've yet to pry myself away from the Tacos. The pickled jalapenos come highly recommended if you like it hot, but don't say I didn't warn you.
