I got out of work yesterday, all set to ride home, only to find that my back tire was flat. Not just low and leaking air, but completely flat. A quick seach on my iPhone revealed that Sweet Pete's was the closest bike shop, so off I went. They had a new tire on my bike within 15 minutes and also adjusted my back fender so that it no longer rubs my tire. Great, quick service and a good price too!

I had a fantastic experience at Sweet Pete's!

I should stop here to tell you that I don't speak bike. I ride to and from work every day and I spend a lot of time on my bike, but that doesn't mean I understand how all the different gears and bits come together. So bike shops intimidate me.

What a relief it was to be greeted by a friendly, approachable woman who seemed to know absolutely everything about bikes, locks, and lights and who was able to share all of the knowledge with me without once sounding condescending or making me feel foolish. Seriously. She was amazing. From helping me find the correct size frame (I'm just wee) to discussing the relative merits of various locks, she was a wealth of knowledge.

Once I'd fallen for the bike and chose my lights and bells, she installed everything for me like it ain't no thang. Paying was equally painless. When my fella pointed out that the bike was listed at $20 less on the website than in store, super woman quickly checked the website to confirm and then gave us the lower price. No attitude.

I'm almost looking forward to returning for the first of my four free tune ups.

Sweet Pete's Bike Shop located at 1204 Bloor Street West is a pretty great shop for all products relating to bicycles.   It is not just a clever name.  They appear to have an excellent vast selection of bicycles and moderately priced bike accessories.   They have a tech/repair centre with very helpful staff at the back of the store.  Sweet Pete's staff is very friendly and obliging.  They are not ostentatious and they offer you many options to accommodate your needs.  The staff attempt to go above and beyond your typical customer service requirements and they are strong advocates for the bicycle subculture.  Whether you are a new rider or a seasoned cyclist, Sweet Pete's is where it's at.  But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle made for two=)

I highly recommend this bicycle shop!

But make um understand its Westside foe life
Thanks so much for your time

Sweet Pete's was a bit intimidating when I first went in.  The staff seemed really cool.  Too cool for me.  However, there was a mountain bike that I loved, and I went in and scoped it out for a couple of months - humming and hawing and trying to convince myself that I needed this bike.  Eventually, I just couldn't justify spending that much and ended up buying a lower end, but still very nice, mountain bike down the street at Broadway cycle.  Sweet Pete's had similarly priced bikes to the one I purchased, but I couldn't let the bike I really wanted see what I was doing.

I did end up buying my road bike here after looking all over the city.  The staff are very knowledgeable and I really liked their brand selection (kona, giant and trek as well as some other speciality brands).  Also, Broadway cycle, which I think has better service and prices, didn't have a bike in my size.

I got my road bike tuned up here earlier this year and they did a good job.  The service department is very busy, especially in the spring, so it is worth calling ahead and making an appointment.

Broadway has a way better service deal for new bikes than Sweet Petes.  Broadway will service a bike you buy there for 5 years for free.  Sweet Pete's offered the first tuneup for free then you are on your own.

I went with my dad to cancel my mom's bike, and get a refund for her because she just didn't want to get on a bike that reminded her of this whole unpleasant thing.

The woman who was rude to my mom was still there, and unhelpful with some unpleasant attitude. So Brent came over, was very apologetic, very professional, and listened to us and gave us our refund. He was great.

I'm sorry that my mom had to deal with the unhelpful employee, if she hadn't she probably would have been better able to deal with the other mistakes made in ordering her bike.

So I'm re-rating my review: positive, pleasant, helpful service is possible at Sweet Pete's if you look for Brent and avoid the young female employee with long dark hair.

These guys are awesome! I stopped in a few weeks ago to look at bikes and while I didn't end up buying anything, I was really impressed with the service and prices. The two guys helping me (Owen and someone else whose name I can't recall) were knowledgeable, patient and friendly. When I needed something for the bike I did buy, they were my first choice and again, I got great service without any pressure or attitude. Really nice people running a really nice bike shop!

Sweet Pete's is probably one of, if not my absolute, favorite bike shops in Toronto.

Their service department has always treated me well, their bike selection is good and reasonably priced.

This would be a 5-star review except for 2 things:
-Don't go there for clothing - stupid expensive
-One of the sales staff who's there frequently, a short doe-eyed young lady, I find really ambivalent and less than interested in giving a good customer service experience

Sweet Pete's is my go to spot for all things bike related. They have a decent selection of bikes in various styles (mountain, road, fixed, kids, etc.) and from most of the mainstream brands (Kona, Trek, Giant, Gary Fisher, etc.). It's more of a general bike shop rather than a specialist in any particular style of bike.

A good selection of of parts, clothing, and accessories are also on offer. Prices are competitive and staff are really friendly and helpful, you'll never be pushed to buy something you don't need.

The service department has some really good mechanics and is generally excellent. Unfortunately, there has been a couple times when I haven't been so happy with their work. Not sure if this is because some of the mechanics aren't as good as others or if it's because they're just rushing. Service is usually good though.

We arrived at Pete's in a bit of a fury. The most beautiful day of the year to date and my bike was still up North at my parents'. Oh what an amazing day for biking it would be, yet I was bike-less. I desperately yearned to renew this ancient pass-time in my new downtown home. What was a girl to do?

And then there was Sweet Pete's, in all its glory. After scouring some of the bike shops along Bloor, we found it, this amazing emporium of four-wheeled beauties, some of which, we learned were for rent.

For 15.00 per half day, I rented a fantastic sleek black road bike and oh did I cycle. Over two days (I came back the next day, having had way too much fun), we did about 75km and saw some great Toronto neighbourhoods, from Roncy and Parkdale to Leslieville, Cabbagetown and The Beaches. Cycling along the Lakeshore was serene. We even met up with members of the Yelp crew on their tour of East End coffee shops.

This city was made for cycling.

Sweet Petes is a great shop. Owen who runs the sales team in the front is honest, and helpful. Shaun in the back, does solid repair work and gives the straight answer on what needs to be done. I highly recommend this store.

AMAZING shop. So fresh and clean, saw the most amazing bike I've ever seen in my life. Have plans to buy it to cruise around this summer in when I move down. So happy with the service of this place and quality.

I hate to have to do this and update my review but after 2 consecutive service department failures I'm less enthusiastic about this place.  They have a good sales department and are helpful if you are looking for a new bike, but I will not use their service department again. The quality of work is fine but the attention to detail is lacking.  My last 2 visits have both ended in me having to go back to point out very obvious mistakes in their work. It's too bad b/c I like the guys in the shop, but I'm not interested in driving across the city multiple times to deal with mistakes and misses.

I popped into Sweet Pete's Bike Shop for the first time this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The sales staff were helpful - despite the store being packed on the first warm weekend of the summer - and the service guys were kind enough to swap out my husband's pedals for free. The selection was good with a range of prices and styles. Any kind of cyclist can feel at home here, I think. I love that I live around the corner and can go back often.

This store gets bonus points for the adorable friendly half beagle-half pug dog. I'm not even a dog person but this little fella won me over. ok but down to business, this place has great, friendly service and a wide selection of bicycles. They've got all kinds of accessories as well. Their price range is good too. I saw an upright Giant for $399. Not too shabby!

I just moved to Toronto and had to ship my bike across from the states.  Sweet Pete's was very helpful in receiving, rebuilding, and giving my bike a nice tune-up.  I don't think I'll be living near Pete's, so I don't know how often i will go back, but i very much appreciate their helping me make my move a bit easier and will certainly recommend them to others.
