I do NOT have a sweet tooth (I'll take the cheese and olives any day), so when I recommend dessert you'd better take note.

This place does ONLY cheesecake and every single one I've tried here is kill-worthy.  I'm not a chocolate afficionado (like it well enough but nowhere near enough to even dare post reviews about it) but I am passionately assured that the gazzilion choco options, from Kit Kat to Smores, are top-shelf fabulous.

For me, though, the velvety, sweet-tart punch of the mango cheesecake, topped with a decadent raspberry coulis, reigns supreme.

Enjoy with a Laughing Whale coffee in the bonkers-yet-beautiful black/hot pink/gold-gilt interior that looks like something Kurt from 'Glee' dreamed up while having a Marie Antoinette crack-hallucination (that's a good thing).

Wow, I am not a sweets fan, but I have been converted all thanks to Sweet Hereafter.

My first experience was a few weeks ago when after work, a coworker and I went to use up a Groupon that she had purchased being it the last day that she could use it. We both got a slice of the most amazing, mouthwatering cheesecake I have ever had in my life and a cup of coffee. The server was friendly and dependable and checked in on us during our visit, the coffee was unexpectedly good, and did I mention it was the best cheesecake I have ever had in my life?

My second chance to indulge in this treat was at the Yelp's First Burstday where there was a table with tasting portions laid out for us to try. When I walked in to see the food tables, I gravitated straight to the cheesecake and didn't want to leave.... my boyfriend actually had to pull me away. I'm still having dreams of it and now that I've been yelping about it, I'm going to have to make a plan to revisit this spot again very, VERY soon.

Last night my husband and made a trek over the bridge just to try a slice of the cheesecake we have been hearing so much about. Let me tell you it was worth the bridge fare!
There was a lovely selection of cakes in the display case and at least two more on the way out of the kitchen even though it was 9:30 at night.
We were greeted by pleasant smiling faces which, let's face it, is even more rare at that hour.
We sat while we waited for our cakes, hubby had a vegan chocolate with a glass of milk. I had turtle with a hot chocolate to drink.
While I waited I got to take in the awesome decor.  A total diva dream come true. If I didn't live with hubby I would decorate my house JUST like that.
When my cheesecake arrive I was giddy with delight, the presentation was perfect and I loved the added little chocolate tiara. Nice touch!
The cake was so delicious and rich. I actually couldn't finish my piece and had them wrap up my last two bites to come home. Yeah two bites were worth it.
While we were paying up we chatted with the staff who who super helpful and friendly.  I loved them! We will being going back 110% for sure.

There are times when I love Yelp (okay those times are pretty much from 12a - 11:59p on a daily basis but stick with me on this train of thought). Times like yesterday when my wife and I were hankering for something sweet to partake in and not sure where to go. I turned to my trusty yelp mobile app and typed in the word "dessert"...

Oh dear Yelp Mobile App how you were so good to us as you directed us to this delicious place the "Sweet Hereafter". The first thing I noticed on the yelp page was Ben's review and since I am sort of crushed out on this manly goodness after my first cashmob I knew that if Ben loved this place, then so would my wife and I.

    We were not disappointed.

We decided to ditch the car and walk the 1.2 miles (or 1.9 km for my Canadian friends) over to Quinpool (because when you are going to eat cheesecake/cupcakes you really should walk to help burn off the calories).

Here are some of things I love about Sweet Hereafter:

    1. The decor: fun fun fun....oh and fun!

    2. The photobooth: I could have stayed there for quite a bit trying on all the different costume combination and having my picture taken. Talk about an instagram party!

    3. The service: granted we went very early in the after so not too many people to contend with (in fact, we were all alone) but I suspect that if the place was packed they would be just as friendly.

    4. The cupcakes: Confession - we knew that we were going to share one for the walk back but we couldn't decide on which one so we got all three that they were offering. Pink, Red and Chocolate (I'm not very good at remembering the flavors)! All delicious and the perfect size for sharing!

    5. The cheesecake: We were hoping that we would be able to get a slice of the peanut butter / chocolate but that was not being served at the moment (oh darn another reason to go back!). Instead my wife opted for the chocolate raspberry while I went with a slice of triple berry. After waiting for the first sugar buzz to dissipate we grabbed our forks and took part in the cheesecakeryOMGness. I'm not much of a cheesecake person but after having a slice from the Sweet Hereafter, you can bet I will go back again and again...

After a lot of walking of course!

Oh and if you needed another reason to check this place out, they offer gluten free and vegan delicacies... seriously people, this is a must try place!

It is with great consideration that I write this five-star review. After months of grueling research -trip after trip to Sweet Hereafter for cheesecake, cupcakes, coffees, teas, and sodas - my tired and weary mind is finally able to collect its thoughts.

This adorable little hideaway on Quinpool Road has seen far too much of me. Whether I've crawled in unshowered and ordered Red Velvet cheesecake for lunch, trekked in with friends before a movie at the Oxford for a slice of chocolate peanut butter, or sheepishly took two slices of Oh Henry to-go (and not to share), the owners have been nothing but welcoming and delightful. Also of note, they don't seem to judge no matter how much cheesecake you consume, and at what hours of the day you consume it. This is important.

The décor is everything you want of a place that specializes in rich, delicious cheesecakes. Between the pink accents, the patterned wallpapers, and sparkly chandeliers, there's always something to look at - and that's without even getting into the hanging photobooth where you can work out that sugar rush. It's cozy but there's definitely room for groups. I'd just suggest calling ahead to make sure they know you're coming.

As for the cheesecakes, they're unreal. Not only are they perfect no matter what niche flavour floats your boat, they're also accessible for all of your dietary-needy friends. Need a vegan slice? Done. Need something gluten-free? Easy. Need something vegan AND gluten-free? Yep - they can do that too. Keep this in mind for party planning! I've had at least eight different flavours (without even counting the delicious cupcakes) and have yet to be disappointed. I have a problem.

Want to kick it up a notch? They do a cheesecake fondue. Think about it.

Sadly, there's no liquor license but I think a lot of that has to do with neighbourhood restrictions. Luckily, you can get your cocktail on at nearby places (may I suggest Seasons?) and then drunk-eat your fill of sweets. Otherwise, their Laughing Whale coffee is ridiculously good. It's a little splurgey at about $12-13 for a slice and a coffee, but you won't question the cost after that first bite.

    Go and getcha some.

$8 a slice, but definitely worth it - though you may want to share your cake, simply for the sake of not collapsing in the parking lot. Tried the Snickers Bar cheesecake (fantastic) and GF Coconut Lime, both completely stellar. Sweet Hereafter is also open late. Even better! If you haven't gone, give it a shot. Support (delicious) local businesses!

So I've written much love for Sweet Hereafter over the net. You can
find my blog post here: http://asheleyeats.com...

I haven't been back to stuff my face full of cheesecake since the Yelp
event but I full well intend to! I absolutely love the work they are
doing with the different flavors as well as grabbing my attention on
    twitter.

I'm dying to try a piece of chocolate hazelnut. Goodness gracious me.
I can see Sweet Hereafter continuing to do great for years to come.

    Go check it out!

Not many new businesses get the experience down really, really well early on in the game, but Sweet Hereafter is the exception to the rule. I am so excited about this place, that I tell everyone I know about it, I swear.

What's so awesome about this biz? Well, for starters the proprietors know how to serve up an experience that's creative and decadent. The decor adds a rich and fun feel, and because the choices of cheesecake are constantly changing, you'll want to engage with them online, as their Facebook and Twitter pages will keep you in the loop on whatever new flavours are becoming available.

The big winner for me is that they've figured out how to do a vegan cheesecake really, really well. There's always an option on hand, and not only does it look just like a real cheesecake, they taste phenomenal. Seriously. Additionally, they do have GF options for the crust, so if your a DF, GF, or vegan person, there's likely a treat you can really enjoy. Most recently, I had a slice of Chocolate Hazlenut, a creation that was the suggestion of one of their vegan customers. Thank you, fellow cheesecake lover, because it was absolutely delicious!

Although the liquor laws keep this place a dry venue, they have some fantastic teas, coffees and a delicious house-made green tea lemonade that is really fantastic.

I haven't had an occasion to splurge on a full sized take-home cake yet, but I already know exactly what I want for my next birthday. Yuuuum!

I really couldn't wait to write about this place. I visited this evening with a friend and though I am still feeling the effects of a (blissful, cheesecake induced) food coma, I needed to share how awesome this place is.

The service was amazing- hands down the best I've had in Halifax. I felt like I was having tea and cake in an old friend's (very fancy) sitting room, not a restaurant (cheesecakery?) .

I'm a big fan of the decor too- kind of boudoir, meets club, meets Gothic, meets awesome.

But really, the standout above all else, was the delicious cheesecake.

Pure perfection. I had a slice of cookies and cream, my friend tried the Oh Henry. Both were phenomenal. I almost got a piece of vegan Oreo cheesecake- it looked that appealing. For reals. Who knew.

Anyway, while I don't think my waist line can accommodate frequent visits here, it was sure a decadent treat and will be high on my list of places to check out again.

It's a shame the liquor laws on Quinpool are so backward- this place would be even more awesome than awesomesauce if I could enjoy a nice glass of wine along side of my cake. A girl can dream.....

    Umm...I'm pretty much in love.

Not only do you get the great VEGAN and GLUTEN free options but its also so light you don't feel like you ate your weight with just one piece.

The staff are awesome, so creative, up for suggestions and might use you as a guinea pig once in a while (pft who wouldn't want to be one for cheesecake?!)

I plan on crossing each cheesecake off my list, even if my waistline has to suffer for it!

My family and I are cheesecake fanatics.

My little sister for example, constantly invents and re-consititutes cheesecake recipees from time to time and has us as her taste testers.

So after hearing about this place, the siblings and I went to the Sweet Hereafter to test the waters albeit with a bit of skepticism.

I have been there a few times now. Every time has been pure pleasure. We are a family that shares. After all sharing is caring right?

We also brought with us a few friends. Which is a good because we would order 4-5 different cheesecakes based on what was available at the time and try eachothers dish.

The cheescakes are of immaculate quality and the variety is always rotating its never the same old selection and appropriate as well in that there is always a cake for someone.

My favorites so far have been the Apple Country (name?) and the Peanut Butter Chocolate cheese cake (with raspberry sauce). The constituency and thickness of the core of the cheesecake is important. This is what makes a good cheesecake from one that is just grainy, too sugary or stiff. Or sometimes you get cheesecakes that are devoid of flavour. This is never the case at Sweet Hereafter.

The decor is sublime, I often think it looks like a the backdrop of (insert your favourite rnb singer) a music video. Its classy but fun. The price is ridiculously cheap. I think its too cheap for the quality if you ask me...this place is worth every penny. My bill was around $10 with two cups of coffee and a slice of cheesecake, taxes in.

The only regret is I wish they had a liquor license because nothing beats eating cheesecake with a nice glass of white wine.

The coffee and teas are great tho...and the host(s) are always amazing, appreciative and obviously proud of their establishment.

Please support this heavenly little place and make sure it endures...its a favour to all of us...

The staff at Sweet Hereafter are the best! I recently celebrated my birthday there with some friends and not only did we close the place out but were testers for the next up and coming flavour!

The cheesecake fondue was amazing, great value, nice variety between flavours and chocolate!

I didn't know this place existed until a friend suggested going after dinner at Blue Olive.  It was tough selecting from the variety of handmade cheesecake options but after much deliberation I decided on the Irish Chocolate Cream, and it was amazing. My friend tried the gluten-free Neapolitan, and it was also delicious.

It was great to chat with the owner, Colin - he's very engaged with all of his customers, and even when there were more people than seats, he was making sure everyone was having a good time.

They are also having live music on Thursday nights, and the two musicians that were playing last night were great. A very cool dessert spot, overall.

2.5 stars. I have been waiting to check out this place - especially after I learned the building with the pretty columns on Quinpool was the Sweet Hereafter. I love upscale dessert locales and the decor of this place is perfectly done (think rich fabrics and modern upholstery with bling) and would be great for a date. I got a slice of cheesecake to go and the service was very friendly. However, the cheesecake was quite pricey and did not wow me at all. The crust was probably the best part. I love that they are trying to make healthier cheesecakes and maybe I just chose the wrong one. The kit kat cheesecake had some strange layers of white stuff that was an odd texture and did not add anything to the dessert, and I did not find there to be a rich chocolate flavor. At over $9 a slice, you are better off buying a whole cheesecake at the Sweet Hereafter (~$27) or going some place else.

What does a girl have to do to get some lactose-free cheesecake up in here? As it turns out, not much. She just has to head down to the Sweet Hereafter and choose from the selection of absolutely divine vegan (no animal products = no dairy = no lactose) cheesecakes. Chocolate peanut butter? Yes. Maple Pumpkin with the most singularly delicious crust I've ever tasted on any cheesecake ever? Don't mind if I do. In addition to providing an outstanding product, the Sweet Hereafter also provides excellent service. The staff is friendly and the owners are lovely. If there was an option to give it 6 stars, I would.

Love the girly, decadent decor of this place! Love the display case - A MUST HAVE if you really want to own your niche as a dessert spot, in my opinion. There are vegan options, a wide selection of cheesecakes in the case at any given time, they do a nice job plating your slice, and they have coffee and tea to offer along with it.

I had the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake and it was to die for - literally, after trying to make my way through the entire big slice, its richness came over me in a big wave of sugar coma goodness and I thought I was going to pass out. But I guess, anything you're willing to eat yourself sick for must be good?

The only possible downsides, that I can see, are that they aren't licensed, and only have cupcakes as a cheesecake alternative.

I hope they last and I agree with Cait K - it'll make for an awesome place to visit after a skate on the oval!

While I haven't eaten in, I purchased a groupon for a cheesecake. I called in 24 hours in advance as required and service over the phone was friendly and very efficient. I stopped on the next day and the cafe is decorated as a cross between a tea room and a lounge, beautiful in an Alice and wonderland way. My cheesecake was ready and I was on my way home in no time flat.

The cheesecake is small but filling so a little goes a long way, it served six for dessert and there was a small slice leftover. I ordered the classic NY style and it was delicious, a hit with everyone and my mom has already requested one for her birthday.

They are a little expensive bit worth it for a cheesecake fan. I look forward to trying more flavored.

Yes it is a bit high for a slice of heavenly Cheese cake but its money well spend. My wife got the groupon deal a few months back but we never did come around to use it until a month back. She got the raspberry mango and I, the tripple choc. It was absolutely delicious. I am not a fan of cheese cake but after tasting them from this shop, I got converted almost immediately. We've been back to the shop again since then to try out the other types. If you are around the area and would like to have a sip of lunenberg coffee with the cheese cake to go with it - try Sweet Hereafter. I believe most people would love it.

After spending time in cities where dessert-focused cafes and restaurants are commonplace, I realized that Halifax is lacking in this department. Enter the Sweet Hereafter... This cafe sneakily showed up in the main part of Quinpool, conveniently located for an after-dinner stroll from the surrounding residential neighbourhoods. The focus is cheesecakes and they do them well. You order at the counter and the desserts and beverages are brought to the table in style on white tray. The atmosphere is simultaneously subdued and informal but fancy and refined due to the decor. I had the maple pumpkin which was drizzled with a tasty spice-flavoured sauce and served with whipped cream (of course). It was a nice creesecakey consistency without being too dense. My friend had the chocolate orange which was also really good. The crust wasn't as crunchy as it could have been but otherwise everything was to our liking. The server was very friendly and the music contributed to a cozy atmosphere. If they make a dairy-free option I will definitely try it. It was a bit quiet the night we went but I can imagine it being a fun place when it fills up with chatter.
