Absolutely adddoooorreee this little bake shop!

Where my other favorite dessert shop Ganache is all that is chic & elegant, Sweet E's is all that is adorable and oh-so-lovely! I am obsessed with their miniature desserts as I am very big on variety when it comes to my sweets. My favorites have to be their mini lemon meringue pies, blueberry cheese cakes, and chocolate brownies.

Oh and did I mention their cupcakes are to die for? Seriously, that's a pretty big statement coming from me because well....awkward pause...I sorta hate cupcakes. I know, I know...who hates cupcakes?!! Well the cupcakes of my past have largely been of the dense dried bricks crowned with diabetically sweet icing variety. The cupcakes here could not be more different! They are fluffy and moist, not too sweet, with a perfect airy whipped topping.

Also, they make great cakes for special occasions. Take a flip through their albums to see some of the amazing cakes they've done for weddings, birthdays, etc...I was most impressed by their children's cakes, some of which were too cute for words!

When I was working in Kerrisdale, I tried almost everything on the menu. I would come to this little shop at least once a week to let them take my hard earned money. Things here were and still are 'yikes' expensive but they were worth every penny.

Their cakes were good. If I felt like eating something light, a Black and White cake usually does it. If I wanted something intense, I go with Chocolate Butterscotch Pecan Cake. If I needed my dose my chocolate, the dilemma would revolve around either Chocolate Silk Cake or Flourless Chocolate Cake. I tried their Lemon Meringue Cake and I was not a fan. The meringue was too eggy for my taste.

I had pretty much all flavors of their truffle pops. My favorites were butternut scotch pecan and Frangelico hazelnut (peppermint was interesting too). Their pops were oh so rich and smooth. During the financial crisis in 2008 I turned to this shop and sought comfort here. If it's not for the shop, I could have easily become an alcoholic (daily screaming from clients/advisors can make anyone more than just a little coo coo; also having the liquor store located at the foot of the building didn't help either).

In terms of tarts, Bourbon Pecan Tart and Coconut Cream Tart were both good, but Banana Caramel Cream Tart was even better - a must try. I remembered buying one to try and after I swallowed it, my impulse told me to go back and get another one. And no, I didn't. That'd look too embarrassing.

I was and still is not a fan of cookies so the only cookies I tried were gingerbread cookies (only available during Christmas), ginger crunch, lemon crunch, and decorated sugar cookies. I once bought a bag of chocolate chip cookie mix to bake at home. They turned out great but too sweet.

I think Sweet E's has good selection of treats and they use good quality ingredients and all. I see it as my puppy love. I was young, I tried them, and I felt in love with them. Now that I am older, my preferences evolve. Regardless, Sweet E's, thank you for being my first true sweet love.

    I love this place!

I've ordered about 4 cakes from here and each one has been amazing. The lemon meringue cake is by far my favorite and I will definitely be ordering it again. Its really hard to walk away with just a cake though, everything in the cake is always so cute and drool worthy, I always end up getting 4-5 mini desserts and a bunch of macaroons. The macaroons by the way are wonderful! Much better than the ones at Thierry and other most bakeries in Vancouver. As for a mini desserts its really a hit or miss at times. Though they look so great, some of them really lack in the taste department.

I read reviews on Yelp about this place and decided to try it on Fathers day. We purchased the Black and White cake, blueberry mini cheese cakes, pecan tarts and mini chocolate Cupcakes. Everything was excellent especially the black and white cake.

    Highly recommend!

    Cheers!

A sweet bakery that borders on mediocre. Somehow, the bakery's cuteness feels forced. There are just too many bite- sized pieces, but only a few normal sized desserts. A good selection of mini pastries but only 1 chocolate cake and 1 cupcake.
Out of the 6 bite- sized desserts that we bought, our taste buds were only impressed with one.
The pumpkin pie, our favorite, has good flavors without being overtly sweet. The apple crumble, macaroons, and lemon meringue was mediocre and sadly unmemorable.
After checking their online menu, I feel cheated because they only had the chocolate cake. Where are the carrot cake or cheesecake?
Their lack of selection has cost them another star.

    Adorable bakery!

I was given short notice (2 business days) to get a cake for my boss' birthday and a couple of my favorites in town said they couldn't get one done that quickly.  Popped into Sweet E's and the timeframe was tight but they said they could get it done - whew!  Very friendly and helpful service during ordering and at pick-up.

Cakes are beautifully decorated and there's a nice variety to please most tastes.  I went with the chocolate silk which is a light chocolate cake with chocolate filling and ganache on top.  The cake is a touch drier than I would like and I would have liked a richer flavor, but otherwise it went over very well.  I would probably go with the flourless chocolate or the chocolate pecan next time since I like things a bit richer.  I was very pleased with the service which bumps it up from a 3.5 star to 4 star for me.

Prices are reasonable - ordered a 8" square which is about the equivalent of a 10" circle for just under $50.  Definitely beats sweating in the kitchen myself!

Delicious baked goods that look just as good as they taste.  I had a birthday cake ordered here made with vanilla and mango.  It was so good!  The outside fondant looked awesome.

I went back and tried a couple of their cookies and cupcakes which were pretty good.  There wasn't much variety in store, and I get the impression they do most of their business in pre-ordered goods.  Definitely would come back the next time I need a cake for a special occasion =)

sweet e's is a little pastry shop owned by three sisters. When you walk in you'll be overwhelmed by the smell of deliciousness. They sell a variety of cakes, muffins, cookies and tarts. They do wedding and specialty cakes too. They also have a whole slew of mini cupcakes and mini tarts. The minis are bite size with the tarts going for $2 and the cupcakes around $1-$1.50. They also sell pretty truffle pops for $1.50. My wife and I picked up a few to try, you know, for research purposes. I wasn't that impressed by the mini cupcakes. The frosting wasn't as sweet as I like it. However, the mini pecan tart was fantastic. I look forward to coming back to do a little more research at sweet e's.
