I walked in expecting to just buy some ice cream but it became so much more than that!
You can't do a small scoop with two flavours of ice cream so I started gravitating to the gelato. And bam! There they were: unique flavours. I had to try some. I've done every fruit and otherwise sweet and/or chocolaty gelato and it was time. Load me up some lemon mint and pumpkin pie.
The lemon mint was icier than the pumpkin pie and generously flecked with little mint leaves. It had that good lemon sourness to it and it's all I'm going to want the next time Toronto has a scorcher. Fingers crossed at this point. Like I said, pumpkin pie was richer so you don't need as much. But it really does taste exactly like an amazing pumpkin pie- very inventive. They should come out with an entire line of pie flavoured gelatos. Or maybe I'll be the one and patent that. And their recipes.Listed in: The Town of Cabbage, Coffee n' Treats

Open since May 28 and still no Yelp reviews? Well sheesh! I'll take on the burdensome task of sampling absolutely delightful scoops of inventive gelato and ice cream flavours, tarts, gelato cakes and the like for the benefit of you all.
Sweet Creamery is right next to Jet Fuel and in addition to serving ice cream and gelato (about a dozen flavours each) they have fresh waffles, sundaes, sandwiches and soups for lunch. They also make custom special occasion gelato cakes for $20-50 depending on the size.
I sampled a double scoop ($5) of the new Pumpkin Pie gelato and Black Raspberry Thunder Cheesecake (!!) and both were perfect. The pumpkin pie was true to flavour and very creamy although just a small taste is enough. The cheesecake scoop was unheard-of-good. I'll admit I wasn't a fan of the white chocolate chunks in it, if only because I have dental work and that shit came as a bit of a surprise to my chompers.
Other flavours include: cotton candy, pralines & cream, moose tracks, bear claw, butterscotch ripple, banana and so forth. The owner is super friendly and was looking forward to his first day off (Thanksgiving Monday) since opening this springListed in: The Best Places To Eat &…

Let me preface by stating outright: I'm qualified to review this eatery based solely on its frozen desserts. It has recently added paninis and soups that I haven't yet tried.
Based on the sweets though, I am a huge fan. The lemon-mint gelato is DEEE-vine!!! Tart enough to make ya pucker! Over the summer, Sweat Creamery had such flavours as "spicy chocolate"...with a big fat red pepper lying on top of the barrel. The plain chocolate gelato has an incredibly rich, full-bodied chocolate flavour that I've rarely tasted before. Total, super, hyper-real chocolate.
This is a total asset to the neighbourhood, and I wish it every success.
My only beef about this place is the chairs. They have to be the most uncomfortable, cold (aluminum in winter ain't good) seats I've ever filled with my ample bottom.Listed in: Restaurants

I've only ever tried the gelato at Sweet Creamery, but that alone has been enough to keep me coming back for more. Although there are never a shortage of inspired flavours to make your decision-making tough, the stand outs are definitely lemon-mint and pumpkin pie.
For those who prefer ice cream over gelato, a separate chiller is but an arm's reach away. Sundaes piled high with giant scoops and assorted sauces and toppings are named after nearby streets like Carlton, Wellesley, and Winchester.
This year, the cake display doesn't seem to be as brimming as it used to be. Where have all the tres leches cupcakes, perfectly shaped buttery croissants, and beautifully frosted cakes gone? I sure hope that they make a come back soon. -

I just got home from going here for a scoop of ice cream.
I don't eat ice cream much because I'm lactose intolerant, but I told my body to suck it up and tried the Gold Ribbon at the recommendation of the owner. It was delicious. It was your standard ice cream, but the owner who served me was very friendly and helpful and the ice cream itself was fresh and delicious.
Only thing that I found wrong with the place was the price.
$3.50 for one scoop of ice cream seems a bit outrageous. And the price of the sundaes were even worse.
Price aside, if you're in Cabbagetown for the day, it's a nice treat. -

We have been living in Cabbagetown for almost a year when we decided to try Sweet Creamery tonight. The price and flavour of the ice cream were very disappointing. As another reviewer pointed out, $3.50 for one scoop of ice cream is extreme, even for this trendy neighbourhood. And the ice cream was not worth the price, overly sweet and chalky...very odd. You might as well stick to Mcdonald's or the ice cream truck!
