Tonight was my first time here at Sushi In....this restaurant is small but definitely have a very warm and cozy ambiance which I really like.  The service was great and the place was clean.

If I have to choose my two favorite dishes from tonight's dinner I have to say hands down for the Super White Tuna and the Sea Bass!!!!!  OMG....the Super White Tuna was so so so buttery and Fresh.  Honestly this is the best sashimi I have ever had and my husband and I usually goes for sushi every week.  I will definitely be back!!!!!!

I was in the area with some friends and we saw the sign for "happy hour" on their sushi. We were all a bit tight on money at the time so happy hour sounded great. I was skeptical though because.... it's sushi.

But am I glad I ate there. The server was soooo friendly! Forgot her name but she was a young pretty and happy girl. Great service.

Collectively, we ordered the spicy tuna roll, crunchy California roll, Alaska roll, green tea cheesecake, fried banana with lychee ice cream, a glass of wine and two large sakes. The bill came out to under $40 for 3 people.

One warning though. I had the spicy tuna roll and it was unbearably spicy. That was the spiciest spicy tuna roll I've ever tried. I personally thought it was too much. But everything else was great and delicious.

Would definitely come here again, happy hour or not.

I came to Sushi In for the first time since it was remodeled the other day.  I went for the happy hour and it was reasonable, even though it's still easy to rack up a big tab, because sushi isn't the most filling of food.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the happy hour  ( $2 dollar hand rolls, $3 dollar rolls and cheap beer).  The sushi was good. I will be coming back for another Happy Hour experience.

Dropped into Sushi IN after the free food at an event wasn't enough for me. Ordered a philadelphia roll and two orders of nigiri. Fish was fresh enough, the service was quick and polite, and the hot tea was free. That's enough for four stars in my book.

This place is great! from service to the quality of food.  I haven't had a good sushi in a while and this definitely hit the spot .
The fireworks roll was real good with a good kick of spiciness.  Caterpillar and spicy tuna roll were great too.

Sushi IN has great quality fish! The service is fantastic! The waitresses and chefs are so incredibly nice and friendly! I am from the beach cities in Los Angeles and was on vacation in San Francisco. My boyfriend and I wanted to explore the great food and restaurants of SF. Sushi In was close to our hotel and weren't sure if it would be good, but IT WAS!
The sushi was beautiful and tasted fantastic! Next time I go back to SF I will definitely going back to Sushi In!

while visiting San Francisco I came here on a Saturday with my mom dad brother and boyfriend. It is a very small restaurant. We arrived around 830 without a reservation or calling ahead. They only have one table that can accommodate more than 4 people so I would recommend calling ahead with a larger party. That being said they were very accommodating and gave us a call when our table was ready.

The service was great I really wish I caught the name of our waitress she was very sweet and helpful. We ordered cold sake to start. Our server helped us pick out a cold sake. Apparently it won some type of competition in japan.

For food we ordered the scallop appetizer, firecracker roll, spicy tuna, toro nigiri, another roll with soft shell crab and my dad had beef teriyaki because he doesn't eat fish. The presentation was beautiful, extremely fresh fish and very delicious rolls. The flavors were really good and I really liked that the rolls were not smothered in sauce. The teriyaki dish came with miso soup and a salad. It was one of the best miso soups I have had in a while. Prices were decent. I will definitely be back to Sushi In the next time I am in San Francisco

Sushi in the Marina is like getting shitty ice cream in the middle of the desert:  It sucks, but man, it's there, and you'll take whatever you can get.

Unseasoned and overcooked edamame - seriously, WHAT decent Japanese restaurant nowadays doesn't season the shell (even a teeny pinch of salt would help) and then let it steam for so long that the beans are close to being mush?

Bland, small little baby gyoza.  Did I really just pay a dollar per anorexic gyoza?  Even the dipping sauce didn't help.

Good sake don (salmon over rice), because the fish was very fresh, and the rice was dotted with fish eggs and sesame.  However, for $16 a pop, I'm going to need a bigger portion.  Same goes for Boyfriend's chirashi, which was an $18 small bowl of rice and about 4 kinds of fish, plus a small piece of octopus and shrimp.

Sushi IN is clearly a sushi-only place, as their hot food items were very, very limited (teriyaki chicken, a few other broiled fish dishes); they didn't even have any noodle dishes, which is really what I'd been looking for on a cold drizzly evening.

This place is small but not cozy.  I felt a draft around my legs the entire time I was eating at the back table.  Service was attentive and nice, but it was expected since we were one of three pairs sitting in the restaurant (around 8 pm Monday).

Probably my favorite out of the other nearby sushi places off Chestnut (Ace, Naked Fish), but Sushi IN will probably not be getting a second go until I've exhausted my sushi options in the area.

I like this restaurant because they have good quality sashimi and sushi as well as your standard teriyaki entrees like beef, chicken, salmon. My husband and I have different tastes when it comes to Japanese food. He loves raw fish and to me, it's "eh, whatevers". I'll eat it, but I don't love it. So, raw fish for me is a waste of mula.

So, I ordered the beef teriyaki entree which came with miso, a side salad and of course the beef. I ordered it well, and it was slightly burned on some of the pieces (that is why I am giving 4 stars). Besides the burning, it was very tasty. I also had the garden lover's veggie roll, which was DELICIOUS! It had sweet potato tempura and the topping was the seaweed salad. My husband had a few nigiri pieces and said that the quality was good.

I noticed that they are on grubhub, so if I am too lazy to leave the house, I'll order my teriyaki from them!

Came here for a happy hour and I must say I love this place.  They have amazing deals and fresh fish!  The staff was wonderful and I had a super pleasant experience.

    Dinner:
Baked mussels - super yummy. Comes with four pieces and just love the spicy mayo flavor!

Crunchy spicy tuna roll - topped with bits of tempura and teriyaki sauce.

Crunchy Calirfornia roll - has fresh cucumber in it.  Very fresh!

Sashimi plate with Torro! - Torro is my favorite sashimi. Melts in your mouth good!

I like how they have a healthy section and serve brown rice.  Most places don't really serve brown rice and they have a very large vegetarian section as well.  Definitely will be back at this place again.  Great fish with great prices! Love that combo!

My wife and I are long time Marina residents who frequented both the closed Enoshima (same location as Sushi In) and the nearby Asa Sushi. Our first experience was with delivery but expect to visit the new restaurant in person soon. We used the website's online order form through GrubHub and were pleased with that process. We compared some of the menu prices with the menus for Enoshima and Asa and found most items a fair bit more expensive.

The delivery was super fast - twenty minutes. We allowed 40 minutes and were surprised. We live only 2-1/2 blocks away. This meant that the miso soup was still very hot as well as my wife's order of Beef Teriyaki with a Philadelphia roll. I ordered the Chirashi sushi. We also ordered a side of seaweed salad which we both favor.

My wife ageed with another reviewer that the beef teriyaki was a good cut, tender, and not drenched with sauce. The accompanying salad came with a zippy mustardy dressing rather than the typical sesame white dressing at other restaurants and was rather strong tasting. She should have tasted it before dumping all of it on the salad - she liked it but there was too much of it. She didn't care much for her Philadelphia roll which is her favorite - not much cream cheese and therefore not as soft and mushy a mouth feel as it should have.

I enjoyed my Chirashi sushi which is a bowl of assorted sashimi over sushi rice. It was garnished quite prettily with tiny slices of key lime and two kinds of fish roe. The sashimi was thick cut and very tender - top quality, so the $3.00 premium over Asa's price was worth it. The rice was perfect, not too vinegary.

The seaweed salad was tasty and had less red pepper, and therefore milder, than we were used to from other restaurants.

We enjoyed our meal and look forward to actually visiting the restaurant next time.

The sushi is good. and so is the beer and bananas foster. That's all I've had here.

It's a bit small and starts to fill up on Saturdays around 6. Both times I've been here, the tables in the back (the ones that sit more than 2) were held for reservations. It's kinda whole-in-the-wall-ish but has nice decor and is kept clean. Servers are attentive and the sushi comes out with little delay.

The sushi rolls taste just as good as they look. Fresh and creative and decently priced....and made by a real Japaneesy! I will definitely be coming back here whenever I need a sushi fix.

On a side note, I've noticed people bring their kids here. some are loud, some are quiet, some stand in their chairs and play with their chopsticks. doesn't bother me but I know some people won't like it.

    Enjoy!

We decided to try Sushi IN on a random night and were pleasantly surprised. We opted to sit at the bar (my preferred sushi spot for two) and were so delighted by the friendliness of the staff and sushi chef. After a number of fresh sushi and a tasty rainbow roll, the chef suggest we try the White Tuna and it was amazing and so so fresh. He said he had it fresh and that if we liked the Salmon, we'd like this. He was right and it was great!

We'll have to try their delivery, but our experience at the bar was awesome! We'll be back! The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because I did think the prices were a little high.

Their Happy Hour deal is incredible. I had an absolutely amazing meal there for under $20. The staff is friendly and accessible, and the food was tremendous. I couldn't be happier with me experience. Even thought the Happy Hour nigiri and maki appeared a little smaller than their dinnertime counterparts, I left feeling full and sated.

Sushi IN is a small cozy place, with nice servers, very limited seating, and mostly importantly, delicious unique rolls! The drink menu was fairly price too.

We started with the Tuna Tartarte, which was tasty, but didn't come with many wonton chips. I had the Firework Roll (spicy tuna, jalapeno, habenero, avacado etc.) and the African Spider (soft shell crab and imitation crab). Both were good and I appreciated that they weren't drenched in sauce, so I could actually enjoy the fish. There were more exciting rolls to pick from, and my friends both went that route and ordered the Pink Lady (mango, cream, cheese, some sorta kiwi sauce, and salmon), which they were impressed with.

If I can stop myself from eating so much when I come back, will definitely try the green tea cheesecake!

DELICIOUS, FRESH FISH, AND BEAUTIFUL PRESENTATION!

i came here with a large group so i was able to try out a lot of different things on the menu. there really was not a single thing that disappointed me, but of course there are always favorites

*gyoza - not something i usually get at japanese restaurants but it is an overall favorite appetizer of mine. the gyozas here are cooked really well - nice and crispy and the skin isnt too thick or soggy.

*shrimp tempura - i love the tempura batter here. its really light and crispy. you actually taste the shrimp and yam rather than a whole bunch of batter

*beef teriyaki - another dish i almost never get but this was one actually of my favorite dish of the night! beef teriyaki is usually so boring to me and i do not like sweet meat, but the beef teriyaki here is rib eye meat and it is cooked perfectly! its super tender and juicy. the teriyaki sauce on top isnt too sweet and is something good enough to eat alone with rice.

i love sushi rolls however it sucks when the sashimi is not fresh and sushi chefs drench their sushi rolls with sauce, which happens at a lot of restaurants but not here at SUSHI IN. we got a few basic ones which were all good, but some of SUSHI IN's signature rolls really stood out to me

*firecracker - shrimp tempura topped with spicy ahi tuna, jalapeno and habanero. in my experience, almost all the spicy rolls ive had are made spicy usually cause it has a lot of sriracha. but with this roll, there wasn't much sauce and you can taste all the fresh ingredients. the flame on the side is a nice touch as well

*golden spicy tuna - spicy tuna deep fried with jalapeno and eel and spicy sauce. another good spicy roll without too much sauce to mask the tuna fish flavor and not heavily battered

*samurai - seared fresh fish with asparagus and avocado. my first time having a roll with asparagus in it and it was really good! the fish on top of the roll was seared nicely - still raw but has a nice crust on the outside, and was a good combination with the crunchy asparagus.

even though there isn't much to look at when it comes to pieces of raw fish, owner/sushi chef Jacky really takes his time on his presentation. the sashimi is fresh and nice and buttery tasting. the salmon and super white tuna sashimi were my two favorites. and unlike some other restaurants, these sashimi pieces are thick!

being a new sushi restaurant in SF, people may think "oohh anotherrrr sushi place?" but SUSHI IN really is a great restaurant because the owners, the chefs, and waitress are all so welcoming and enthusiastic. Jacky puts in a lot of passion and hard work into his dishes and it does show. the quality of the food is really good and its at a very affordable price (we all know eating sushi is not cheappp)

i highly recommend everyone to give this place a try! you wont be disappointed

As other reviewers have posted, I was also interested in this location as I was a solid regular at Enoshima. I really tried to be impartial and not compare the two as they are very different but it was difficult.

The food was very good, presentation was beautiful! The sushi was very pretty to look at and VERY fresh, some of the best I've had so I have no complaints about the food.

The atmosphere was clean and modern, I could have done without the house music playing in the background. Something more ambient would have been better.  It's just not good "digestion" music.  It was Saturday night but it was early enough to be before the club hopping starts.

It was busy but not packed.  Our waitress seemed to be in a hurry and actually made me nervous/ uncomfortable.  She was so efficient and seemed to be trying so hard that it was as if she were rushing us through our meal.  I  understand that on a Saturday night it may get busy later and it is a very small space but while we were there it would have been nice to not feel rushed.

I hope they do well but I do miss the "homey" atmosphere of Enoshima, I miss James and Hideo, but I wish Sushi IN the best.  I will come back but can I have a different waitress?

I am a huge sushi fanatic and was anticipating the opening of Sushi In. I've had a lot of sushi in my life but nothing comes close to the presentation at this quaint place. The sushi looked gorgeous and was absolutely amazing. The fish was incredibly fresh and I was surprised that THIS is what real sushi tastes like.

I've been going to a lot of sushi places around the Marina and find all the rolls pretty much the same - boring. Sushi In is def my new spot! Try the firework roll if you like spicy!!

So I found myself with a half an hour before I needed to be at a meeting, and decided to stop by Sushi In for my second time. I was surprised that the ownership recognized me and I ordered what I feel is their signature roll called "Firecracker". The novelty is that the plate is served with a flame on it. But really the roll is one of the tastiest rolls you'll ever have. Just before that I had the "NZ Tai" (Red Snapper) Most sushi chefs drown Red Snapper in Ponzu Sauce, but not here. Simply Awesome! Finished my quick stop with Halibut and Salmon Toro. Beyond like butter. The fish is always fresh and top caliber. And the family really cares about their customers, presentation and flavor of their dishes. I highly recommend this sushi restaurant.

It's been open about 4 weeks and we've eaten there twice and ordered take out once. They have the BEST California rolls and salmon sashmi. All the rolls are amazing and the prices are great.

The atmosphere is modern, calm, clean and dimly lit. A nice relaxing sushi experience. The service is great and Teresa is super helpful!

This is a good place if you want cheap sushi.  The place is remodeled and is nice inside, but the service is very rushed.  I have been here a few times and every time I have been hawk eyed at each bite I took and the waitress kept coming by to try and take my plate....It was very uncomfortable and then after another roll was brought out the waitress moved all of my plates and soy sauce which I highly disgusted by since I saw her walk around touching and cleaning everything.  Not sure if I will return because the service was just unbelievable for a place that had 5 others in it and I felt like I had to stuff my face and leave.

My husband and I decided to try this place tonight because they deliver and the weather was pretty nasty.  Well, I sort of wished we'd just ventured out to one of our regular spots in the rain.  The sushi rolls were OK but nothing special. The fireworks roll was really tasty and probably the best thing we ordered but for $14 it was rather small, no larger then a standard tuna roll.  With all of the awesome sushi places in the neighborhood we won't be going back to Sushi In for an overpriced mediocre meal.

Loving this place! Small but cozy, great to have private party! I had edamame with garlic, (very different and I like it a lot), uni (gosh, the best I've had!), spoonful beef, (very nice presentation) fish (forgot what kind) with avocado and jalapeño, and ankimo. (fish liver) Food presentation is really pretty. I love their soy sauce jar, too. It looks like a mini teapot.

Had a chat with the Sushi bar chef and found out they are open for only 2 months. It was full house when I walked in. Oh, forgot to mention they have mango mochi. It was really mango like flavor, I never had this flavor before. Also, the restroom is very roomy and clean.

I really enjoyed my night, thank you.

I was really looking forward to visiting Enoshima sushi on my recent visit to the city.  I have been a long time customer of Enoshima, but since I moved away from the city last year, I haven't been there in a few months.  To my surprise, the business has changed hands and is no longer called Enoshima.  When I stopped by, I saw a crew of contractor remodeling the restaurant.  I had mixed feelings, since I have some attachment to the feel of the old Enoshima, but a cleaner, newer restaurant is always nice.

A gentlemen came out and introduced himself as the new owner / chef.  He was very nice and excited to see old customers of Enoshima coming back.  His enthusiasm and passion definitely showed as he invited me to come back to their grand opening.  I don't know how everything will look or taste after the changes, but I am very excited to see a young business owner try to take this place to the next level.  Looking at the new menu and looking at some of the pictures of the rolls, I am super excited to come back to try to food.  I am picky about my sushi and I have very high hopes for this place after speaking to Jacky.  Good luck to Sushi IN!

the fish at sushi IN is some of the freshest I have ever had! The overall presentation of the food and quality of the fish really reflects the chef's passion for sushi...

The sashimi was thickly cut and delicious, but my other favorites were the eye catching fireworks roll (that actually comes out with fire on the plate!), and the gorgeous african spider roll...

I highly recommend this new place to sushi and sashimi lovers!

I've been to Sushi IN a couple of times now and I have never been disappointed. The sashmi is as fresh as they get and Jacky the sushi chef is great at creating new rolls and dishes. I ordered the omakase and the fish was fresh and the price was reasonable. I will definitely continue coming here.

Five of us went to Sushi IN last week. This place is very clean and sensational. We loved the rolls and sashimi. They were fresh and tasty. We highly recommend Sushi IN. Yummy!

This place is killer - undiscovered gem in the middle of the marina.  Fireworks Roll is off the charts and service is excellent.  Well above expectations!  They do takeout and delivery as well.

It's a small place but has great food.  The fish is fresh and presentation is awesome, I loved it and can't wait to go back!

Eh...I wouldn't go back. Our sashimi was bad, the rolls were bad. It's a pity since they are only a block away from where I live.
