One review for Sushi California
All Reviews
This new Korean owned sushi restaurant recently opened up in Enorae Bistro's old location. I recently visited Sushi California for some take out.
The "tuna tataki" was lightly seared and served with ponzu sauce - simple yet delicious. The atlantic salmon sashimi was rich and flavourful. "Maguro goma ae" - tuna and avocado in a light sesame sauce; I liked that this dish wasn't drenched in the sauce, great balance of flavours. "Tako kimchee" is a nice light appetizer which includes tender cooked octopus served with kimchee sauce and cucumbers.
Crazy Spicy Tuna Roll - it has spicy tuna, garlic, green onion and cucumber inside with smoked salmon slices on top of the roll. Interesting flavours - I thought the smoked salmon would overpower everything but luckily it didn't. It was the right amount of spice and I have to say that I liked the addition of garlic.
Paradise Roll - sockeye salmon, crab meat, mango, avocado and cucumber. The mangoes added a nice balance of sweetness to this roll.
Butterfly Roll - salmon, tuna, surf clam, flying fish roe, mayo, chili sauce, green leaf lettuce and tempura crumbs. This was a good spicy roll
Most of the common rolls like California, Bakudan, Philidelphia, BC Roll, Chopped Scallop etc are about $3.95-5.95. The more elaborate rolls like the ones I had are closer to $10.95. And nigiri is about $3.95 for two pieces.
I like to try a place more than once before giving a review, so hopefully my future visits live up to to the beautiful presentation and flavourful dishes I had. Service was really friendly too.
