Wild thing, you make my heart sing!

Uni, that is. Two massive, wonderfully sweet chunks of uni on a lovely fragrant rice, with the most delicious nori to hold it all together. A double cloud of delight. Oh, man, this was good!

Hokkigai was tender, and the Tako just perfect. Yes, I did traditional Nigiri as these are the truest test for freshness. And Mr Sushi chef did them up with a stunning presentation - no impulse control meant no photos - but these were real beauties on the plain white serving ware.

Interestingly, the ebi sunomono was very delicate. Which was fitting, as the portion was larger than in some other establishments.

My work colleagues have been ordering take out from Sushi Bella on evening shift, and the fragrant banquet has been way too tantalizing for me to bear.

So, lunch today brought me here...I was in at 11:30am, right at opening. This place was jam packed at lunch - a doubled up lineup! The seat right next to the window gives you a view clear out the inlet. Nice decor, intriguing art work, and a clean, fresh, look. A very diverse clientele!

Me and my honey decided to pay a visit to this sushi restaurant according to the high ratings on yelp.
The waiter acted kind of dull and awkward when he came greet us. I was like,oh no,don't start this with a bad service because i usually judge the  business with their service first... then thanks god they send another girl over, and she is so much more friendly and having big smiles on her face!!!
So the food on the menu has different names than other Japanese restaurants can have on their menu, and the price is pretty high compare to others.
I expect something different since everything looks interesting and new to me from the menu. But I was disappointed when the food comes, well the presentation was nice, but seriously ,there is nothing too different than sushi town on Marine drive, besides I think Sushi town actually tastes better and cheaper!
ok,there is no compatible sushi restaurants on Lonsdale, maybe that's one of the reason it makes them popular??
The fish was not even tasting special or fresh,it does give my honey upset tummy as if he had the unfresh or wrong food,he always got sick right away and that was the only meal he had for the day !
Everything feels the same to other restaurant ,it's just they change a name on it.
and with 2 rolls and a spicy tuna(small portion) and a small sake cost us 50 bucks is just too much.

Fun, busy place to get sushi and interesting Japanese-influenced dishes. Loved the appetizers here. Less fond of the more traditional rolls -- have found the rice in the rolls a little too heavy and glutinous the last few times I've been. When you order nigiri, though, the pieces of fish tend to be extremely generous, so great bang for your buck there.

Last summer they set up some outdoor tables, which made it a fabulous place to grab some lunch on a nice day on Lonsdale.

Went to Sushi Bella on Lonsdale for a quick meal before seeing a movie. Overall, good experience.

The restaurant was busy (good sign) but we managed to get a table within minutes. My boyfriend had the original sushi pizza, which was really good and the Ugly Truth roll. Well executed for a roll that incorporates bacon and scallops. I had the Harmony roll (tasty but nothing too special) and the Ocean Dream (exemplary). Everyone at our table was thoroughly impressed by the presentation of the food. Really creative and appealing. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for good quality, fusion Japanese fare.

This was a great place. Really enjoyed the place and their service. They actually put some effort into making the food not just tasty, but also appealing and stylish.
Came in on a Sunday afternoon, place was packed, but luckily someone left as we were waiting.
Rice tea is served immediately as you take your seat. Recommended!

All was excellent.  Quality:price ratio is probably best on the North Shore.  Only issue is that every time I go there there are fruit flies around that they just can't seem to rid themselves of.

I would call this an Asian-Western fusion that appeals to many. It's the unique combination of Japanese and Western strengths that makes these dishes well-plated and a taste that equals its appearance.

Tonight we had the Volcano sushi pizza which I strongly recommend. The base of the pizza is compacted rice and then fried. The toppings are spicy tuna chunks and jalapeno. Another favourite of ours is the House Greens which has a variety inside: organic green, shredded beets and carrots, cucumber, avacado, cherry tomatoes, inari slices(sweet tofu), crunchy potato topping and a dressing which brings out the best in the salad.

You can't go wrong with any of the maki (rolls). Even though they aren't the typical traditional Japanese rolls you see in Japan, some of the more intricate combinations are interesting. There is one roll which is coated in fried batter. Sitting near the kitchen window allows you to see what other people are ordering. This one of the popular dishes.

Another one coming out all the time are the fried tempura dishes (batter dipped) From, the mixed variety of shrimp and vegetables, to only shrimp, tempura is a great starter. One of my favourites is called the puri-puri ebi (deep fried shrimp tempura). This is the other version of tempura which is fried in panko (flaky bread crumbs). This is super crispy and the chipotle dipping sauce that comes with this is awesome!

For the more traditional Japanese dishes, their assorted sashimi is a beauty. Judging by the constant line-ups at the entrance, and the packed tables at Sushi Bella in comparison to the Japanese restaurant a couple doors down, this place is a keeper for North Vancouver, and I'm happy they're a part of our community!

I'm also interested in trying their location on West 4th in Vancouver to compare the two.

This has quickly become my favorite place to get sushi. The prices are I find to be very good but it is the consistent quality that keeps me coming back again. They have many varieties of rolls and other dishes.

You really need to make a reservation for dinner during the week. It is always very busy and if you do not have a reservation you can find yourself waiting a long time to get a table. They could really use a slightly larger location.

    Innovative Rolls...
As a Vegetarian, with an allergy to fish you may think I'm crazy for going to Sushi!  Well at Sushi Bella, you can find some amazing choices for Vegetarians and all Sushi lovers!
I was introduced to Sushi Bella by my friend when they posted a Living Social Coupon, and for those who know me I love a great deal! With my first coupon, I took my sister there - we were amazed to find so many Vegetarian Rolls and floored when they were so yummy! The knife skills are amazing, ( I don't like huge chunks of things in my sushi - it makes it difficult to eat).
I have since gone with friends and then my husband - each time was just as great.

I have to say consistency, quality, fun cozy atmosphere, and great taste - you get my five stars! One thing, be patient as it is not a secret, there is a wait or reserve ahead and it will pay off - I promise!

    My Favourites:
Soy Roll, Shiitake Roll, Deluxe Veggie
    My Husband's Favourites:
    Crazy California, Gangster, Crunchy Gogo

My son and I enjoyed a variety of dishes here tonight. I wasn't too thrilled with the roll menu as there were many interesting sounding ingredients, unfortunately most of them were topping California rolls. Yuck. I am just not a California roll person. Fake crab is fake crab, sorry, no go for me.

I had the spicy tuna sashimi which was excellent. Presentation was really nice. We shared a veggie tempura and it looked just beautiful on the plate and was delicious too. (except the huge broccoli- way too big)

My son also enjoyed a spicy tuna topped Cali roll which looked lovely along with a teriyaki chicken dinner for which he exclaimed several times 'this is so good!' I tasted it too and had to agree.. the veggies underneath were fantastic too.

I felt a bit crowded and the music was loud, but 4 stars anyway for really decent food and gorgeous presentation.

We checked Yelp and ordered from others' experience, which was really great. (cowboy, ganster, bella tower, gyoza, dynamite, veggie tempura). Ordering the old standbys was not so...they seemed bland in comparison to the more creative renditions unique to Sushi Bella. The entrees looked good (though we didn't do that): we ordered small plates in 3 phases, so total 6 for 3 of us, which was just right, for hungry appetites.

Aesthetically, Sushi Bella is the nicest/chic-est place to have sushi out in North Vancouver.

They seem to focus on creative and interesting rolls, but their appy's and mains are really good too. The Bella Tower is a main in the form of a moulded stack of chopped sashimi and crabmeat. The mixed veggie tempura is one of my faves though because instead of just the standard slices of yam and potato, Sushi Bella does giant hunks of broccoli, asparagus, red pepper, yam, and mushroom. Sooo good.

Meh...If you are looking for authentic Japanese food, don't go here (like if you are a sushi snob who is either Japanese or has had really great Japanese food in Japan before).

I will give them props for wonderful decor and set up of the restaurant...that definitely "wows" you.  Also food presentation is good.  But at the end of the day, the food is just meh.  There are much better places to get good, authentic, Japanese food and sushi.

This place is gangsta! So good. Try the Gangster Roll. It's pretty big and has fried shrimp tails on the end pieces. You won't regret it!

Sushi Bella does as great of a job on presentation as they do for taste. It's probably some of the best, if not most creative, sushi I have had before. Having been my first time at a sushi place in Vancouver, I have nothing but places from back in Chicago to compare it to but my friends who I went with said it is one of the best. I'd have to agree.

I also ordered the Paradise Roll which I would highly recommend. It is sushi topped with mango. It's an awesomely tasty combo.

The atmosphere is kind of upscale/chill. For big groups it seems like it was hard to accommodate us since it was a busy night and the place is small, but a 25 minute wait was worth it.

I had written a review of Sushi Bella when it first opened and I was thrilled with the food, the decor, the service.  That was a couple of years ago when I lived down the street.  Now I have moved away but went back for a visit and couldn't wait to have lunch there with my family.  It was busy and we didn't mind the 15 minute wait to be seated, but they had one server and she could just not keep up.  It took forever for her to take our order and we did not get all that we had ordered.  We had to chase her down for the missing food, tea, the bill - it was the worst service ever!  We felt like we were being a major problem to her.  But, her attitude was nothing in comparison to the man at the cash when I paid the bill.  He was surly and unsmiling and did not even say thank you when I paid him.   The food was very good, but it takes both good food and good service to make me want to return to any restaurant.
