Surf sisters know what they're talking about. Or at least it certainly seems that way.
I booked some lessons for a few girlfriends and I and we were pretty happy with it. I had previously taken some lessons in Mexico and really appreciated the added effort that Surf Sister put into it...info on how to read the ocean, rip tides, etc.
Most of us were up on our boards within the first few tries which was awesome and they also helped some of us get to the next level (moving forward and back on the board to slow and up the speed).
Overall, it was well worth it. You can always just rent a board and go for it, but I think spending the time and money on one lesson is really helpful in making surfing something you want to do more than just once a year. -

I went in to make a retail purchase and I have to say the manager was pretty unprofessional. I loved what I bought but if I had been coming in to book a lesson I would have walked right back out. She was on the phone begging someone to come in and teach a lesson due to yet another problem with their scheduling, she didn't want to have to cancel anyone, going on about various staff and their ability to open or close etc. It was way too much info about her business and how it operates and didn't instill much confidence I could book a lesson and end up with an instructor.

I took a lesson with Surf Sister Surf School a couple of weeks back and they were fantastic. They put you in groups of five people to each instructor, with whom you then broke off and did beach training and then water instruction with. Two hours cost me $75, any longer I would have been exhausted anyway and so don't be fooled into thinking that you get a better deal with other schools offering 3hrs for $85... you will be exhausted after two hours of battling the waves anyway. The instruction was very good. Friends of mine booked with other schools that same day and even though the instructor-student ratio was the same, they did the lesson with three other groups and the instructors time was free for anyone to claim. Our Surf Sister instructor knew each of us by name by the time we entered the water and were very attentive to each member of their class. High five.. would definatley come back to this school again..
