Review from Peter L.
Overall for my needs, this hotel was the best one that I booked or stayed at during our 10 night East Coast Trip and that included several Sheratons and a Hilton. 4 1/2 stars!
Cost was $103 plus 13% Harmonized Sales Tax.
Located right in a Asian Mall in Chinatown.
Pros:
Major plus - FREE and FAST wireless internet (compared to all the other places).
Very spacious room.
Bathroom has air vent.
Room has mircowave, fridge (super cold) and safe!
Excellent air conditoner (albeit a bit noisy).
Front desk was really nice and helpful.
Free cold breakfast provided.
Guest self service laundry at $1.50/1.50 wash and dry.
Location of hotel is close to many attractions (Chinatown, Kensigton Market, etc)
The 510 streetcar is right in front of the hotel.
Cons:
Old TV.
There was one towel that had hair in it.
Parking $19/day.

Perfect for the budget minded traveller! -

I recently stayed here specifically because i wanted to stay in Chinatown.
Nice, functional hotel. They make some economies that may or may not be important to you, but they aren't critical. The basic room is a bit small compared to pricier hotels. An iron and ironing board are not standard but if you ask for them, they'll provide them immediately. No soap dish built into the shower. No light in the entryway to the room.
Oh, yeah, the staff were friendly and very helpful. My refrigerator was not working properly and before I even returned to my room a maintenance guy was there to remove the old and install a new one. The service could not possibly be quicker.
The hard-wired high-speed internet was very fast. The lobby's wireless system reached my room but the signal was weak. I have an iPad so I connected an Airport Express to the Ethernet port to generate a local wireless spot in the room and the speed was impressive.
There's a small bar and massage room although i wasn't clear about their hours and did not inquire. They offer the usual cold continental breakfast. If that's a problem there's a great Chinese bakery two doors down Spadina.
I'll be back if I'm staying in the neighborhood. -
Review from Leon C.
After my first experience of the Super 8 chain, and beforehand being warned of the awfulness of all the 8's I can say with complete confidence that it was great. The reception was clean, the staff were professional and the room was spacious with a huge TV and all the comforts I could possibly need. We were downtown so perfect for hitting the party scene immediately. We were 'so' downtown that our window faced directly onto the escalators in the mall. The escalator was so close, if my window was open they could reach in and stroke my head. Many could take this as a negative, not me. I reckon they were tipped off on my exhibitionist ways and thought maybe I'd like the audience.
$113 for a big room, with breakfast, in downtown Toronto sounds like great business to me.
P.s. I forgot to mention, you can get a room with a jacuzzi. Nice!Listed in: Brit in Toronto

The room itself was fine, but there were other issues. Staff were friendly, if not always able to help (how does a hotel run out of blankets?). Breakfast was fine (typical hotel breakfast). Moving between the room, the front desk and parking was a nightmare. Going from our room to our car, for instance, meant using one very slow elevator to go to the front desk, then another slow, over-used elevator down to the garage.
When visiting Toronto again, I would look elsewhere. -

If you are looking for somewhere reasonably priced in downtoan Toronto this is as good as it gets. For around $90 per night, you get a big clean room right in the middle of Chinatown, which means it's good for the wondefully bohemian Kensington Market where you can eat Mexican food as well as all manner of Asian food. You are also only 5 minutes walk from Queen Street for shopping and close to the entertainment district too. They have parking on site which is $20 per day or you can use the public parking across the street. I booked through Expedia UK which meant I paid the direct GBP:CAD exchange rate so I wasn't burnt on the credit card dubious rates and fees business model.
The included breakfast was of the strictly 'Continental why bother just orange juice, cereal and coffee' variety. The internet access is free in the room but wired, there is wireless access in the reception which may be accessible from your room but it's a matter of luck.
Not the most luxurious hotel in town, but then if it was, you'd be paying three or four times as much. I have no reservations in recommending reservations here. -

Completely ridiculous customer service. You can call a toll free number to make the reservation, but to cancel you need to call the local number in Toronto. AND, when calling said number in Toronto, you get the same person. Rude service and laughably unhelpful.

I absolutely loved my stay here. Great location, service, etc. .... but best part of the stay was the view! ... into the Chinatown mall!! Yeah, it's awesome. I don't think I ever want a view to the outdoors again. Really a unique experience. Great location if you want to check out the shops on Queen St. Within walking distance to the Art Museum and downtown. REALLY close to Kensington Market. I don't think I'd stay anywhere else in Toronto.
