Hey son, seeking to score some sweet skis or a snowboard without sinking a sick stack of your salary? Rent from Summit Sport!
Summit offers some of the cheapest rentals in Whistler Village for development and performance equipment, and a 20% off discount for online bookings. The staff is very helpful as well, and will fit you comfortably with snug boots and aptly sized board/skis.
The equipment here isn't cheap, but you can apply two days of rental fees towards the purchase of your equipment. With a 7,400 square foot store right next to the Whistler gondola lift, the store is large and conveniently located. After a long day's skiing, our hero also appreciated that they had room to store skis and poles for him overnight in the store so that he didn't have to bring them all the way back to the lifts.
TIP: If you're too tired / hungover / hospitalized / etc. to ski, call before 9 AM to cancel your day's rental.
PROS:
- Excellent customer service from people who have moved to Whistler from all around the world for the lifestyle. All the staff have name tags stating where they are from.
- Located right next to the main lifts in Whistler Village.
- Some of the lowest equipment rental fees if you book online.
CONS:
- To get the maximum savings from your rentals, you cannot take any break days in between. They charge a declining amount for continuous days only. -

I was pretty happy with SummitSport. If you're staying at the Hilton it's awesome, but for anyone who's renting, it's great. They have hordes of staff ready to get you on the slopes in the morning, and get you to the hot tub in the evening without delay. In five days of renting, I don't think I waited more than 2 minutes.

Summit Ski and Board is an ultra convenient store with lots of different rentals. You wont be disappointed by the staff and the atmosphere. The store is whistler village gondola's neighbour, if that isn't saying something.
I would also recommend them in the summer time as they change over to mainly bikes. An all around good place to set you up for the slopes. -

In spite of its name, Summit is at the base of the mountain.
Besides misnomer, benefits far outweigh the few negatives.
:: Positive ::
We forgot our 10% off coupons but they honored them.
My my bro-in-law's rental binding broke and they replaced it without hassle or questions. He also bought some glove liners which ripped after two days of use, and they refunded his money.
One of the guys working in the ski-purchase area was extremely knowledgeable & friendly about their selection, though he had an amazingly loud cow when he heard about some NHL players being traded to a new team.
A few days later, I went back to buy a souvenir 100th anniversary Rossignol ski, and though the guy who helped me then wasn't very friendly, he was helpful and packaged my ski securely in a cardboard box so I could check it safely on the plane home.
:: Negative ::
A different guy tried selling my wife and I scratched display goggles she wanted rather than new ones, and threw the box away without asking if she wanted it when he gave her new ones. -

A proprietary part on my overpriced salomon snowboard bindings broke this year and I went to Summit to see if they might save me from purchasing a new set of bindings. A guy there, forgot his name, took the time to go through about 10 boxes of used parts of various snowboard bindings until he found a few pieces that when combined provided an almost better set up than I originally had. He helped me put it all together and when I asked what I owed him he said not to worry about it and that he just hoped I came back to buy something there. Well, I just bought $300 worth of mtn bike equipment from them. Again they took the time to point out what I needed and didn't need. Cant say more things about this great shop.

Went with a group of 5 to get rentals for both skis and snowboards, and the good folks at Summit did everything in their power to get us in and out on the slopes quickly. The only thing that held us up was a person in our group who decided to eat her tunafish sandwich as we all were geared up and ready to go. i mean, C'mon!
