On my very first visit to Vancouver I got to take the Seabus to Lonsdale Quay for a day of farmers market fun and getting a gorgeous view of my future home. While there, I was taken to a little Japanese restaurant overlooking the water and nestled right in the center of the Quay. While I might lose my "food critic" badge for this, but I have to confess. I'm not a huge fan of sushi or sashimi. The addiction that strikes so many Vancouverites just did not hit me. While I LOVE tempura, bento boxes, and all the grilled and delectable goodies that come with sushi, the sushi and sashimi themselves just don't do it for me.

Lucky for me, I have discovered by far the best of these sushi accoutrements can be found at the delightful Suki Sushi. Our most recent visit being probably my tenth or so. I decided that a sushi style adventure was best accompanied by a Sake loving friend. So we ordered a large bottle for the two of us and settled into the menu. Me with my classic favorite, the teriyaki salmon bento box and him with a beautiful platter of salmon and tuna rolls. The tempura here is not to be missed, so crispy and fresh without any of the greasiness often found on tempura. They are also very open minded on the items they dip in the batter, using mushrooms, asparagus, and broccoli as opposed to the regular yam and squash.

Our food arrives almost immediately and perfectly cooked (or rather assembled). My bento is filled with a Yasahi salad, Bean sprout salad topped with asparagus tempura, steamed rice, California rolls, and a gorgeous slice of grilled teriyaki salmon atop stir fried cabbage. As i may have mentioned before, I am incredibly indecisive. I often choose dishes that offer me multiple little servings of different foods and flavors. This bento has never let me down. It always arrives fresh, diverse, and so tasty.

My partner in crime is wowed with his sushi and remarks on the texture and non-fishy flavor. He is impressed and ensures me this meal will have to happen again. We order a serving of Gyoza in the name of research. They arrive looking more like wontons as opposed to the traditionally steamed then pan-fried Gyoza I am used to. However, their peculiar appearance is redeemed by the crisp flavor and savory sauce.

The key features of this quaint little restaurant are simple. They overlook the most beautiful city on the planet, they serve their food FRESH off the boats that pull up in the nearby harbor, and they offer a distinct hospitality that is so common in Japanese restaurants. I have spent numerous evenings with friends here drinking Sake and dining in the company of good people.

POOR FOOD: sour..taste...really bad im asian i know how sushi should taste.
The sushi looks ..ugly, irregular, and loosen..
POOR SERVICE: the girl who served us has a very shitty face. srsly...if you do not want to be a server get another job.

Here you can find great sushi & sake at the North Vancouver SeaBus terminal vicinity. The weather spoiled my plans of seeing the Eye of the Wind view deck at Grouse Mountain so I came back down and got lunch here. It's warm and inviting. The full sake jar was super neat! It's a piece of glass art! I wonder how the artist made it. Maybe the large portion first then inserted the blue piece next while blowing it inward to create that egg shape inside [for the ice]. Just make sure to pour with that opening facing outward. :)

I stopped in here for take out because I was starving on a Friday night, and had 20 minutes to wait until the next seabus.  This was the only place open other than McDonalds.

I had been hoping for some cheap take out so when I paid $20 for a sushi combo, I was a little shocked.  I went with the Suki sushi combo - 6 sashimi, 6 sushi and 6 rolls.

Delicious.  Beautifully arranged in a styrofoam takeout container too!  The chefs clearly were proud of their food!  Before she gave it to me, the hostess took the time to point out that there were three different types of tuna - so I could compare the local with some Hawaiian.  I'm no sushi connoisseur, but I appreciated that she educated me about what I was eating.

And the fish was delicious - everything was super fresh, and I enjoyed the variety of the tuna too!

It's a little pricey for takeout, but the quality will definitely have me coming back for more!!!

We ventured into this Sushi place right behind the Lonsdale public market.  Please note that the location shown on the google map is wrong.  It's located right behind the Lonsdale public market instead.

We didn't expected much since this sushi place is located in a tourist area, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and the service.  The place is simple looking, but can see the bay looking over to Vancouver sky line (if you lean far to into the window)  Looks like there might be outdoor seatings in the summer.

    Our orders were:
    Age dashi tofu - Delicious
Ebi Mayo - deep fried prawn with Japanese mayo.  Great firm and sweet prawns (got 4 of them) on bed of mixed greens. - couldn't get enough.
Sashimi trio apetizers - very very good.  Chef gave us extra pieces of white fatty tuna that melts in our mouths fresh.
Rainbow roll - large and tasty.

Total price $42 with tax. for two.. that's about $21/each.. Cheap and tasty.  Would definitely recommend this place if you are ever in North Vancouver, BC.
