For some reason, years ago my friends and I used to go the all you can eat sushi buffet after class. We'd get our own booth and fork up the pretty reasonable $12 to get stuffed with seaweed and mediocre california rolls, soggy tempura and bowls of soy sauce and tea.
Then one day our sushi came with flies, and their eggs. And since then I have not eaten there again. Gross guys, really gross. -

I haven't been here for a while, and a few years ago I was left with an alright impression. Then the other day, I decided to come back, since I was at the bank right across from it.
I entered at around 6pm on a weekday, and the first thing I noticed was that there was only one table occupied. This struck me as odd because come on, even on a weekday you'd expect business to be better than that! So I proceeded to order takeout- an udon, spicy tuna and negitoro roll.
Udon- alright.. Wasn't too horrid, but I found it much too salty!
Negitoro roll- looked weird. I ate a piece anyway and it was DISGUSTING. Clearly the fish was far from fresh, tasted like it had been rotten for a month or something. I've had previous experiences of being served fish that had gone bad at sushi bars, but never has it been so bad as then where I actually felt compelled to spit the whole thing out. Needless to say, I threw out the rest of the roll.
Spicy tuna roll- after trying the negitoro roll, there was no way I was willing to try this.
I love sushi aLOT. But if I were given the option of eating here or never eating sushi again, I'd definitely give up sushi. No question about that. -

I would give them zero stars if I could. The entire staff sit on the backlot and smoke, then come in and cook and serve food without washing their hands.
I have observed them numerous times when passing by the street and there seems to always be someone outside at the back either smoking or just chilling out with their hands touching the gross wall or garbage can.
This is disgusting. They shouldn't even be allowed to run this place.
FFS. A big no-no-no. Don't eat here. -

Oh my gosh. I couldn't even order! First, I came in on the weekend around 2:30pm-ish and it was quite busy with the All you can eat. I could barely hear the hostess who YELLED at me when I only said "I'm sorry, I didn't hear you there, could you speak up?". Literally yelled, not raised her voice so I could hear her....no smile.....she yelled.
After being yelled at, she sits me down and slaps my menu on the table. No words were said to me. Just slapped down my menu and walked away. In fact, she did it at the same time...slapped the menu down as she walked away from my table.
After being informed this is last call, I ticked off what I wanted. The waiter starts arguing that "this is last call, this is not enough for you". I politely explained to him that "that's fine, I am not terribly hungry and sushi fills me up. Please could you just bring me this order?". Still, he argues with me.....wouldn't let me order at all. He starts arguing me with more about something I didn't understand at all (tried to explain to him that I didn't understand why he was arguing and needed him to please tell me what's going on). I finally just said "This is what I want, can you please just bring this to me?". He continues to argue. I never once raised my voice to them, and never lost my temper.
After having some people stare at me, I was so embarrassed.....I got so fed up I told him that "I've had enough, I'm leaving". He didn't argue, didn't say he's sorry.
Absolutely the WORST service I have had to date. I have been to some terrible sushi places in my time, and had mediocre service...but this was just bad. Never will I go to this place again. There are plenty of other sushi places around who can at least smile, be polite, and explain something to me when I don't understand. -

I needed a Coquitlam sushi place, so I had to try this out when I was in the area last week.
For starters, and I don't know if it's always like this, but when I walked in it was completely over air conditioned. Being cold outside, I thought it was odd to blast the AC. I had to borrow my boyfriend's hoodie and I was still freezing!
Aside from that the service was really fast. And the sushi was really good. A bit highly priced for the area, but the portions were a decent size. They were very generous in the wusabi offering which always gets a thumbs up from me.
I would go back if I was in the area and hungry for something sushi. -

I think this is the worst sushi place I've been to so far. I knew this place was crappy, but I didn't realize it would be THIS bad. Other than the look of the place (kind of, not really), everything else is just HORRIBLE.
First of all, the service was just bad. We were greeted by a waiter as soon as we walked in. No wait, not greeted, he just stared at us and told us there would be no AYCE. Not even a hi. Showed us to our table and we had to wait awhile for the tea.
The prices are too high for the crap food that they give you. We had 4 people, including myself. There was a beef teriyaki rice bowl with tempura, chicken teriyake rice bowl with tempura, gomae (spinach with peanut sauce), spicy agedashi tofu (spicy deep fried tofu), yam tempura roll, and mixed vegetable green soba.
Okay. Both the rice bowls are decently portioned but didn't taste great. The gomae was in a cube shape with sauce dumped on top. The tofu looked REALLY oily. I ordered the roll and soba. The roll.. ugh. It was so poorly made. As soon as I tried to pick it up, it just fell apart. The rice wasn't packed well enough, and who the hell puts Japanese mayo in a yam tempura roll?! My mixed vegetable soba, it was so bland. For some reason they put 2 random fish cakes on my noodles, and the "mixed veggies" were zucchini, carrots, and cabbage. It was so gross I couldn't even finish it.
The service and staff was about as great as their food. The people who worked there yelled out in Chinese to each other while working. Don't expect a Japanese person working here. We had to ask for a tea refill twice before they did it. No one smiles here, and they don't come to you unless you ask them a couple of times.
I will never come back here. If you want to throw away your money.. by all means, eat at this place. -

Oh my dear God. I would give this place NO stars but that would defeat the purpose of a review wouldn't eat (it...see these Freudian slips that give you a pretty good idea of how I feel about this place?)
We decided to try it tonight because it's just right in our 'hood. Big mistake. We went in to be greeted abrasively by the server. I asked to look at their menus and she frowned and abruptly said that they have an all-you-can-eat menu and a regular dining one and you can't order from both. One or the other, she barks. Ohkaayy so we take obediently take our seats and decide to order a la carte.
Food comes; the fried soft shell crab, baked oysters, prawn tempura, a bowl of rice and pork yakisoba. If you like dried japanese mayo crusted on top of stale oysters and seafood that tastes like they've been deep fried in very old oil, then this might be the place for you. My husband remarked that the yakisoba oddly tasted like leftovers tossed in greasy noodles. The rice was the only thing that they didn't screw up and being an Asian joint, they've met the barest minimum!
If like us, you like your Japanese food fresh and cooked in golden, light and delicate tasting oil, take my advice and skip this place. I was so mad at my appetite being ruined I didn't tip, which I never, ever do. Living in Vancouver, great Asian food is a birthright and this place robbed me of it! -

Unlike the Sui Sha Ya in Richmond, this one is just mediocre providing less than average sushi.
However it is certainly one of the few in this particular area that offers you the AYCE specials. Even that does not redeem the mediocrity of the food.
Other than sharing the same name, it really has nothing else in common with the other location. -

We did the all you can eat lunch. The food was yummy, the sushi is ok. My fave has to be the spicy chicken, udon, and their tea.
Service is quick and the place is always busy. They have a few more items then the one in Metro Town. -

My significant other's(at the time) family chose this place to eat. This is a non-Japanese owned sushi place, which usually is a good indication of what the quality will be. The restaurant has a Japanese booth style set up. The booths are kind of odd and not exactly comfortable especially if you're trying to converse with people sitting in the corners. I came here for the all you can eat, but didn't eat much since the service was rather slow. The food was just ok. Nothing too special. We actually got more cooked foods than actual sushi. The waiters actually just walk by and ignore you. I'm rather surprised at the amount of business they got considering the poor service. My former s.o. left vowing never to return. After we returned home, I was extremely thirsty which was a strong indication of MSG usage.

oh my god . I should rate this place 0 star ... seriously never ever come back unless they change their quality of food and services . The workers there are so rude and throw food at you like you 're in jail !!! Their AYCE is horrible . I don't get why they are still so busy . Save your money .
