Yes, they provide services for MEN!
My first waxing of any kind and I was a bit nervous as to how comfortable I would be but it turned out fantastic. The staff were very relaxed and kind and supportive. I had my back done and then I got a full Male Brazilian. Both technicians, Lindsay G. did my Brazilian, made me feel very relaxed and at home and no big deal. The pain was minimal for both procedures, maybe 2 out of 10, I would relate it too being lightly slapped, and the whole experience was very positive. Lindsay G was very cool totally non-pulsed by the occasional view of my bits and pieces and nice and genuine. My girlfriend who "suggested" I get this done was very pleased with the result and I got the benefit of her happiness with the outcome later that evening!
If you have ever considered this service I suggest you go to Sugarbox and get it done. It is a very nice feeling later and then next day, so clean and comfortable.
I will definitely go back. -

I feel like this review will sound like the beginning of a L'oreal Kids shampoo commercial.
No more ouch!
Just kidding. It still hurts, but at least you're comforted in knowing that you're being waxed by seasoned professionals, a no-double dip policy, and well, a pink room.
I've read reviews for other places where users wonder what the big deal about "double dipping" is. I've had friends inquire about this as well.
No biggie.. if it was your individual pot of wax. But imagine a pot of wax shared with EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT GETS WAXED.
Then it's a big deal, and I know for a fact that Jane makes sure of this. I've been going since it was a tiny tiny little back room in Chop Shop, when it was in a random Yaletown office space, and now, in its own little shop on Cambie.
Beware the cheaper alternatives. -

My dear, sweet Sugarbox - I'll never betray thee again!
Word to the wise - 3 for 1 waxing deals through Groupon should be avoided. There's probably a good reason why these salons aren't able to retain customers, never mind acquire new customers through positive word of mouth. I just got back from the Worst. Wax. Ever. at a salon close to my office. The décor was earthy-chic and the receptionist was a doll, but that's about all I can say for the positives. The esthetician was rough, sloppy and managed to make my Brazilian about 200 times more painful than any wax I'd ever had in my life. I actually feared for the safety and well-being of my lady-parts. And I just noticed that the back of my left knee is sticky (???)
Enough about that - here's why Sugarbox ROCKS and should be the only place you go to get your unwanted hair ruthlessly ripped out of your lady-parts: it's not because of their cute décor, it's not even because of their uber-friendly and charming staff (Lindsay rules!)...go to Sugarbox because of the peace of mind you'll have when you walk in the door. These girls know what they're doing, and boy, do they do it well.
Now, about getting that wax off the back of my knee...hmmm. -

I've seen Kim & Jane at this super cute girly salon for waxing. I wont lie, it was the pink decor that caught my eye but the results have kept me coming back. I've never had anything but great waxing and customer service. I'd highly recommend them!

Love the new location in Yaletown. Another bonus is their non-judgemental staff. I'll be blunt, I'm a fat chick. Not the best circumstance but it's something I have to deal with.
I know some others who are hesitant to get a brazilian due to being uncomfortable with their size and that doesn't matter here. They even have larger disposable underwear now which makes things so much better.
I know there are places that are cheaper for the service they provide but sometimes you just have to splurge on quality of service, location and staff.1 Previous Review: Show all »

For real though, just how saccharinely sweet can yanking the hair out of the follicles located in a slightly awkward and mostly difficult lady spot on my body be? I've tried this before. I know how it goes. Messy, painful, screaming, pulling, sweating, cleaning -- and finally accepting -- results in what is finally a predominantly pretty ridiculous outcome. Tears are shed, hairs are everywhere, there's still wax between my... fingers. This is never a good thing.
Friends, if you are like me then your box is about to be saved. These ladies know their nether-region stuff. And c'mon, I mean really -- it's PINK in there! PINK.

Honestly, this is a good place. But it's not that good.
Yes the staff are friendly. Yes it's a cute shop. Yes they do a good job.
But a first time brazilian there and underarms for $75 BEFORE tax and tip? I want something INCREDIBLE to happen to my cooch for that price.
I've been having waxes for years and I don't have sensitive skin or any other issues so maybe this place wasn't for me. It's a great place but the ladies out there need to know that there's cheaper places of similar quality. -

This is the only place I'll ever go to for my waxing needs.
The staff is excellent, so skilled at what they do and I feel like we can be friends fo real!
It's pricier than your average wax place but well worth it. Don't hesitate to try them out, you won't regret it.
Also, is it possible to have a pain-free Brazilian? Pretty darn close at Sugarbox. -

Way back in the day, I went to see Mara at their old Yaletown location (was it Helmcken Street?! Anyhow...) That was my first time waxing. I popped 2 ibuprofens before hand because I didn't know what to expect really. Mara immediately made me feel comfortable; it certainly helps that she's one cool chick! Either she's got magical hands or I have a fairly high pain threshold or it was the ibuprofen talking or a combination of all of the above, it really wasn't painful at all! Very tolerable. She was also very patient with me and took the time to make sure that I was well, um, smooth. I left feeling gloriously feminine!
Earlier this year, things have gotten wild and I booked an appointment with Jane at their current Yaletown Cambie location. She is such a bubbly chatty person that I never felt a moment of awkwardness. However, this time around, I felt very rushed. The pain level increased because she waxed a bigger area each time compared to Mara. She also was not as thorough; I had a couple of missed patches (which I discovered later at home). With a price tag approaching $70 (after tax and tips), I expect at least a thorough job. This is the one reason that I'm very hesitant about returning.
As other reviews have already said, they have excellent hygiene practices. No complaints there. -

It's a well-accepted fact that removing hair from you know where is painful no matter what. So much much love to Mara and Sugarbox for minimizing the pain.
The place itself: It is very decorated with pink and purple, frilly and cute things, so this is very unlike places such as Stripped where it looks more like a medical room compared to this.
The service: Mara is absolutely wonderful and really helped me distract from the pain. She's very social and can easily talk about anything which helps a lot. Love love Mara! Also, the receptionist (Amanda I think?) was really friendly and got me a glass of water (with a peach in it!)
The wax itself: I got a Brazilian which meant getting everything except for a small patch off for me. However, Mara was fast and efficient which helped a lot with the pain and helping getting things over and done with.
Price: It's $55 (or $60 if it's a first time), so it is pricey, but definitely worth every penny! -

This place is magical. Seriously. For a place that makes their bread and butter forcibly ripping hair out of womens (and mens) nether-regions, it will leave you excited to come back for more and, even more so than that - willing to pay for it. What trickery is this you may ask?
No trickery. But a lot of pink...delicious delicious amounts of girlyness everywhere in sight. If I could decorate my house to look like this place, I would...sadly I don't think the boyfriend would enjoy it too much. Le sigh.
The decor of this place is a girly-girls dream. Pink everywhere you look, with tons of cute little trinkets and glittery pretty things as far as the eye can see. The bathroom is awesome...seriously go in there. They have literally everything you could possibly want...hairspray...body mist...perfume...body lotion...I always hit it up when I go.
If you are a first-time waxer, do not, I repeat, DO NOT (!!) go anywhere else. I had my first brazilian here and they take extra-good care of you. They are very detailed in letting you know what you should and shouldn't do in advance of your visit, book you in for extra time to take things slow, and even (heart) give you a call a couple days later to check up on you. That's customer service my friends.
I usually go in with Sarah, and she is all kinds of awesome. Super friendly, super knowledgeable and super talkative. She keeps you laughing all the way through so that the pain is kind of secondary to the experience and then preeesto, before you know it, you're bald! Also there's no bizarre contortions of any kind - she's all about simplicity, efficiency and best of all, speed! She gets in, gets 'er done and gets outta there.
Yes, the price is more than you will pay at a number of different salons...but I have tried other places and believe you me this one is worth the extra cash. It's much less painful, much more clean and much more personable. You totally get what you pay for here and it's totally worth it.
So what are you waiting for? Go get manzilianed, or vajazzled (yes they do those too.)
But definately be sure to hit up the bathroom ;) -

LADIES,
this place, seriously, it's the perfect place to feel like a Princess.
The atmosphere, decor, staff... EVERYTHING is perfect, perfect, perfect.
No word to describe.
I'm 24, and it was my first experience. I was afraid as someone see my 'privacy' . But Mara was very nice and friendly with me. Took 20 minutes, and didn't have any pain. I swear.
I think every women should go there.

this place is pretty awesome.
i've only just started coming here the past few months. i love it here! i love the atmosphere, the people, the way i feel relaxed just before i see the sticker stuck on the front of their door of little birds in a tree. it is a terribly girly place, and perhaps it is because of this that i feel like i can unravel and loosen up.
these girls, they know the reality of girls and their hairs. they've probably seen, if not all, a good chunk of all. i've only gone to sarah and she doesn't make me feel nervous or shy at all. she's a great conversationalist and it is good for distraction as well as verbal therapy. she treats you as a person and not just a transaction. she also gives good recommendations and reasonable advice. plus, she gives great eyebrows. i've always had a problem with my eyebrows, but she seems to just do some magic and bring some shape into them.

In most cases, I can see how I would have a really hard time saying "woohoo! as good as it gets" about getting the hair of my lady bits torn out with hot wax but seriously, this really is as good as it gets.
Like most girls in Vancouver, I see Mara who is adorable, friendly and really social which is great because it distracts you from the situation at hand.
I really have no complaints, they are reasonable, fast, safe, lovely and I recommend them to everyone I know.
The new space on Cambie is really lovely, bright more private than the older Yaletown or Commercial locations. Seriously, if you have waxing woes check out these lovely gals! -

There aren't a lot of things I swear by, but Sugarbox is definitely one of the few that I will stand by forever-ever.
If you're a first-timer and a little bit anxious, DO NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE but Sugarbox! At Sugarbox, everything is even better than "just painfree".. oddly enough, the whole experience is enjoyable! Yes, the ladies that work there are no doubt professional, but also so personable and make you feel relaxed about everything. This is key and this is why I'd never go anywhere else.
I started at Sugarbox years ago and I don't have the slightest urge to cheat because why mess with the perfect experience? Knowledgeable staff, a BEAUTIFUL location with all the goodies that any lady (or gent) could imagine, and of course, the results are fantastic! My eyebrows SING and everything else ..purrs. Really, you'll leave feeling fresh and fantastic.

Sugarbox is one of those places where I'm wholeheartedly willing to spend the extra money. Yes, other salons do offer waxing for less, but considering Sugarbox's superior customer service, cleanliness (no double dipping!), and ability to make the whole thing as painless as possible, this is the only place I visit for a Brazilian.
I've only visited Jane and Mara, but I trust that all the girls would provide the same level of service. I will follow Sugarbox wherever they go in the future.

Without Sugarbox and Mara my wise world of waxing would wane.
That's right, 5 star alliteration for a 5 star experience. With the downtown location now closed, I was a little worried about getting to The Drive. But, in the sweet-as-sass back room of the Chop Shop, there's Sugarbox. Still pink, still frilly, still using strips of recycled fabrics for wax and fun paper panties for modesty.
Quick, less painful than other down-there waxing experiences I've endured, and casually professional, I can't help but look forward to a visit. Mara has a way of turning a deeply private and somewhat uncomfortable situation into a fun girly chat time.

I've been meaning to write a review for Sugarbox for a while, since I first went in June. I would NEVER consider going anywhere else. In fact, if I could give the place ten stars, I would. Sugarbox is girly, retro, and totally adorable. They often have infused water in the lounge (when they make fresh strawberry raspberry water it's the best!), and loads of gossipy-type mags to read while you wait. Occasionally the girls can take you right away if it's not too busy.
Anywho - service: tip top, simply the best. I started out seeing Kim for brows and brazilians, she is really great. She saved my brows and helped them out while I was in the stage of growing them thicker. I recently had a lapse of judgement and went somewhere else when I couldn't get a last minute appointment - now I will be back to square one with her while they grow again, but she can work magic! I swear! Because she only works on Tuesdays, I've started seeing Amanda for brazilians. She's just the sweetest, I would recommend her 100%. She's super quick, and the experience is actually enjoyable (who would think it would be possible?!). It's basically painless, and she's great to chit chat with to take your mind off of things.
The bathroom is another great addition: they've got makeup to touch up with after face waxes, perfumes and lotions, etc. And a picture of Sid & Nancy on the door :)
GO to Sugarbox! You'll no doubt end up a dedicated customer. -

Alright ladies - I know this is the Commercial Drive location, but they're re-opening the yaletown one so it still makes it on my list.
I found out about sugarbox from yelp, and I put it on a pedestal of waxing bars, trying other ones first. Everyone says wonderful things about Sugarbox, and I don't disagree.
I will say that the customer service and hygenics are what makes this place stand above the others. My wax was done by Sarah, but I spoke with Jane to book.
Jane was awesome - I called her and she was super friendly, squeezed me in that same day on a cancellation. Since the commercial drive location is inside a hair studio that closes before they do, she told me to ring the doorbell, and when no one answered I called her. She was lovely and called Sarah to let her know I was there (Sarah was in the back with a client).
Sarah was hilarious. That lady made me laugh so hard I almost forgot I was getting something painful done at all. She's a total rocker, with tattoos and a blunt way of putting things - I loved her immediately, I felt like I was hanging with a BFF.
The room smells like french vanilla and there's frank sinatra playing. What I loved most about Sugarbox was that they are extremely anal about hygene. They don't double dip in the wax - every dip is a new wax stick, that gets thrown out. They use gloves. They don't even let you touch so you wont put the bacteria from your hand on the open hair follicles.
The wax itself hurt like hell, no more and no less than any other wax I've had. Sarah said she was a perfectionist and super thorough - and that's where I'm going to have to disagree. She wasn't as thorough as she could have been, which is why there's a star docked. For $66 (blast that HST) + tip, I expect a complete and thorough job.
I'm not sure if they're going to see me again, mainly because of the price - I'm still shopping around, but they get a thumbs up in general.Listed in: Brazilians of Yaletown

Today was the first time I would ever be waxed by Sarah from Sugarbox.
I had been searching around online for a decently priced spa that could, hopefully, wax my eyebrows the way I wanted them to be. I used to get my eyebrows threaded on Fraser and 41st, but after going there for in the past few months the girl that always did my brows decided to make my arches higher and higher each time I came in. Then I went to the Eccotique place in Metrotown (next to Old Navy) and they did okay but it really wasn't what I wanted. So I grew my eyebrows out for 2 months (I felt like a caveman....) and booked my appointment with Sarah online on Tuesday.
The booking system online is soooooo simple and easy to use my 3 year old niece could have done it for me.
When I arrived Sarah was a little behind but I didn't mind waiting. When I got into the room with Sarah she asked me what I wanted and she was very personable and very easy to talk to. She gave me some suggestions for my brows and I pretty much let her do what she thought would be the best for me. After maybe 10 minutes or less (i'm not really sure how long it took... but it seemed really quick!) she was done and my eyebrows were PERFECT!!!!!! They are exactly how I want them to be, not too thin or thick, arched just enough, and they look longer than they actually are.
I have become an addict to Sugarbox and will for sure come back to Sarah for my brows and anything and everything else!!!!! -

I wish I could give six stars!
Hands down, this was the best waxing experience I've ever had. I was a little sceptical because they use strip wax (and I've always been waxed with hard wax) but it was by far the least painful wax I've had. The customer service is fantastic - Jane waxed me and she really took the time to talk about the process they use and to make sure I was comfortable at all times. She also talks a mile a minute, which is great - it's a nice distraction and she's lovely to chat with.
She did a fantastic job with the wax, taking time to apply it to small areas to minimise any potential pain. She was extremely thorough and the process was extremely hygienic.
After my last experience at another place, I was very sceptical about getting waxed again. All the qualms I had are gone - I will certainly be going back to Sugarbox regularly. Love it! -

Sugarbox is spectacular. I've seen Mara and Sarah here, but all of the ladies are lovely. I am a Sarah devotee from here on in because her no nonsense, speedy technique suits me down to the ground. She finishes a perfect "down below" French on me in 7-10 minutes! She knows more about my nether regions than my gynaecologist and yet it's never once felt awkward; she just gets in there, does what needs to be done and gets out. I'm not going to lie and say it's pain free - I usually only get in ever 3-4 months so the hair follicles completely mature and thus not keen on being ripped out - but it's totally bearable because it's over so quickly. I'll be utterly miserable when I move back to Ontario and don't have Sugarbox as my go to. The place is fantastic.
Oh and the new location is very nice and easy to find. -

After not finding a new waxer for my girly parts for 2 years, I found all the reviews on Yelp of this place. Definitely worth the wait.
Jane was friendly, professional, and though her first disclaimer to me walking in was that she was "a chatter box," it was welcomed as she took my mind off of "the deed" and it was the most painless and easy wax I've ever had.
They make you comfortable, relaxed, and do a fantastic job.
What else can I say?
I'm making this my regular place to go. -

I too must hop on the wagon and sing some praises for Sugarbox.
I recently visited Sarah on the Drive after my long term waxing mate moved away. As a result, I now have a new long term waxing mate!
The whole process was virtually painless, which is a definite testament to Sarah's kick ass skills and I think also to the type of wax they use. She cracked me up the whole time with great conversation, which was awesome and provided a great distraction from the activity at hand.
I am a gal prone to ingrown hairs, but not so much after this wax! Yay! I haven't even been using any of those magical ingrown prevention products.
The online booking system they use is wicked too! It's incredibly convenient to rebook appointments and really easy to use.
Moral: If you go to Sugarbox, you will never again dread your Brazilian. -

Again, I also wish I could give Sugarbox and the girls 6 stars (so many people wanting to give six stars should already be an indication of how awesome this place is).
I agree, the online booking was easy to use. I got a reminder in my inbox a couple of days before my actual appointment, and no problems once I got to Sugarbox. The space itself is beautiful, welcoming, well-decorated (somewhat sadly for me, the waxing rooms are nicer than my bedroom at home is!) and visually-pleasing.
I saw Jane for an eyebrow wax and tint, and Mara for a bikini wax. Both were extremely friendly, and made me feel comfortable and confident the entire time. I was wary about getting my eyebrows done (I've had some baaad bad experiences with eyebrow tinting) but Jane is an absolute genius when it comes to brows. Mine are perfect, and I've received many compliments already!
The whole experience was easy, quick, painless, comfortable, informative... and really just downright fun. The whole experience is like having a visit with good friends (though I'd never met either before) and the bikini wax and gorgeous eyebrows were merely a bonus.
Prices are very reasonable/competitive to boot! I'm hooked. -

I've been to Sugarbox several times now and it is by far the best place to get waxed in Vancouver, possibly even the entire world. While their prices are (slightly) above normal for the city, it is absolutely worth shelling out a little more cash.
I've had waxes by both Jane and Mara and they were both amazing. Mara gave me an adorable pink ice cream cone (dyed and shaped), the sight of which prompted my gynecologist to blurt out "I've never seen THAT before." The first time I saw Jane I wanted something really outrageous but I didn't have any specific ideas and she was super helpful in coming up with something and the end product was amazing: the hair was shaped into a purple lightening bolt and she meticulously crafted sparkling turquoise clouds around it, which stayed around for a week!! She's also done an adorable red and gold glittery christmas present for me before. They are always thorough, careful, clean and comfortable.
They are really committed to providing the best service possible while maintaining the highest standards of privacy and comfort to their clients, which is ideal in situations where strangers are all up in your lady parts.
And it's not just the waxing that's amazing! The girls are sweet and funny and easy to talk to and they make the situation as minimally awkward as possible, which isn't necessarily the easiest feat. The decor follows an extremely girly shabby chic motif and if that's your thing, which it should be, because it's totes mcgoats awesome, then you'll be thrilled! The place is disarmingly like your best friend's bedroom, but it's definitely still quite clean and professional.
I couldn't be more pleased with the experiences I've had there and once I have a job again I will absolutely be a regular! -

I don't know what her secret is, but Jane and Sugarbox pulls off a practically pleasant Brazilian. It might be the location, which is bright and airy and girly and clean. It might be Jane herself. She's cool and fun and puts you at ease. But it's probably that she knows her business so very well. Her technique is clean and as close to painless as it gets. She's quick and thorough...no wax left behind, no red, irritated skin. Feeling avant garde? She can shape your stuff into a clever design, color it hot pink and bedazzle it with crystals.

Since I moved to Vancouver about two years ago, I was very reluctant to find a new waxing place because a few of my friends had a really negative experience. So I did it myself, and it is a lot of work, and bending, and pulling, and screaming, and cleaning...and huh...I wish I found this place earlier, I really do! About a week ago I turned to yelp to help me in my waxing pursuit! I saw so many nice reviews for Sugarbox that I decided to try it. So THANK YOU LADIES for your reviews!
Jane waxed me, and she is such a sweet lady. Comparing to what I did to myself, this wasn't painful at all! I know you don't believe me, but after a few years of waxing you really get used to it; and unless your waxing lady is clueless it shouldn't hurt a lot. Jane was just chatting it away so I didn't even have time to feel the pain:) she was very professional and was done in about 20, 25min. I love Sugarbox on the Drive. At first I was skeptical of the idea of getting my bikini waxing in a different place, but I thought I'd check it out and see what the fuss was about. After two visits, I'm a convert. Not only is the waxing technically better (and thus relatively less painful) than many other places I've been, but it's nice to know that you're guaranteed a waxer who is not squeamish about what they're about to do; this means the whole process is pretty much embarrassment free. Sarah's also very naturally chatty and easygoing, which provides a welcome distraction.
I was really impressed when Sarah remembered my previous visit, even though it had been maybe two months. It made it much easier to tell her what I wanted, and this time it was totally perfect. I'm really happy to finally have somebody I can see regularly, no more tossing the dice! -

As an experienced wax-receiver, I can quite confidently say that Sugarbox is killing it. Beware competitors - these ladies know their business!
Cute salon. Girly & stylish, but not "barf-girly". Clean, thorough and as pain-free as possible.
Jane creates a relaxed atmosphere and we had a good giggle about our similar music tastes and early concert experiences. Cool chick and lovely service. -

After reading all the reviews I decided to give Sugarbox a chance. It has been 6 months since my last brazillion so I was nervous. I already had a fantastic waxer but she lives far away and it can be difficult to get to her.. I have also been butchered before (burns and scars) so I was very nervous about trusting someone new. I had my wax with Mara, she was really friendly and put me at ease.
The actual waxing was the least painful I have had as yet (that's with 6 years of brazillions) and the room most importantly was extremely clean and comfortable. I suppose the best way to review them is to say that I will now be using Mara to replace my other waxer and I never thought I could improve on her. -

I have seen all of the girls for brazilians, eyebrows, and the occasional glitter treatment (so awesome). I've been really happy with every service I've had so far.
Customer service is fantastic. Their operation is cute and clean, they offer a hygenic, paper thong for you to wear, and are a single dip operation.
Their website and online booking is great. They have a helpful clear dos and don'ts list for your waxing, profiles of all of the girls including their professional history (hella legit), and you can see availabilities as well as book appointments yourself. You can even indicate on your booking that you are a first time waxer so that they can have a little extra time to talk to you and answer questions.
Also - once, their debit/visa machine stopped working and Sarah called me a few hours before my appointment to let me know so I could be ready with cash. It's sometimes the littlest things that make a business so great. -

I discovered Sugarbox thanks to http://yelp.ca and highly recommend them.
Mara was an absolute professional in making me feel comfortable, talking me through the process (french bikini) and their products. The online booking system is genius.
The 'treatment room' (?) is delightfully feminine which topped off a very pleasant experience. -

What can I say about Sugar Box that the other girls haven't already said? This was probably one of the best finds in the city. I had Sarah at the Drive location and she was amazing. So friendly, talkative and fun. She made the whole experience very comfortable and, like everyone else has said, it was almost painless. I was shocked. I am definitely recommending her to all my friends and I will be a loyal customer.

This was my first time at Sugarbox, and three years since my last wax. Before my little hiatus, I was getting waxed regularly for about five years straight, and almost always a Brazilian. I've experienced terrible waxers, great waxers and probably everything in between. Lindsay at Sugabox definitely rates as one of the greats!
I was a bit nervous, but Lindsay was fantastic. She was incredibly friendly and really helped calm me down. She was an excellent waxer, very quick and (almost!) painless. Everything about the wax was top notch, including cleanliness (gloves!) and comfort (little paper thong!). Lindsay definitely knows her stuff and explained some things to me that I hadn't heard before, and offered some great suggestions for minimizing any post-waxing redness.
I'll definitely be going back next month, and Lindsay will be my waxer of choice. :) The price was also very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the wax job. -

I have had waxes "down there" in salons all over north America, and Sugar Box is one of the best. I had Mara, and she was sweet, attentive and very thorough! I had one of the least painful waxes I've ever had here. Very professional and a definite winner in Vancouver.
