Unlike the previous two reviewers, the smell doesn't particularly bother me at Sugar and Spice. I do agree that they need to shape up though: Their competitive prices are good, which is what makes me go back, but it's endlessly frustrating when I need to pick up conditioner or cat food and I arrive at the store only to find that they're out of stock or randomly not open.
It's almost worth it to just go to a different store that I know will have a good selection, with what I want actually in stock, and will be open during normal business hours. I've gone out of my way to shop at Sugar and Spice and too many times found it barred up on a weekday afternoon when they're normally supposed to be open, or discover that they haven't restocked their shelves in months. -

My mother was/is a bit of a health nut. I can still remember wandering through isles of health food stores cringing as my mom put some more rice cheese in the cart. Health food stores have come along way since my days of youth and somebody should really tell the owners of Sugar and Spice because their store isn't very good anymore. The store smells like health food stores once did, I don't know exactly what makes that smell but somehow modern health food stores have managed to rid themselves of the stink and I think that Sugar and Spice should get on the ball about it. The selection in the store isn't nearly as strong as the smell, they have a slight assortment of supplements that you can get at your local grocery store and beg the question, if I can get this at my grocery store why I am here gagging on fumes? I can't recommend Sugar and Spice because it's not a very good health food store and considering that there are hundreds of health food stores in the GTA I would recommend going to pretty much any of those before you go to this one.

Yeah, but everything here is sometimes 2 to 3 dollars cheaper than any of those swankier health food stores. eg. Last time I checked, Nature Path Heritage O's cereal econo-packs was $6.99 and their Bio-K is still way cheaper than anywhere else and I will ttc my cheap ass all the way to Kensington to get at it. I agree the whole place is a bit tired looking including the owners who probably haven't gone on vacation in a decade but the prices can't be beat.

This store has very good prices on everything. Their organic peanut butter is amazing. T he owners are quite pleasant and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this store.
