Subway and Quiznos are good, but Submarina is better.
Get the Santa Fe Club. Trust me -
Review from Cintya P.
Move over Subway! Submarina is in the town of Montebello! What a great spot to place a sandwich place, within the Montebello Mart where Vons and Ross are located. The ingredients that Submarina has blows Subway out of the water. Subway's ingredients are really not fresh and lack flavor. Even Submarina's bread is better looking and tasting!
You want a real 6" sub sandwich that is worth your bucks? Stop by here to get your grub on. I really enjoy their veggie sandwich here. They really load up everything under the sun! -

I am not a huge fan of sandwiches, especially those made at fast food restaurants. They always seem lacking. Yet this place offers an excellent selection with a " feel-good" menu.
Here is why I am giving this place 5 stars:
- Excellent food options and exceptional quality food products. I hate cold cuts and this place has me asking for more.
- The food items such as the fresh baked breads are sans preservatives which means I feel better about the food I am eating because I know it is actually good for me. Plus, their sandwiches are more figure friendly than most other fast food places. Tastes and is good for the body. Win-Win!
- Very clean and well lit restaurant location. Nothing is worse when the place you are grabbing a bite to eat looks like your bachelor friend's less-than-perfect kitchen.
- Considering the portions and the food quality, its a great deal. No subway $5 special can compete when it comes to quality.
Aside from that, the owner is personally there to ensure everything is done in the utmost manner, excellent, speedy service without compromising quality and taste. I like this hands-on involvement, it means someone actually cares about your experience.
All in all, give this place a try. If your not into cold cuts, the albacore tuna with real avocados, pepperoncinis, and sprouts with a dash of honey mustard is really delicious. -

Montebello, CA
Way too pricey, this isn't West L.A. Sandwich was decent, but not worth 13 bucks with a small bag of chips and drink. I miss Togos in Montebello, bring them back instead of this pretentious sandwich place.

Montebello, CA
For a place that serves "ok" sandwiches and have less than mediocre, I even dare to say rude customer service, they're sure gettin' their horn tooted... repeatedly with the 5 star ratings?... How odd, wonder if you know the people who run it... oh no that would never happen on yelp. Rate a place based on actual quality? Puh-lease.
Look for a Submarina in another city if you're really craving it because this location does not make the cut, not even for a half-cordial-customer welcome. I'm sure the criminals of such poor treatment are the people who actually own this joint!... not the employees.
I will say that the 6 inch sandwich I tried was thickly stacked with ingredients, which is my push for 2 stars, but the cuts of meat were nothing stellar and I kept having to reconstruct my sandwich to get the perfect bite.
Ho-hum.
TIP: Try Tony's Deli in Montebello or Jersey Mike's in other loctions if you're tired of convery belt Quizno's or Subway. -

Subway and Quiznos got nothing on Submarina.
Montebello is lucky to have this place. It's clean, fresh, and a friendly staff. Word is that you really do not want to go to this place when the owner is there, but when there are the two younger dudes they will hook up your sandwich like no tomorrow.
Cold cuts are delicious!
The 6'' for 5 bucks is misleading, because their sandwiches are way bigger than subways! Definitely gonna go back and try some more different types. -

Lets get to the point here.
It is misleading to think, "a 6 inch for 5 dollars when I can go to subway for a 12?", stop that. A 6 inch at Submarina is way more filling because the sandwich bread is wide and they STACK the cuts. The quality and choice of ingredients is so superior to Quizno's and Subway that is laughable to even compare them.
The cold cuts are sliced fresh when you order them. The vegetables are fresh. The bread variety is incredible and very good. Anytime I can order a new york style pastrami sandwich on rye bread with just mustard, I AM HAPPY. The meatball sandwich? Great. The East-coast? Great.
Why haven't you gone to Submarina yet? I don't know, you might be scared but you shouldn't be. These are some of the best sandwiches in Montebello. -

Montebello, CA
Let me preface this by saying that I LOVE sandwiches, any kind. I however very much dislike Subway, although I have been known to have a tuna sub there every blue moon (out of necessity), I think their meats are tasteless.
food- I have been here three times. I've had the tuna, the bbq brisket and the meatball subs. The three were good, the tuna was better than I expected and I hear its the best seller, however I liked the meatball sub the best. The meatballs are well seasoned and big, the sauce is very tasty and the bread is excellent. I have seen that the other meats are sliced to order. Oh and I LOVE that they have squaw bread as an option. The sandwiches are big and they don't skimp on the meats or extras.
staff- The employees are very helpful and friendly. They will let you sample/taste the meats and they inform you of the deals/offers they have.
place- The place has alot of seating. Its clean and there are two flat screens for customers.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place. I say drive the extra 3-5 minutes from the other place I mentioned and get a better quality sub. I would even say it's comparable to a deli such as Olde World Deli...IMO. -

Have you ever wanted 6" to look more like 9"? I thought so. Well, hit up Submarina. I have passed Submarina for a few months and not had any desire to enter. Mainly because, well, the place is called Submarina. Not too catchy there. Anyhow, today I was craving a sandwich and I had to make a pit stop at Radio Shack in the same shop center so I thought I'd give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did.
They offer 3", 6", 9" and 12" subs. They have the basic Subway-style setup. What they have that makes me a lover of Submarina is that they offer Squaw bread. Now just sliced, but in a roll.
The restaurant is extremely clean and offers plenty of seating for those that want to sit and dine in. They have a TV, which was playing news when I went in. The prices seem a little hefty for a sandwich place, but the actual sandwich is loaded and piled high that you begin to realize that you got your money's worth.
I opted for a Cali sub on squaw bread. The cali has oven roasted turkey, sliced avocado, bacon, and provolone. I added red onion, alfalfa sprouts, pepperoncinis and cucumbers. Let me just say that my sandwich was delicious.
They also have a special called $5 after 5pm. Any of their 6" subs is only $5. Now, I know that it still seems pretty pricey for a 6". I have to say that they are VERY generous in their measurements. I ordered a 9" thinking that it would be perfect since I didn't want chips. Well, I was wrong. It was way too huge! I couldn't take it all. Not even after asking for it. ;) My 9" looked more like a footlong. And it was about 4" high, no joke.
So, give it the healthy alternative a try when debating between Juan Great Fiesta or Rio's. -

This place may not be as popular as subway but they are just as good if not better in some aspects. their footlong is an extra large sandwhich because their bread is thicker and wider so it holds more.I had a coupon for $6.99 for an extra large if I buy a drink which is a good deal because the foot long is over $9. I would definitely come back even though its Montebello.

Very friendly, fast service. Fresh, tasty sandwiches and sub are made to order and deli meats are sliced right in front of you. The subs are large and "well groomed" with tons of veggies including sprouts and all the fixings. This place gives Quiznos and Subway a run for their money. Will definitely be making my way back to Montebello for these subs!

Subway can suck it! Eating at this place rocked my world. The portions are good not to mention their not skimpy with their meat portions(Ya heart that SUBWAY!) You feel their meat quality is better and fresher than any other sandwich place ! The EAST COAST sub gives subways BMT a run for its money Best part ...... They dont charge toasting! woot woot!

I've come here a handful of times when I'm in town and love it. The sandwhiches are definitely better than Subway or Quiznos. I ordered a couple platters for a party and they were a hit. If you are looking for something healthy with more flavor, this place is it.

Stopping into Submarina after some shopping, i was curious to see how they were different than any of the other sub sandwich shops. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience.
I was greeted by a friendly employee who asked me if this was my first time at Submarina. I don't know if i just had a newbie look or something, but she explained what type of subs they offered and i asked her for a recommendation. She said that one of the most popular subs was the Cali Sub. So i went with her recommendation. On my selection of bread and with the cheese of my choice, the Cali was deli sliced turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and pickles. You can personalize the sub however you want, with just the toppings you like. I had my bread toasted, which gave the sub a great crunch.
I was impressed by the friendly employee, but also how fresh their ingredients were and the fact that they sliced the meat as you ordered your sub. No pre-sliced meats here.
I happened into Submarina after 5:00 pm, and they had a great "$5 after 5:00 pm" special. After 5:00 pm, any 6" sub is just $5, including chips and a drink. A pretty good deal!
I loved my Cali Sub and the service I received at Submarina. I will certainly be back and I suggest you try them as well. -

OMG! omg! o-m-G! This place is so good! Today was my second visit and now I'm like "Subway who?" "Quizno's what?". I had the Italian today and last time I had the Philly Cheese. Both on squaw bread (yum). Both were delicious! If you are near by you GOT to try it!

3 Times i have been here since i found this spot and i have to say its always very clean and great customer service and best of all its family owned. The owner is there all the time.
As far as the sanwiches go they are great!! The first time i ordered was a 12'' cali it was very big compared to subway. submarinas 12'' sandwich could feed 2-3 people the bad part is that its a little more expensive to subway. But i think its worth it because its bigger and quality. Submarina slices the meats to order and everything is fresh. If you want something smaller get a 6'' it has the same amount of meat as subways 12'' they even have a 3'' and a 9'' The bread is very soft and they even have sqaw bread.
I recommend the sandwiches that i've had like the cali meatball and the santa fe.
Give this place a try. -

Submarina has good sandwiches. A little pricey but three taste is worth it. The meats are sliced fresh when you order. They also have different soups. The broccoli and cheese us really good. They also have a chili soup which is very tasty. It's a welcomed change from subway.

The sandwiches here kick ass! Does not even compare with subway, quizno's, ton'y deli, framentos. Real quality meats and cheeses. Subway gives me the squirts later on - bad lettuce, meat. I wish there were more of these around.

I gave this place 4 stars all for the food. The bread is very good. The tuna is better then Subway. However I didn't like the china mist iced tea. That will not keep me away. The two guys that run this one are also very friendly.
