Review from Vivek S.
I popped into Stylegarage to kill some time while waiting for a table for brunch. This place is groooovy.
It's a modestly sized store but well-stocked with furniture. The emphasis here seems to be on very clean and modern pieces. Lots of cool greys and dark colours, hot-rolled steel and natural wood. I really dug the concrete-topped coffee tables and they have pretty much everything else you need for urban living: sectional sofas, smart-sized beds, unique lighting, stools and benches, and of course, hand-carved deer heads.
All the furniture is made-to-order which is a boon for the heterogenous dwelling types found in this city. If you're impatient, you can get ready-to-go pieces at their Gus Studio next door. Though I didn't buy anything on my visit, I will be sure to stop here next time I need something original and Canadian-made. Definitely worth a visit for the new home owner/apartment dweller in Toronto.
Obligatory Title Pun: All we hear is/furniture GA-GA.
Menu Readability: I need to know who writes all the price tags here. Amazing printing.
Need to mention: This place is kind of pricy, bro.
What this place teaches me about myself: I like chunky coffee tables. (What? Not all my personal revelations are hilarious.)Listed in: Queen Street Address, Home Stuffs

StyleGarage is great furniture store!
The store is nicely designed, warm, and comfy -- a great place to get some decorating ideas. There is a lot of cool accessories that fill the store
I really like their timeless contemporary designs, and they are all quality made in Canada. They sell the Gus Modern line (they also run the dedicated Gus store next door) and many of their furniture could be custom made which is especially great if you have a small or awkward space to furnish (they also carry some condo-sized pieces in stock).
I have collegues wh bought sofas from them and they could not be any happier with their purchase.
Their staff is always friendly and very willing to spend time with you eventhough you have no serious intensions on purchasing (other stores should take note).
I will definitely be back to StyleGarage when my condo is about ready!Listed in: Home furnishings (Best &…

I could NOT love my sofa more.
Style Garage showcases Gus Modern - Canadian owned, FSC certified, and classic modern pieces.
We purchased the Jane bi-sectional during one of their 20% off sales and were thrilled with the quality and the customer service. We had been looking for a long time and finally found exactly the sectional that we wanted. The sales people were friendly, helpful and raised no eyebrows when come in two days in a row, throwing swatches and things from home onto the floor model to aid me in selecting a fabric.
our sofa was ready and waiting for us at the warehouse within 48 hours. The best part of the sectional is the reversibility, allowing us to move the chaise from left to right depending on if our needs/layout changes. The fabric is extremely durable, and I have (unfortunately) had to clean some stains, but I have had no problems.
I wrote about the entire experience here if anyone is interested in more info. http://www.hgtv.ca/BLO...Listed in: Best of the Best

Well before ubiquitous condo signs started popping up on Queen West, modern furniture boutique Stylegarage had made its mark on the artsy neighbourhood. From its wrap-around windows lined with eye-catching lighting, the shop, on a quiet corner of Shaw, exudes muted and sleek sophistication. It was enough to draw me in. I'd been on a hunt for a wide and low television stand with large industrial wheels for awhile and decided to browse the boutique to see if I could find it.
Inside the design store, each modern line blended fluidly with the next, allowing their most stunning showpieces - made of grained walnut, oak, maple and douglas fir - to get full attention. Whether it's their leather sofas characterized by topstitching you'll fall for, or their chunky Canadian wood coffee tables, it's obvious they design furniture to last a lifetime.
Since I've always lived in old Toronto houses with little built-in lighting I get especially excited for modern lamps of any kind. One brushed stainless-steel wall-mounted piece caught my eye. The simple style mixed with a clear vintage bulb and exposed filaments (also sold at stylegarage) would look fantastic in any pseudo-industrial space.
Though I didn't find exactly what I was looking for, friendly staff reassured me they could custom make most things. Seems they have a very close partnership with Toronto design manufacturer Gus Modern, the company that supplied the loft furniture for Martha Stewart's prime-time show The Apprentice. While Martha's run might be over you can still find loads of fresh and fluid pieces worthy of a magazine cover at the Stylegarage shop.Listed in: Finding My Happy Place
