Studio D Hair Salon has been around for about a year and is one of East Vancouver's up and coming trendy salons.
I've been friends with owner Donna Fathi for over 20 years and she has come a long way from bleaching and streaking my hair in high school to becoming my regular stylist. Donna is extremely professional, efficient (it takes about 30 mins or even less for a cut) and also has great deals on accessories like flat-irons. They were all sold out by the time I decided I wanted one!
Donna also did my hair for a special gala event recently and I got tons of compliments on it. Her salon is clean, stylish, full of inspiring artwork by sister & painter Diane Reyes, and in a great location where you can get food! -

Really mixed feelings.
The pros: I got an appointment quick, I was in and out of the salon fast, it is impeccably clean and fabulously priced. Great line of pro grade products, also reasonably priced.
The cons: went in for a half head of highlights and low lights as well as a trim. I didn't really realize until I got home that they are all pretty uneven. The hair cut as well left random long strands here and there and my side swept, long, layered bangs have taken on a rather angled, blunt look. A bit of texturing at the ends may not have been a bad idea. My low lights faded from a deep chestnut to an auburn-red in a week. A bit disappointed.
I would certainly give the place one more go, but next time I'll pay more attention to the 'finished product' to be sure it is a bit more put together. -

I recently decided that I was not going to pay over $250 for my colour and cut, on my long hair. Instead of paying for parking downtown, and going to a place where I would be in the chair for a few hours, I decided to venture to a closer destination.
I am so glad I did, because not only was the cut & colour cheap - it was great! I had great service, and my colour is perfect. The trim took no time, and I was happy for that.
The charges only came to about $85 for the cut & colour. And the colour did not wash out at all on the first wash after my appointment.
