I first started going to Strange City back when they offered hairstyling along with piercings and tattoos. The stylist, Jay, was hands down the best hair stylist I've ever had. But that's probably because he did hair just for fun -- he was actually an artist. I basically gave him creative freedom over my hair and came out with some wicked cuts.

Anyway, I was in the studio all the time buying jewelry and getting hair cuts and mentioned my perpetually bleeding daith bridge. I'd got the daith bridge done the year previous at Dragon FX (yes, it bled for a year), my second and last bad experience with them (the first was an infected helix.) A piercer took a look at it and commented that the jewelry was way too small for my ear and was putting pressure on the edges of the piercing. They suggested a new size and I switched promptly. Within the week it stopped bleeding, and it was healed shortly after that. Phew!

Since then, I've been tattooed and pierced at Strange City, both with fantastic results. My tattoo is pretty nerdy, and my tattoo artist, Shawn, put up with my nerd babble (trying to explain it) as well as me almost falling asleep on the table during the procedure. The tattoo itself looks like it's right out of a textbook (which was my intent), the lines are crisp and the writing is solid.

The thing I like about Strange City is that it isn't at all intimidating to people like me, who only want a couple tattoos and piercings. The place is very clean and has a pretty chill and calming atmosphere. The piercers and tattoo artists are clearly knowledgeable and professional, and care as much as you do that you are happy with your body modifications.

I'm glad to see that Strange City has five stars on here because well, it deserves them!

My experience with Strange City was a very good one. I was in to get an piercing and was quite nervous to say the least. The receptionist was fantastic about keeping me preoccupied and the piercer Ryan was fantastic and professional and extremely knowledgable. I'm quite sure my piercing days are behind me but if I ever change my mind I would go back to SC in a heartbeat.

I've never got any of my tattoos done at Strange City but I did get my eyebrow pierced last summer. My friend and I went in and she had never had anything pierced before (she was getting her eyebrow too) so she was really nervous so the piercer (I can't remember his name..Ryan? Or something lol) let us both go in the same room. The usuals were done when getting a piercing..disinfecting, marking the spot with a marker to choose where it should go, picking the jewelery etc..

He was really great because he has you do a few calming breaths while laying there and pierces while following your breath so everything just flows. No "1-2-3!" here! This was one of the first piercings I had without using a clamp and it was actually better. I just remember it being fun there, he had a really good sense of humour and was professional when it came down to actually piercing us.

Yes it's pricey but its great quality. This was the first piece of body jewelery that I had that wasn't the "screw on" kind that always gets loose. The ball on the top has a little thin piece sticking down that you just insert into the bar. The place has a funky, zen-like atmosphere here and you don't feel like you need to show every tattoo or piercing scar just to fit in.

There's a reason this place is constantly rated #1 for piercing in Edmonton!

After a botch helix job from Dragon FX, I've been going to Strange City for all of my piercings. They re-pierced my helix (with proper jewellery) for me. They have also done my second lobes and my nostril for me. All have been perfect. No infections, no problems.

The staff is super friendly and extremely knowledgable. They take their work seriously. They also allow my fiance to join me in the room whenever I go. Which is nice, I was a little nervous for my nostril.

Their studio is very nice. Artwork in the lobby (which is sometimes up for sale), lots of portfolios and displays. The reception is always friendly, and they will work with you. The rooms and even lobby are always super clean.

I will be going back to Strange City for more!

I have nothing but positive things to say about strange city.

I got 2 out of my 3 tattoos here and I couldn't be happier with either if them. My first experience was really good. I was getting my tattoo in a somewhat private area and my artist was very professional and made me feel very comfortable.

The second experience with this tattoo shop was even better. My previous artist had left and so I was paired up with someone new. I had designed a word that was an ambigram (where it looked the same way right side up and upside down). My artist took this information and said he would see me in a week and we would talk.

I went back in a week and what he had for me was terrible! He admitted it himself and said he hated it and wanted to start from scratch. He didn't charge me for the extra time he took to redo it, even though it was not his fault. After one more week, he had perfected it and I was in love with it! I had to budge a little on my original idea, and I am so glad I did!

The studio is very clean and the artists and receptionists are so professional. I would never go to another tattoo shop.

I am loyal to Strange City!

If you go in, ask for Mike King. He was the artist for me the second time around, and really put in the time and effort to make the experience amazing.

This place is great ! I have been going here for 4+ years and have never had a complaint. Staff is always really friendly, and this place is extremely clean. I don't know too much about the tattoo side of this place but I have always been happy with the piercing that has gone on here. All the jewelry is high quality and they have a great selection  with the option to order in if you don't see what you like.

I did a lifestyle story on body art years ago when I was working for a local publication. I interviewed these really cool guys and saw first-hand what a safe, sterile and sanitized work environment they keep. They even have a window into the tatoo/piercing studio so you can see the sanitation process before you decide to get work done here.

They're very conscientious, and hip in their line of work. They don't have generic tattoos plastered all over the shop. It has the feel of a studio, spa and art gallery, and the vibe is chill. I'm not into tatooing, at this point, but I go have a belly pierce and they've got a small but good variety of navel jewelry. All of the products are made of the highest quality stainless steel and titanium. They also sell really cool wood and bone earrings. If I were to get a tattoo, I would come here. The artists do custom work and you can get a feel for their styles and see their past work, before choosing to work with one of them. If you don't know much about piercing or tattooing, come here and you will be guided through the process safely. Some jewelry studios import is not of a high enough grade to put in healing piercings, and they don't sell any of that here.
