Straight (yes, it's a gay bar called Straight. So hilariously ironic, non?) has proven itself over the last few years as being consistently fun, attracting the best looking boys and a few girls from all over.
It can be a little busy and has an odd layout spanning several floors, but I quite enjoy that as it lets you escape people you want to escape, and find (new) people who should be found :) My only grip with the layout is the lack of toilets plus the addition of a toilet attendant on busy nights - I can wash my own hands, thank you. I don't need to pay you a dollar for the pleasure.
Cute bar staff (say hi to cutie Shawn) plus great weekly nights from Charles Pavia entitled "Fashion Fridays" and the Eva Christina crew on holidays makes Straight a sure fire fun night out - usually best as your last destination or before you head to a club. -

Straight is to Church street what The Social is to the west end.
It's the hip joint in the gayborhood which can sometimes feel a little old and or dated.
the layout is a bit weird. Three long thin floors, the DJ is on the top floor, which is where the dancefloor ends up being even though the music is pumped through the entire venue. The bathrooms are on the second floor and they are gorgeous. It's mostly a boys night, but they do a monthly called "Straight Girl" that, you guessed it, is a ladies night. In general though, it's pretty mixed as far as the gayborhood goes, and the DJ lineup is far more hip than the rest of the strip. -

Straight bar has a New York feel to it, from the décor to the pretentious crowd. I enjoy the 3 floor layout, even though it is cramped as others mention. It can get busy so you may be in for a wait at the bar. Unlike other hot bartenders in Toronto, most of these guys are nice. A downside (for me) is the crowd who tend to take themselves too seriously. It's a bar, not auditions for America's Next Top Model so drop the attitude.

Good tunes, nice decor. I'd say one of the nicer places on Church St.
