Located in the heart of little Italy this non Italian restaurant is worth a visit. We went to celebrate my daughters birthday on a tuesday evening. The tarragon chicken and almond crusted chicken were excellent. (Can not recommend the ribs, they did not fall off the bone as advertised and the dry rub was not impressive). The red pepper soup and the key lime pie were also very good. Reasonable selection of wines by the glass, half litre and bottle. Our server was very friendly, and attentive with out being intrusive. Prices were reasonable. On line reservation system worked well. Web site informative and up to date. A good experience all around.

Staff is wonderful. They carefully hung onto a scarf I left behind until I returned to pick it up.
Last Sunday's special: Banana Bread French Toast. Enough said?
Tip -- Make Sunday brunch Sunday breakfast and stop by around 8:30 when they open.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Service is extremely poor. Took three people to seat us. One told us to take a seat, when we took our seat, another manager gave us attitude for rushing him. I don't need to taste the food, I can draw my conclusions based on what I've seen so far. Poor service, even by Ottawa's mediocre standards.
Even by Ottawa standards, food is eatable, but not great. Having recently traveled to food obsessed cities such as San Francisco and Toronto, the food @ stoneface really is comparably atrocious...
Also, food took forever. They act like they just got slammed! They know how busy they can get, so why the deer in headlights look?
The only silverlining is that our waiter, the one who eventually took our order was super friendly. Unlike others, we didn't have a line at all. Still took 8 min to seat us due to incompetence. -

Thankfully the only time I've checked out Stoneface Dollys it was miserable weather and not many people were out on Preston Street so there was little wait.
Given the warnings from friends and other reviews concern the lineups and wait here I don't think I'd venture back because I don't think it's really worth a long wait.
Not being a fan of eggs benny (I know I'm odd!) I didn't really find much else appealing about their brunch. It was large and they offered items that other brunch venues don't -- like many different fruit choices but essentially I'm just fine with a standar breakfast.
The price is reasonable for what you get and you're going to pay more than you would at most other places but you'll get more here.
I'm not really sold on this place but then again I can't put my finger on what I didn't enjoy either. -

When people speak about places to go for brunch in Ottawa Stoneface Dollys comes up pretty often. And that is what it has going against it, people's high expectations.
I suppose a busy restaurant is a good restaurant in most cases, but a busy restaurant also makes for a bad waiting experience. There is hardly any waiting area, so when you first walk into the establishment you are quickly pressed up against strangers also waiting for a table.
The open concept interior is a nice sight to see. Windows surround the restaurant and the kitchen is open, which gives the restaurant a nice active feel when you're waiting for your food and have little else to do but people watch.
The food is healthy, with some bread being baked right on site. But healthy doesn't always mean good. Some of the meals are good (omelettes etc.) but others miss the mark. I found a lot of the food to be bland and dry.
If you ever drive by and see there isn't much of a line-up, give ti a shot, but don't get stuck in a never ending file of people only to be disappointed. It's OK, but has the potential to be a lot better. -

There is something to be said when eggs become part of your body. I've eaten eggs now for a few years, I'm a reformed egg hater, but still I have difficulty with overly fried eggs or eggs where the white isn't cooked enough or eggs served with burnt toast. I could go on.
This is all to say, Stoneface Dollys is THE BEST PLACE I've ever been for my very favourite type of eggs: Eggs Benedict. They serve it on an english muffin or molasses bread, cooked soft, medium or hard, so just the way you want it, and with the most fantastic hashbrown potato cake kinda thing. It's so good. Plus the hollandaise sauce, which has a bit of a kick to it and is liberally poured over the eggs.
IT IS AMAZING. The eggs benedict are worth the trip alone.
Other notes: The door service can be somewhat cantankerous at times, but the wait staff has always been amazingly punctual and friendly. There is often a line on weekends during peak hours that can leave people out in the cold, but, such is the journey to a fabulous egg breakfast. -

Brunch is a delicious experience, but make sure you do have the time to take it all in. Do not go to brunch here if you have a member of your party who is an impatient eater, or romanicizes a $5 greasy spoon breakfast. You will spend some time here and you will pay more than $5, but you will be treated to a brunch experience that is both worth the wait and worth the price.

Excellent brunch and good service. The blueberry ricotta pancakes with lemon curd and maple syrup are phenomenal, as are the local farmers sausages. They are always very friendly and welcoming to my 3 year old daughter and bring her some crayons and paper to draw with. On the pricey side, but well earned. Go early to avoid lineups.
